I have him and Gayà for the left. Gayà stats are ridiculously badly made (88 Short Passing, and 66 Long Passing?), and it shows. Bernat is more realistic, a tad slower but much better positional awareness and strength (his Balance seems way higher than his stats show). But his biggest weapon vs Gayà is the aerial ability: 3 cm taller, 15 more in Jumping, and similar Heading. And I like my full backs to contribute in the aerial department

Ye Bernat is very nippy, he's chipped in with some important goals for me too.. I don't think I'll ever sell him, even though I've received some very decent offers!

I have a question that's not specifically ML related, but it's not worth its own thread, so here:

I've noticed a lot of CPU players doing a basic skill move - the one where you drag the ball to the side with the sole of your foot.... how the hell do you do this?

Deft touch dribbling? If yes, just hold R2 and move with the left stick.

I don't think so. Ive tried that, and all that ever does is make my player face the opposition goal and shimmy to the side.

EDIT: I've just checked a skills vid tutorial.... it might be the "double touch"?

Just to piggyback on this here "mini-thread".. Do you folk use much of the skills and "fancy Dan" moves in your ML in general??? I'm more of a Shankly type myself. No nonsense, simple pass and move stuff mainly. Most of the "combos" to me seem really unnatural so having to think about "a move" doesn't even come into my train of thought.. Are there any in particular you folk find beneficial or reliable?

Not really. Just fake shots and the Ronaldo chop on occasion. If I'm feeling fancy I might twiddle the sticks about randomly, here and there.

I just do the step overs. But funnily I did a Flip-Flap with Castledine in one match. After the match the coach said that he was now learning flipflap and after some weeks/months I got a message that he had perfected it. Apparently doing some skills can earn you those skills. I tried a variety of them after that but it seems you have to actually beat a man with tricks for them to count. Has any of your players ended up learning any skills?

The only effective skill move that borders on exploitative is the 90 degree spin turn one. When I was playing FIFA 12, they had that move but PES doesn't seem to have it. Very useful. It's the one where your player runs down the channel with the opposing defender side by side with him; and your player checks/stops the ball with the instep and shields the ball from the opponent and in one fluid motion turns the opponent and moves off at a 90 degree direction towards the penalty box.

Extremely effective and worked 9/10 times.

For PES 2015 and 2016 I find the double touch move to be the most useful. But success rate is much lower..

The other moves are just fancy and fun but not necessary. I'm currently trying to get the nutmegs working right didn't know you could do them!

The only skill my players are learning is malicia. Spreading like wild fire!!! I have literally 6 or 7 guys now in the starting lineup with that skill. Also acrobatic clearance is another skill spreading like a virus. My Lucas Moura just mastered that! But to be fair he has the "track back" skill and works very hard to help Nathaniel Clyne.

Ali have you found what you were looking for? Your description remind me of Iniesta's move...

I use two feints: fake shot and when dribbling alongisde a defender, cut inside by using the right stick in the desired direction. The player kinda makes a body feint, and the defenders are almost left for dead.

Yeah I have a similar number with Malicia now. What I'd like to know is whether there is a "Don't run across the front of your team mate brilliantly tackling him after he's just burst through the oppositions defensive lines" skill. They may not like being ignored when they have their hands in the air begging for the ball, but that's no reason to trip him up.

I'm gonna ask it: what's the fuck is "malicia"?

DunkLFC That sounds more like a bug-ish situation.

When your player is fouled a lot, it will say after the game that to protect himself he's learning the malicia skill.

The game says : "Enables players to win free kicks when on the ball."

So I'm guessing that when we find that we don't get freekicks for tackles and the computer does, it's probably because we need this 'skill' to gain more freekicks from those dodgey tackles.

Never noticed any difference.

Nah, still haven't found what I'm looking for. Anyway, here's another update:

Finished my first PL season in 3rd, and made it to the final of the cup. Unfortunately, the game was completely against me in that match, as I was kicked off the field by Utd. They beat me 3-0, injured 2 of my players, yet despite kicking the shit out of me the entire match, only ended up with 2 bookings. They even got let off with a warning from a slide challenge from behind! Couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Onto the next season, the transfer window was a successful one. After having him on loan for the last 2 seasons, I signed Driussi for free after he was scouted, he's now rated 83 aged 21. Also signed Wimmer on a free from Spurs, Ilori on loan from Liverpool, Dodo on a free. And finally, I managed to make 2 major signings in the form of Felipe Anderson and Nchtam.

Anyone playing co-op master league and what do you think of it ? Gameplay is worse then playing alone against cpu for me :l

Not tried co-op Karish.

