Unofficial - How are you doing in Master League?

I've just finished my season on ML - I won the D1 League and the Europa League in the end! Lost to Chelsea in the semis of the England Cup.

I finished 6 points clear at the top and had a great run of fixtures and wins since my last post. I won against Arsenal at home and United away fairly comfortably - in fact I hammered Arsenal 7-1 and beat United 3-1. Perhaps it's time for me to move up to top player? My top striker, F. Rodriguez scored a crazy amount of goals - top of my head I can't remember, but it's certainly +50, 20+ in the Europa League and 30 odd in the English League.

Just starting my fifth(?) season and have a budget of 50 million. Great stuff! The doctors etc have all been promoted too - I think I actually prefer the financial manager being off in the ML.

Made a few signings - a GK, two CB, two LWF, a CMF and a CF, I've also got rid of some of the players who haven't quite done it for me the last few years. All my signings are now 80+ players, which is fantastic. Using the targets tool is the most effective way of getting cheap players who are quite good. I'd suggest listening to one of the posters above - there's no point wasting weeks trying to get players who just won't join.

Really enjoying the game now - this year's aim is the Champions League!

You should go upto superstar that's more realistic than top player, that's where I started with default players but was getting hammered so dropped it to pro really enjoying the master league as soon as I get a good squad together think I will go back to superstar, enjoying your story

does the ai seem a lot tougher on superstar in ml compared to other modes? And it seems to me that scripting is widespread in it too! I play on ps3 is it different on other consoles or has anyone else encountered this!!

I play as FC Copenhagen on superstar difficulty. 3rd season. I'm placed 10th in the league now - finally i've learned how to defend properly and how to release R2 and execute the tackle. The other day i found myself struggling against Szelawce and today i won against Ajax and Sevilla in the Europa League securing a spot in the final!

4 games left in the season, so probably no european football for me next season, but that gives me time to build up my team and get rid of irrelevant players i just bought in desperation prior to last season.
I've experienced that playing with quick counter and actually awaiting the opponent when facing big teams works great! then i play possession game against weaker sides. Really love the tactics aspects in the game this year.

FINALLY i managed to sign my beloved Rasmus Elm from AZ alkmaar on a free transfer. He's been a beast in the last 2 pes games, so i'm really looking forward to next season. Managed to land Sebastian Larsson from sunderland as well. So two decent signings and hopefully a couple more to come in the summer window.

Let's see if i can win the Europa League as total underdog.

Ive gone through a full season now with spurs and have an excellent squad of players but it seems player ratings go out the window in the ml........i love a challenge and that its harder coz ive won every other cup at a canter on superstar but i cant accept the level of ai cheating its ruining this great mode! Despite me dominating games i always concede stupid goals that you know are coming but cant defend coz the ai decides not to let you control your player!!
Hope they patch it to tone it down!!

^ Actually i thought the same way until this week. Then i've learned how to defend properly, and with my fc copenhagen (only consisting of scandinavian players) i managed to keep Tottenham, Arsenal and Sevilla from scoring on superstar totally dominating the games. There are some defending tutorials some where. Will try to post them later.

So i won both the Europa League and super cup as well. Participating in Europa League this season as well. Signed, Rasmus Elm, Bendtner, Sebastian Larsson, and Nilsson (defender) and sold 3-4 bad players so my squad is now ready for the task.

Having played 4 matches 3 wins and 1 defeat so far. Looks great now. I just have to play well in Europa League again.

Thank God not all posters are lazy suckers and cry babies.

^ Exactly. I really don't think konami implemented some kind of cheat feature, that the cpu can just turn on when they want to :) This year it just didn't take 2 weeks getting used to the new aspects in the game, and that may be why people are getting mad. Because they're impatient

BTW: finished my first ML season with Newcastle. 10th place.

But I have a strong feeling that my second season will be much better. And I praise myself of having defeated some of the strongest teams in PL, like Arsenal, Liverpool... including some trashes (4-0 victim: Fulham / 3-0 victim: West Brom / 4-1: Swansea / 4-1: Aston Villa). ;)

Had to sell Tioté (my best player in the past season) due to financial demands, but I bought a cheap Lolo (excellent anchor man he is!!!), and have a relatively strong midfield commanded by D'Agostino.
Bought Okaka as well, but after a while I realize how seriously I need a better CB. Not that Taylor and the others are crap, but I need an even better defender. Though I still don't have a clue who I'm going to buy.

Marveaux is a quality player, fast, agile, and had some good performances as well, but I decided to sell him. Probably the dumbest thing I made.

Ryan Taylor is my FK Taker, and scored some beauties. Quality player as well, I must add.

My top scorer was Leon Best (10 goals), and Demba Ba made a lot of assists.

Shimizu and Voichulerd developed incredibly quick. Palmieri is gradually becoming a classy and commanding player.

