The Regens Discussion Thread

I found something about the regens I would like to share. Many times there are teams who have less than 18 players after players retire at the end of June. For these teams they get 16 year old regen players to make up the numbers. Like I saw Real Madrid were short in the last season I ended and they had about 7 16 year old players appear as regens. Most of them were released the next season as Real bought new players. So players who [MENTION=215711]rebelinho[/MENTION] said were regen as 17y.o. were actually regen as 16 y.o. on 30th July and hence were 17 on the first day of the next season. On my ML Man city will be going through this at the end of the current season as they have 20 players and six announced their retirement at the end of this year.

That makes a bit of sense, and corroborates what I've said on post 35.

Do you know how the game chooses which players appear in those teams?

Sorry, I did not try to make sense of how the players would be chosen. But I think I know how we can find out. Firstly we find a team, which at the end of June when players retire would have less than 18 players (minimum squad size for ML). Then, we see what position players are retiring and what position do they get as regens. I'll do this for one team and share the results, but it might be a few days before I have the results. What do you think about this idea? Would you gather data too?

Saw Xavi and Pirlo on the list of regens. So badly wanted to buy them but gave myself a rule that I wouldn't sign regens.

Terry was there too- I found him whilst doing some advanced searches based on ability/combined ability and he came up which means he is likely to become pretty amazing (he had great defensive stats at age 17).
