dude M$ will never merge with sony M$ will probs just come up with something to out do blu-ray seeing as HDdvd never really took off.

and 720p is HD but not next gen in terms of what we think. but still shit hot graphics.

i wouldnt say blu-ray or hd dvd has taken off,i dont know one person with either player or anyone who has any intentions of buying either player or even mentions them.

i wanna see some boots in these picks,all ive seen so far is black and white.

guys i mean the resolution of 720p is not so big as like 1o8op...i have an 46inch full hd lcd...and it would be better with a larger resolution to use on it like full hd 1080p!

someone said that he doesn't have a HDtv...boy i can tell you if ya have a playstation 3 YOU HAVE TO BUY AN HDTV! FULLHD!

There isnt a radical difference between 1080P and 720P... not that noticeable anyway so wouldnt worry too much. Also to the guy who said 720P isnt next gen... what the hell are you on about? 480i is the old standard TV (last gen) resolution....

What are you on about it hasnt taken off?

Its reached over 1 million sales in less than a year.
And it accounts for 70% of HD sales in the 1st quarter of 2007 and its outselling HD-DVD almost 3-1 last time I checked.
Might even be more now.
Thats why I said in an earlier post Blu-Ray will be the next medium.

All PS3 games are made native to 720p
Some games run at "full" (as they say) HD of 1080p like Virtua Tennis 3, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, Lair etc..

im running my xbox at 1080p and although there is a massive differnce from standard def it seems very small compared to other ratings of HD quality. GOW is the biggest difference ive seen from standard to HD,that was like playing a whole new game.

Have you got the new Xbox elite?
Because I didnt know you can run proper 1080p on the normal Xbox 360.

When you say it seems very small compared to other ratings of HD.. Do you mean 720p to 1080p?
Because as I said in an earlier post, IMO there isnt much difference to the naked eye.

You cant do 1080P on the normal 360 without HDMI I dont think. The component cable thats for HD on the 360 cant output that type of Signal.

The only way you can do 1080p on the normal 360 is through the HD-DVD player. I don't think ANY games on 360 run in full 1080p. They all run in either 1080i or 720p. Also, as earlier posters have said, there is very little difference between 1080p and 720p to the naked eye. And when the game is running and things are moving on screen i doubt whether there is any difference. And I agree, Gears of War is a whole different game in HD!!! :p
