Has to be the most realistic tennis game yet. The first couple of games a played i couldn't even hit the ball , so it does take a while to get used to the controls as they are abit tricky but when you do get used to it the game becomes amazingly realistic. You have to time your shots and choose your shot type perfectly otherwise the ball goes out or the opponent gets the upper hand in the rally.

The online mode is class, with minimal lag. Im ranked 23rd in Europe at the moment . I've only played about an hour of the career mode so far so can't really comment much on it. It seems that you start up as an amateur playing on local courts etc and work your way up to a professional playing at Wimbledon and so on, im a junior at the moment.

Overall i'm thoroughly enjoying the game. I'd give it a 9/10.

Thanks, that's all I needed to hear! :D

I hate not having a next-gen console. I bloody loved the first two in the series.

Same here bro :(

I got Madden 08 for PS2 last week though, quality game especially with friends.

Maybe I have to splash on PS3 this summer...

Wait...
After getting to grips with the control scheme and learning to time the shots, I have found that the game is purely awesome. Incredibly realistic. I was playing as Federer against Murray and we had some beautiful rallies in the match which were just sublime. Eventually I had him running from side to side then let off a powerful drive down the line to win the point. And it feels so satisfying when you win a point like that.
I've just finished the juniors and have turned pro in the career mode, and lost to Federer in the first round of the Australian Open :(. I'll have to play the easier tournaments first in order to boost my stats so I can compete in the Grand Slams.
There's a wide range of clothing available for you're created player, although they could've included more haircuts so us 360ers could reacreate Nadal. My only gripe is the poor roster, although I think other players will be available for download at some later stage. All in all I'm pretty impressed with it.

Has anyone worked out how to invite friends into a game like in Pro Evo?, or if it is even possible at all.

Just started playing the Demo and I must say, it is a very good game and addictive..I'm not sure whether to get Beijing 2008 instead though and just keep playing the demo as there is plenty to do in the Demo.

Which is the better game: Top Spin 3 or Beijing 2008

????

How's the opponents' AI? Top Spin 1 was fine but what really mattered was the characters skill points. After a while, it became a little too easy.
Is the hardest difficulty mode really a challenge?

Where'd you get the demo from?

I don't see it on the store.

I bought this - I am not impressed, Graphics are stunning. But as someone who has had tennis coaching for seven years, there are some big issues:

Shot power - seemingly unless you hold RB/R2 then it's impossible to hit a powerful winner, but these fast shots are often unlikely to go in. This leads to crucial points being 30-stroke ralleys. Particulaly in career mode, when your player is in the Junior ranks.

Timing - the difficulty curve for this must be very easy after a bit, because once you've mastered the timing for manual serving, and risk/power shots, it must become damned easy.

Doubles partners - Surely for such an in-depth game, they should have doubles players actually using common sense? I played an Exhibition with Sharapova, and any time she was at the net, her position was so bad (right at the net in the corner almost) that I could not risk a shot down the line to try and win the point as if my opponent got it, he has a free cross-court winner. So again, 30-odd stroke ralleys.

Missing the ball - basically any shot that is played directly at your player's body (this is most true when returning a serve) your player just misses. And also, they just stretch feebly and miss shots that were pretty easy to hit. And again, player stretch FORWARDS to hit a shot that they can wait to bounce and hit much better. I know this is all about timing, but it still is impossibly tricky at some points

Camera angle - I've relegated this game to being a game I just play with mates on multiplayer - but you can't go to the widest view when there's more than one player! That's backwards logic. Means that if your player goes off court, you can't see them, and if you're on the far side of the net, timing is made a lot more difficult.

Overall, I'd say this game has a massive case of the EAs. Aka a game with stunning options and game modes, but where they've overcomplicated the gameplay by trying to make every single detail too realistic. Complete waste of money.