Latest update from Woking Town is a nice rallying set of results. We lost the first 3 matches of the season to fairly average opposition (eg Crystal Palace) with new signings like Kurzawa at LB being really awkward to use, even though Team Chemistry was still in the 90s. Now that those players have played a few matches though, they are starting to be responsive to the controls and with Team Chemistry at 97 we got a couple of easy wins against two (fellow) relegation zone teams followed by the following hard fought wins :-

Bayern Munich 2-1 away after being a goal down with Sterling scoring a weird diving header, then Arcas (83 OR) following up his own saved shot to score the winner in the 89th minute.

Man Utd at our home 3-1. We were 2-0 up without them getting a sniff, then came the late pressure and one of their midfielders drilled a volley pass straight to Depay who insta-controlled it and tucked it in with his second touch. Rooney heading wide a couple of minutes later was the only other chance they got in the game. Lukaku headed us two goals in front following a fast break with Sterling down the right.

Liverpool (top of the table before the match) at our home 3-1 as well. We attacked and attacked and scored late in the first half, Clyne crossing to Januzaj who (thanks to red form) headed the ball in. We paid the price for not finishing chances and Liverpool equalised early in the second half through a header from someone I've never heard of. Reborn Ledesma (DM) drilled in a knuckle shot for me to retake the lead after a scrappy battle in midfield and Puerta (a 78 OR attacking midfielder brought in free to sell on) tucked in a near post header from a Januzaj cross 5 mins from the end.

At 1:30am, I decided to stop there on a high.

FC Reign update

So I finished my second season in ML. Won the Sky Bet (on the last day.. Villa got beat, who'd a thunk it!?) and beat Citeh in the cup to claim the double.. Europa league here we come! I did the "every day" stoppage during transfer window period and managed to assemble quite a magnificent team. I'd upload a picture except it fails every single time I try no matter how much I try to resize etc! .. (Any help with that would be appreciated!)
Anywho I shipped out Vasilj, Grenier, Campbell (Arsenal left peg guy), Giorza, Camacho, Lampard (16 and I've no patience for Blues ), Tiago (DM 16 also) and brought in Vidal, Dante, Hummels, Bale and Walcott... And a few freebees for the finance business end of things. Needless to say I've absolutely battered teams in my first few games, including drubbing some shams in the Europa lge and a 7 nil mauling of Birmingham in the cup. Looking good thus far, with the Community Shield already in the bag (via a whooping of the Gooners) I'm on course for a clean sweep of silverware! (Wishful thinking I know...)

Current 11:

Keeper: Nunes
Back 3: Dante (left), Hummels (mid), Collocini (right)
DM: Vidal
Flanks: Bernat (left), Walcott (right)
Hole: Suarez
Front 3: Bale, Zaza, L.Insigne.

PS: Had a good chuckle reading the replies to the skills question.  ... I sometimes try the Ozzy Ardilles when I'm cruising, (double tap right stick) only for nostalgia purposes from my ISS days on the SNES!

Heh, I'm starting to think that my team set up is not the best but that it gives a realistic game in each match. I've often thought that a back three with wingbacks would be the best way. That way, I could play my wingers more narrow and get extra bodies in the box each time I attack. Now I'm struggling to decide if I should switch and obliterate teams or stay as I am for realism. LOL

I played this game far too much over the weekend, already half way through my 3rd season (just coming up to the transfer window). Wimmer, who I only signed this season is already going to leave in January, received an offer of around £11m, which I just couldn't turn down. Used that money to sign Van Beek, who is already rated at 80ovr, and looks like he'll develop to mid 80s. Here's my current team (ovr in brackets)

GK: Some guy on loan who's name escapes me (77)

RB: Widmer (84)
CB: Ilori (78) - loan
CB: L. Pereira aka R. Eca (78)
LB: Dodo (77)

CM: Ward-Prowse (80)
CM: Nchtam (83)
RM: Koman (81)

LW: Felipe Anderson (86)
SS: Driussi (83)
ST: Kane (83)

It may look like a weird formation, but it's essentially a 4-4-2, with one forward dropped back, and the left midfielder pushed forward. One advantage to this is that players in RM and LM positions tend to tire a lot more than those in LW and RW, so this way when I make my 3 subs, I usually just make one CM, one wing, and one forward sub.

Here's my bench/reserves:

GK: Amos (71)
LB: Marin (75)
CB: Wimmer (78) - soon to leave
CB: Osede (68)
CB: Prince (69)
DM: Renan (76)
RM: Ceballos (81)
RM: Wellington Silva (78)
LW: Malcolm (76)
SS: Clough (80)
ST: Augustin (76)

Of course, I tinker with my team a lot, depending on form and condition.

Ye, it took me a while to go for the "all out batter teams" formation. I usually revert to it once my personnel become strong. I had been 442 with a diamond up to that. Once I got Dante and Hummels for the back and added Bale to the forward line, it enabled me to make the tactical switch. Finally a first team place for Zaza (Juve guy) too, he's way too good to have on the bench. Patient lad, fair play to em!
