There's a demo out for readers of........The Sun : | and if you pre-order from certain stores you get one.

The 360 version is meant to be very different, less teams, leagues and a new engine, so even if the PS2 version is 9/10 the 360 version could be same old same old.

We shall see.

That's abit shit. If there's no second divisons for each league, it'll grow old fast.
Yeah, I'm bored of PES because it doesnt have the Championship. :|

Please stop. Most of you look ridiculous, you bash FIFA, but PES has it's faults too, but seeing as you fanboys seem to be blinded half the time, you don't notice them. Wake up muppets.

I've seen videos of Fifa 07 on youtube and people have been saying its just the same old gameplay as ever and you can see that the way the players run and cross the ball.

Fifa - Non Editable.
PES - Editable.

PES wins.

Roflcopter. Konami could put a steaming pile of turd in the box and you will still buy it.

FIFA will be as good as PES, one day. Its ignorant to think not. Lets face it, FIFA is improving quicker than PES. The only weak link FIFA has is the gameplay, but if they can nail that, then we have the best football game - because EA have already got the advantage over Konami in pretty much all other areas of the game. PES has great gameplay, but everything else is in dire need of improvement - the master league, presentation, audio, visual, online, licenses.

Put it this way, Konami has more work to do than EA does. But thats just my opinion.

Having played the FIFA demo now, I can't believe there is someone at EA that actually said 'it's a wrap'.

There's absolutely no telling who are the speedy players, as they all run the same pace. Don't expect lighting runs down the side. It all feels so half done.

Having said that, it's a relief from the previous FIFA's. The passing is still dodgy(it seems to randomly pick out when you will have a bad pass), but the overall feel is nice. The tackles are in order, although it's still fairly easy to pounce it in from 30 yards out.

I think ill try the new fifa, but overall i believe fifa is aimed at younger gamers (ignoring the age tag on pro) but it just seems so easy to play fifa, you actually have to put your mind into pro evo.

Is FIFA 07 out now?

Well, I thought I wouldn't put the whole review in, but a summary.

Is this the campaign where Fifa finally comes good. We hate keeping people in suspense, so we'll tell you the answer now: It's a resounding "yes" Fifa 07 is a brilliant football game. While most of the changes contained within are evolutionary on paper, the end result is a revolution for tjis much-maligned series.

Starting with a physics change
In previous Fifa's the ball's movement was set by the animation. If the keeper dived to the left to save a shot, for example, the ball would always spin out of his hands in the same direction - the one the animation dictated. Now it' entirely context sensitive, so the flight of the ball is prompted by more complex variables like a bounce friction and topspin. For the most part thismeans the ball responds in a far more realistic manner. We're not just talking about spinning through the air when you hit a 30-yard humdinger-we mean moments of beautiful randomness.
Case in point, late in the Merseyside derby, Tim Cahill belts a long range effort past Reina and against the post. The ball comes back into play, hits Reina's knee, loops up into the air, and falls perfectly for the onrushing andy johnston to happily nod into an empty net.

The cleverest thing is these freak moments of drama don't happen in every other game- they're as irregular as in real-life football. In the 60 matches we played we saw three free kicks awarded for hand balls two goals scored from longe range shots deflecting from long range shots deflecting off a defenders backside and one-beautiful in swinging corner that dipped over the keeper and crashed agains tthe bar. You'll occasionally spot sneaky shirt pulls and not-so-subtle shoves in the back, keepers over stretchingand failing to hold crosses and desperate goal-line clearances, small details that not only underline how context senstitive everythign now is, but also that the sweetspot goals that hampered previous Fifa's has gone.

Simple passing is effortless, and the pace is such you can retain possession easily in defence and midfield.

Shooting is now context sensitive, depending on the timing, angle. Long range peaches are still possible but they now require some skill.

There are also first touch features left in, but you don't need them to beat a player, a turn of pace can be as effective.

