I played a D2 team last night - I'm D5 - and he was seriously shite. He had Forlan, Diego Milito, Nesta, Puyol, Lampard and Sneijder and he only managed to beat me 1-0 in a 20min game. He was a total 4-3-3 wing whore, give the ball to a winger and run run run ... god its dull to play against. No imagination or invention. I was able to cut out all his through balls with slide tackles.

My keeper played a blinder to be fair, Cebanu at £1.2m has pretty shit stats but pulled out some worldy saves. Even saved a penalty from Forlan with an outstretched dive low to the left side.

The winner was pretty lucky, my keeper got a touch on Forlan's shot but couldn't keep it out. Still, for a D2 player he pony. Anyone else play a totally shite high division player?

To be honest, I'm Divison 2 and have a 60million squad. I normally win with about at least 5 goals difference... but sometimes I'm just not able to get my game up. It happens that I even lose against Divison 5 because I'm just not really into the game (maybe the opponent sometimes has a good formations which counters mine, I'm playing with 4-2-2-2...). I think it just depends on the mood...

blah, MLO would be great if it weren't for the AI.

Also I changed my formation up a bit, and I took a terrible run of form! Switched back and got my groove back somewhat.

I spent a few hundred thousand on a couple of bench players to fill in for purple form or fatigued players, they haven't got many chances to perform yet though. I'm just now starting my build up of money for Huntelaar, but damn d5 pays nothing compared to d4, was easier making money when I was in d4.

tbh Im done with ML open, those noobs on lower division will do anything to win or make you piss..and most of them are laggy as shit..I played div 2 cup today, and it was nice, no lag or noobish behavior..

AI issues lead to more than half of my conceded goals, most people cheese formations, most people don't play football, most people disconnect before a loss, and the 85th minute scripting is ridiculous, if you are up a goal you are almost doomed to concede a late equalizer or game winner (and i've had them go my way too on numerous occasions, to the point where I feel dirty for winning in such style).

I get maybe 1 good fun game out of 10 where I dont have to fight the AI, and the person I'm playing is actually good and gives me a solid game.

Agree with most of this, sadly its why I gave up, specially the cheese formations and crapping scripting/cursor issues.

I dont think they script the game..I ve been conceded few times late in the game or injury time, but usually I was able to hold on to the lead..However, IMHO, concede a goal late in the game is nothing compared to being cheated..

Haha I agree to certain exstent, about the late goal conceded. I always say its cause the teams get tired etc. But Ive been leading many games by 1 or 2 goals and keeping the clean sheet is a extremly hard task at times.

I got to a D2 cup final last night, with out even trying haha, I was so tired. I came something like 13 in the ranks with a 3 draws, won the round of 16 and 1/4s on Pens, and the semi 1-0 with a Ribery strike. This was like 0.30 am, I was literally laying with my eyes closed between matches.. the final. Just so happened to be a 100+ million squad with Arshavin Forlan Messi etc.. I thought o well
Ill take the 1.5 million.
I end up owning the guy leading 2-0 after 30 mins, second half he brings on wright phillips who scores the most crappest tap in, and then forlan scores from a corner in the 89th minute.
As soon as extra time begun he ran through and scored 2 with messi/ forlan pretty much unstoppable unless I slide tackled. (Which Im against)

Finished 4-3.. =/ atleast I got to sleep after.

I also released Hunterlaar today... 523 Games 308 Goals 117 Assists. Bargain at 2.5mill, made a nice 600k profit lol.

Replaced him with Luis Fabiano, who will compete with Hiquan and Lisandro upfront!

Wanted to quickly share something I've started doing with MLO.

Maybe I'm a geek, but I spend way more time tinkering with my squad and searching for talent in MLO than actually playing the game :)

Anyway, this means of course that I have a list of players I'm scouting (favourite players list), but it is sometimes very difficult to chose between them. What I've started doing in order to help me decide is to build an offline "B Team" version of my MLO squad. This is essentially a team made up of players I'm scouting who I am considering buying. This gives me a chance to try out the players first and see how effective they are, and it also allows me to see what their overall stats will be in different positions. It's kind of fun and gives me almost another mode to play because in order to really evaluate these players I'm playing competitions in order to put them to the test. I guess you could also say they are like a youth squad except that they aren't necessarily young.

Another thing it helps with is that it frees up your favourites list in MLO because you now have those player names on your B team so you won't forget their names. This means that effectively you have a longer scout list in MLO.

I guess you could also do this in ML if you turned player development off, and then you coudl even use that team online to try them against human opponents.

Late goals conceded don't happen all the time, admittedly in my games they usually end without late game drama.

However I have seen it the late goals on occasions from both sides, and almost every single one of them was an extremely cheap goal. I was up 1-0 on a guy going into 85th minute. What do you know, my ai falls asleep and the ball sits there in the box looking all pretty waiting for a strikers foot. So game is 1-1, now we are past the 92 minute after 2 minutes of added time (clock disappeared), he takes like 5 passes to get down the field, dribbles around, and runs parallel with the 18 yard line to the front of net, completely unmarked, and fires a rocket in the net while my keeper stands there not moving. Although I was pressing the Pressure buttons, my Cbs actually stood off, even the ones I switched too. Game ends 2-1 with probably 94-95 minutes of a 92 minute extra time.

I noticed similar things in ML

I took a couple of weeks off from PES altogether (other games/content released). Anyway, I notice the tournaments are empty as hell now.

Really think they should change the format or prize money. One my first day back I earned something like 2 million in 2 hours as there were only like 9 people in the div 2 cup. Sadly I relegated back to div 3 not much later but it did feel a bit bad knowing how much money I usually get and how quick it went in an empty tournament.


Maybe they should reduce the qualifying round to 30-35 minutes? I mean I haven't seena tournament in the past 7 days that is even a third filled. Usually its less than 30 people.

I quit playing MLO about 2 weeks ago for pretty much the same reasons listed above. I had really high hopes for it and in some ways it met them. In the end, it's the people that ruin it. Konami should definitely take the blame too for making a game that is so easily exploited and really doing so little to stop that.

It was actually quite fun in the beginning but after awhile you saw the same shit over and over. Disconnectors, own goal cheats, laggers, ridiculous formations, tactics that would and should never work in a real game, overpowered through balls and cursor screw ups seemed like they were happening in every game I played. After playing more than 200 games, the fun wore off. I would only enjoy about 1 out of 10 games which makes it feel more like work than recreation.

Hopefully, Konami can address these issues in future editions.

4-4-2 diamonds with smf is better, though you can try to use 1 smf and 1 cmf on the diamonds, so you have options..If you use 2 cmf, your opponent is gonna pack the middle on defense and you wont be able to do anything..

the problem with SMFs for the corners of the diamond is that it will lose shape when they run down the wings, I could try to correct this by setting the attack style to defensive, but that may hurt the rest of the squad. I'll probably try some variations in training, see if I can maintain shape and possession without the SMFs.

I play 442 with SMFs, no problems maintaining possession. Possession doesn't all need to be in the middle. I work the ball out to SMFs, then they work the ball back to the middle, and then to the other side... Waiting for an opportunity. I find SMFs essential but I play a wide game I guess - tho my tactics I think are set to play compressed so maybe that's why it works for me.