Ribeiro from your youth team is great. Sure his overall is crap but his height is 199cm and that is what I take advantage off. He is sure to win almost anyball in the air and is someone I need when I take a corner kick. He has some decent stats like 85 heading and he isn't very slow for a big young striker (73 top speed)

I definitely recommend him for a lower team as he is a beast (literally) and gets important goals when you need them. Also look for strikers with high responsiveness as they will always avoid the offside trap and can get in the end of thorugh balls like Inzaghi, Pazzini, Gilardino etc.

:How do you guys set your training?
I can't believe how shit the development and basic the training is this year.
I'm just half way through a season and the only stat i've noticed is Ganso's passing stat and ball control has reduced.I mean ffs, he's only a kid and his stats are going down.

:At the end of the season are you provided with indepth info and proggression of players stats?

:How does the money work out?Does your chairman just supply you with funds at the start of every season.Rather than making more from winning games?

They really have fucked this mode over with all the bs that they've added to make it more in depth.Japanese really are fucking clueless at time about football.
The communication is so, so bad with the players, "what am i supposed to think of that" it's like playing that abortion of a management game they released ages ago.

My Ganso has reduced but don't worry, they start improving again later for some reason. Just train your players depending on what they decrease on every week. If they don't decrease, put it on conditioning

Thanks for the tip Abu. I will look for Ribeiro. :)

As for you Makavelian, I guess you're messing up a bit with your training regimes. After my first season, I notice some improvements on many of my players, and the guys who suffered (significant) decreases are mostly the veterans.

I usually give a new plan after 1 week (sometimes 2 weeks) of training.
Some stats go down, there's nothing you can do about it in that moment, but you can always focus on those stats for the next sessions.
It all comes down to choosing a balanced training regime. At the end of my first season, I noticed that some stats suffered a slightly downgrade since day 1, but others increased.
I won't say I'm pleased with ML training in PES 2012, but I got used and I'm learning everyday.

This game isnt so bad when u can put a decent team together, not bad at all... in s2 d2, won about 5 games in a row, have 8 wins in total, which is more that i had in my best d2 season 1 b4 i got fired, in this one cheated a bit by restarting a game i had to win or get fired, blamed it a power failure that occured when i was leading a game earlier in the season... :) :)

currently 6th, winter break, hoping for some good signings...

Thanks for the tip Abu. I will look for Ribeiro. :)

Luisao, i noticed further above that you need a good defender. Try do a search for Rojo (argentina) He plays cb and lb - he is 187 tall and he actually develops decent passing stats as well, which i see as an important thing for even a cb.
Also Zanka is a young cb from fc copenhagen, who has great potential.

If you're looking for a quality goal scorer to maybe help you next season, try to sign Roux. He should be easy and cheap even though he has great stats even in the beginning of the game. I signed him when i was in div 2 and had that crappy scout.

I did apply the PESStatsDatabase Patch V1 yesterday (which contains the most realistic stats for most players), so I'll have to check if there is any significant change to the stats/player development of some of the players you mentioned, from the patch I used previously (PESEdit).
But I'll sure look for those guys, specially Rojo.

Muchas gracias Rasmus.

Hi to all. I play ML on superstar difficulty, don't handle the finances and negotiate directly.

My first attempt was with Everton. I played through two and a half seasons but unfortunately got sacked. I instantly dropped the Chairman's trust level to single digits at the end of the first transfer period as the team was forced to offload 3 players in order to remain in budget. So I think I should highlight that if you need to release players do it yourself, don't wait for it to be done automatically. . But anyway if you are a daredevil and like the challenge of the sack threat I should mention that the first players released were the ones that were on my transfer list.

I finished 8th in both 1st and 2nd season but qualified for Europa both times. I don't know how that happened to be honest! ;)

In the third season I had a quite strong squad but the Chairman issued an ultimatum before a 0-4 thrashing by Man Utd.....

It was a chronicle of a death foretold as I never managed to exceed trust level of say 15%...

I can't say I was very successful on the field. Too many wandered points and only a couple of wins against better sides. My highlight was a 4-2 win against the team I am now playing with, Aston Villa.

With Aston Villa I have been doing quite well, and I think I should mention that the ups and downs in psychology from previous versions have come back to me! I really enjoy it. All the doubts I have had about the game are more or less gone, and despite the fact the bugs do not go unmentioned, at least now the joy is much more frequent than the frustration of the first weeks.

I have left the tactics intact and tried to build my squad to fit it. 4-2-1-3 with both side attackers playing as WFs.

In my 1st season, I signed Neymar, Ganso, Baloy and Nolan. I placed Baloy alongside Dunne in defense, Nolan next to Jenas at midfield,Ganso as an AMF and Neymar was the first substitution as I decided to leave the front trio intact.

I was 7th in the final standings, and was thrown out of the FA Cup in the first round by QPR. Darren Bent certainly was my MVP.

Something that I had noticed in my second season with Everton also happened with Aston Villa. As the season progressed, team play and cohesion improved and also individual mistakes were reduced. I believe that this has to do with the progress of the teamwork as I played more and more games. Misplaced passes were less frequent, defenders wondering away from the ball more or less stopped and in general I felt that I approached a better level of play and that I was rewarded for playing my team to its strengths. I would really like to hear if anyone else has noticed this.

