Wasn't the patch just correct line-ups a few kit's and new boots or were you installing patch 1.01?

well on the start screen it now says ver 1.01, checked the madrid line up and adebayor was still there, and he shuldnt be...

man, i am having a terrible season, cant seem to win a match, my players are always bitching about everything, signed a useless RWF that hasnt done anything not worthy, need to sell the bagga off...

i have also realised it is difficult to sign players in div1, while you are in div2, also a player who is having a good season will rarely come down to my whack team.. free agents are the best

Just got promoted after 2 years in D2, after a hard 2nd season I won my last 3 games to go up as Champions. "Yehhhhhhhh!!!" I was thinking. Then once I strengthened by team and got rid of some of the dead wood, I awaited what the Chairman was expecting for me and my group of overpaid, 2 left footed retards, or my Squad as their better known as.

I was thinking the Chairman would say something along the lines of, "Avoid relegation" or "Cement the club as a top flight team" but oooooooooh no. The delusional moron at the head of my very VERY average club want's me to get into the Europa League.

This isn't very realistic to set the bar that high, I'm predicting I'm going to be in a relegation fight and after losing my 2 opening games 3-1 and 3-0, both away thank god, I think my prediction is pretty much dead on.

It's a shame it jumps the expectations so high. If I do reach the impossible and get into Europe, what will he want next year? the Title no doubt.

Still having fun though, and even though I was battered off Arsenal in my opener and beat 3-0 off Aston Villa, there was a lot of positives I can take out of my last game. 3-0 was flattering to the Claret and Blue outfit, with my lads deserving more than what they got.

QPR next at home and I need 3 points in that one to kick start my season.

I can't even sell my classic team players, not even 1 of them, let alone get that amount of money for them.

I have all of them on the transfer list too. And loan list as well.

How did you go about selling them? Do you have transfer frequency set to high? Did you sell them on the very first transfer window when you start the game, or later?

EDIT: ...I didn't realize I registered that long ago. 2004, and 7 years later, my first post. Hahaha.

Are you in D2 stiker or top league.

I've played 5 games since getting promoted and hmmmm, having a hard time of it. Won 0 drawn 1 Lost 4.

Drew my last game 0-0 against Newcastle. Tempted to knock it down to regular but I know if I do that you can just run 1 player around the opponents half without anybody tackling you, so looks like I'll stick with it.

Yeah i don't think that the chairmans expectations matches my players abilities either - In my first season he also wanted me to qualify for the Europa League. I thought forget about it, but in the last fixture i won and secured the 7th place 1 point ahead of liverpool.
Thank god i thought, but now the chairman wants me to get in to "the promised land of champions league" as he puts it!! So i signed one of the most expensive scouts in the game - and NONE of my bids gets accepted. Not even when i try to buy 19-20 year old players from Rosenborg and AIK. Seriously frustrating when the weakest scout out there landed Bendtner for me!
Have played 6 games in the Premier League so far, and i am placed 7th.
In Europa League i have played 3 games one defeat, one draw and one victory - I play 4-5-1 with very wide wingers and counter attack in Europa League since it didn't work out very well with the 4-4-2 tactic like it does in the league.

The problem is it won't get any much better in the second season. I also won 4 or 5 games and got fired after about 10 games in the season 2 on professional. I restarted ML and had a good streak of 1:0 wins and 0:0 but I am frustrated by not being able to score and started losing again. AI jumps on me and intercepts any through ball or out runs shimizu with crappiest defenders. The best bet is to hope for some weirdo cross finishing, but no satisfaction because I want to score my way. I am also playing another ML in parallel on regular and it is absolutely clear that players stats are dumbed down on professional and cpu is much more aggressive. I wish regular had attack of professional and defense cpu aggressiveness is about right on regular (imo).

You have to play defensive tactics, even if your formations isn't defensive orientated. GET PLAYERS BACK, your active AI will check players runs so when they receive the ball, you can jocky them to hold up their play. When playing in D2, I had to treat every game as a draw, then if I got a win it was a bonus. Defence I found was the key even if you look back at match stats and you have most of the possession.