For the second season, I had already agreed to bring in Giroud for CF, Joey Barton for CMF and Danilo and Jucilei as replacements for RB and DMF/CMF. I then signed Westermann as a replacement CB in the summer and sold Nolan and Heskey. Except for Barton, all the other purchases were not starters through the season.

Despite starting with a 0-4 defeat against Lyon in the EL, I finished the group second and qualified easily as I beat Schalke 3-0 both home and away. The fourth team of the group was Rio Ave and was also beaten twice.

In the League I was doing ok. The Chairman had asked for a CL berth but that was simply not going to happen. I was around 6-8 for the biggest part of the season. In the Cup I was through to the QF. I really got to believe in my team after two draws, both away. Against Newcastle i came back from 3-1 and equalised in th last minute. Against Tottenham I was losing 2-0 until the 70th and also managed to get a draw.

In the winter transfer period I signed Candreva (AMF but had a rating of 87 for CMF) and Vadis, a Belgian DMF. I also decided to sell Baloy as he was constantly on bad form and his loyalty had deminished. I don't really know why. For his replacement I found a 16 year old who already had a rating of 83 and belonged to one of the "other" clubs. His name is Jaidi. Well I know that this is unrealistic and one of the "cheesy" aspects of ML but I have got used to it and I could say it has become a part of the experience through the years.

Just before the transfer period I lost 4-3 at Old Trafford despite going 1-3 ahead before HT... Then after the break I lost 2-0 against Man Utd for the FA Cup QF. Arrgh. keep this in mind as there is more to come about them....

After the transfers I got to notice that at least initially Candreva was not playing as well as Barton in midfield. In my opinion it was either because he was not a natural CMF or because he had not gelled with the rest of the team yet. This may sound crazy but it is something that I "felt" and I would really like to know if anyone else has noticed related things in the game.

As the season carried on, I subsequently went through Panathinaikos and Hoffenheim in the EL, both relatively easily. In the QFs I was drawn against Benfica and I started thinking that maybe I had a chance at this competition.

The first match was in Lisbon and before even getting anxious I was 2 goals ahead, both scored by Darren Bent whom I trusted disregarding his blue arrow!!!! I got to win 1-2. In the replay I drew 2-2 and I also went 2 goals up.

The semifinal was one of my greatest experiences of all time in the ML. I was playing against Valencia. First match at Home. They were really pressuring me but I got to score on a counter attack just before the HT whistle. in the second half, despite the fact that I tried to keep possesion their pressure was so overwhelming that at the 70th minute I was losing 1-2. I did not make too many chances, but in the last five minutes my replacement striker scored with a header that seemed highly unlikely for him to get! 2-2 after they lost a last minute one on one!

The away game started with a cheap goal scored for them, Aduriz brought one on one by a mistake from Jenas. Anyway the team managed to strike back and after equalising in the last minute of the 1st half I got ahead with a simple tip of the ball by Agbonlahor in the far post after a cross with the right foot from N' Zogbia. I was trying to keep possession as much as possible, but in the 89th minute they won a corner. The ball was headed away and Piatti volleyed it to the top corner.........

The extra time went on relatively harmlessly and in the 119th minute a long ball by Jenas found Giroud in front of goal, he went past the goalkeeper who fell in the feet of his defender and scored! Believe it or not they managed to come back just after the kick off but the time was up! The final would be played against Lazio.

In the league I was 7th, 4 points clear of Tottenham with two games remaining, Chelsea and Man Utd both away. The final was in between. Against Chelsea, I went ahead in the first half, lost a couple of good chances and then got equalised in the 80th minute. Just before the 90th minute Agbonlahor outran his defender (I think Malouda) got into the bo passed perfectly to Ganso who shot, the ball was touched by Cech and lost most of its speed. As it was going past the line it was kicked away by Terry. In the counter I conceded.... Tottenham won and were 1 point behind me now. But I had the final in mind and didn' really bother.

In the 7th minute of the final happened one of those things that make you want to put Seabass's picture on a dartboard! After a melee in the box, the ball went to its top corner. Mauri shot. At the time the keepers vision was hindered by the presence of a defender between him and the ball. As Mauri shot, the keeper decided to dive towards his post, and the ball went to the middle of the goal. 1-0 down. I have to admit that I was overall outplayed and lost 2-1 finally, but that shot will haunt me! To top that, Man Utd easily thrashed me 4-0, Tottenham won and I now was silverless and out of Europe!

I will come back with an update soon. Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading.

Interesting reading there mate. I have definetely noticed the difference you mention above - my team perform better as time goes by and they're teamwork abilities raise. It's really a delight to finally see my patience being rewarded after using 19,20,21 year old players for 3 seasons now.

However you mention that you do not handle the negitiations but negotiate directly? What are the differences regarding this ? I decide who i want to buy and negotiate their salary as well. So does your scout decide who to buy or?

Let me rephrase. "I don't have the management on and therefore I don't handle the finances and as far as transfers are concerned I use the option negotiate directly."