Then when you get the ball, KEEP IT, move it around from left to right and vice versa, play back if you have to, don't be afraid of using long pass to switch wings, it's a much more useful tool this year. Keep the ball moving in the final third to pull holes in their back line...then the right stick it the key, to get a player to make runs into the box for a chance...not always a goal but at least a shot, or use them as a dummy to open up space for you to have a run and crack yourself.

Don't play a high back line if your using default ML players, if they get past you, your not catching them and Counter Attack is a bitch to recover from.

Don't panic. Don't rush into a challenge. Hold them up till you have players back then try and win the ball......if you miss it then...it's not the end of the world.

When defending, make sure your controlling the right player in the right area of the pitch, if your CB is trying to jocky / close up play at the halfway line when your under pressure, there's something wrong, that should be your CM/DMF. Don't lose your shape.

Think about the above paragraph while attacking but the other way round, YOU WANT THEM TO COMMIT PLAYERS, pull them about with possession, create gaps, look for opportunities to play the cross or though ball, but don't rush... and it will take practice.

The game is good this year. ML offline with the ML default is gonna take a lot of work, I'm not going to be in the Champion's league after 3 seasons like the last few instalments, I like that. I'm getting hammered off Man Utd and holding on to 1-0 home wins against Wolves in my virgin year in the EPL...like it should be.

GOOD LUCK ALL..........

YOUR GONNA NEED IT ;)

Thanks for this insight . I find what you are saying is absolutely right. It is just best to stick with defense if you want to survive. It does require patience. Btw I am following your progress .Lee. How are you doing in D1? Is it the same survaval kind of game? Also when you won your second season in D2 what was the goals scored to conceded ratio for the entire season? The problem is that I am not enjoying so many 0:0 or 1:0 games and was hoping it would change the next season. I am totally fine with defending, but I cant damn score! it does not look it will change in the season 2 or am I wrong? How was it for you in D2 when you seem to have won it? Also is there danger that if you get relegated back to D2 the chairman rating will approach zero and this nut will fire you? What is your current chairman's support level?

Just started a ML, My quest is return Notts Forest to europeon glory.
Managed to bring in a couple of players, My big signing was John Utaka who so far has played 3 games and done sod all!!!!!!

My leading scorer is Hamsun(some crappy default guy) with a huge 1 goal tally.
My keeper couldnt catch a pissing cold.

My stats at the minute are played 5 lost 2, drawn 2 and won 1.

Really enjoying it though.

To answer a few of your questions straight away

Chairman backing:- 44%
D2 ratio goals :- 2-1

And yes I'm finding top flight a survival fight. I'm lucky I guess that I have played Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal all away from home in my first 8 games...lost all as well although I could have earned a point against City, they scored from a corner in injury time which may have been a scripted goal, but I'm not gonna rant and rave about scripting, there better than me and had enough chances to beat me with a higher score than 2-1.

I bought a Brazilian player HAKCATIN, who was in my (List of targets) who is 90 overall and only at a market value of 600k which makes his wage lower than most players of his calibre. He's an awesome AMF, I give him the ball at every opportunity, he keeps it well, can deliver killer passes and has a mean right boot on him.

I still have trouble scoring, so again I'm playing build up play from the back, I'm desperate for a striker who can score goals as most goals I do score come from Corners or a lucky though ball, but I do create chances and my possession is 60-40 even against the best teams, shame that most of that time is in my own half.

I did try to go on a more aggressive approach against Wigan but found myself 2-0 down at the break, so reverted back at half time and clawed it back to 2-2.

My main CF BERIGAUD is 71 overall now, but doesn't score many and he's up front on his own, so I need a finisher.

^ Lee, try out Bendtner. He is awesome. Unfortunately he has put renewal on hold in my ML even though we're placed 6th in my 2nd season in division 1!! :(