Sure there are flaws if you look hard enough, for example keeper charge, regularly leaves your man from the nets at the edge of his box watching the ball flying past him, and the old problem of players feeling generic in comparison to the brilliantly individual casting of Pro Evolution remains, but not as pronounced as previous versions.

However, none of these minor issues can detract from the fundemental changes to the gameplay which has had an entriely positive effect.

There's still scope for improvementbut Fifa is now a serious contender for the footie crown Exactly how uch ground it's made on PES this year will only become clear in next months review of PES6

GRAPHICS 8 - Looks great, but some animations are still off
SOUND 9 - Clive tyldeslay and Andy Gray in top form
GAMEPLAY 9 - EA nails footy at long long last
LIFESPAN 9 - PLenty of game against both AI and your mates
OVERALL 9/10

Played Fifa Demo. Crap

So, I'l be brief. I didn't expect Fifa to surpass the realism that has been hokking me on PES for years now. What I expected was a fresh approach and a playable game, in order to enjoy decently a fully licensed game. Fifa 07 is pretty fucking far from being playable, so i think I'll stick to PES only this year. But, it just doesn't feel righ: players still move akward, there are still some glued balls, very few feints, zero complexity and the list could go. on My suggestion is: don't play it, unless you'r trying to unveil your masochistic sides. Cheers

Having played the PC demo (which is essentially the PS2 version), I can safely report that Konami's crown is still firmly on its head.

I'll post a review i did for another site later on.

1-No way, Fifa 07 will never pass Pes 06. Simply, because the most important point in any game is the gameplay, then anything comes after. Regarding the last point, EA needs years to reach Konami (And this can happen only if Konami stands in its place without improvement, and I think this could not happen).

2-When we talk about licenses, I think it is not a big issue. PES is editable and that's enough. As you know you can edit any part of the game either through OF or a patch. While Fifa you can't. I enjoy edit every part of the game without getting bored for hours and hours.

3-James, what do you mean by visual?!!!!!! PESs have won !!!!!!

4-The apparent point of weakness in PES is the audio including the commentary, chants and of course the music of the menus. I hope there will be much improvement in the upcoming titles.

to me, the biggest problem with PES is the lack of licenses. Yes I realize it isnt their fault, but why cant you program a season or franchise mode and just name it differently? Why cant I play the UEFA cup and the English Premier League, with international friendlies, etc, without having to setup that ridiculous and unrealistic "master league"? Why cant the announcers say all the teams names, even if they arent licenses, they can still call them by the team name if you have an option to rename it. and the stat tracking is awful. goals and assists... thats it??? the graphics look subpar, I dont expect them to look like FIFA, but cmon, I sure hope the next gen 360 version looks better than that!

If you talk about current gen comparisons then its a no brainer-PES all the way.

However, I have been impressed with the FIFA 360 version which, if you look at the videos on xboxyde then you will notice alot of similarities in gameplay.

The graphics etc on FIFA07 will be better but they let themselves down with the little touches that bring an immersive game together.

1 player animation is often too rigid and "animated"

2 goalkeeping is often repeated when you shoot, with an almost sort of slowdown when the ball gets close

3 The net physics are and have always been dreadful, current gen is like scoring in chicken wire whilst the next gen appears to be heavy.

4players looking like zombies although this is easing now we move to next gen No 3

PES is fluent and arouses that feeling of excitement when you score the net fly's in all directions and the players reel away realisticaly.

If PES can crack the atmospheric side of the game then yes it is again a no brainer but FIFA i think on the 360 is gonna surprise us.

Really was shocked at how good FIFA 07 is. It's a great game. Going to give PES a run for it's money. But obviously PES all the way...

every year I must go through, this crap(6 yrs now). I keep hearing how great it is, spend a couple of cents to rent it for a while, play a few games, maybe even enjoy a few. But then the monotony sets in, by which time I return the game and happily pop in the pes tribute to football. Somehow I doubt this year will be any different.

Since i own Fifa 07 i must say one thing, its fun for a while, but then you realise that its not too much different at all from the previous World cup installment in terms of gameplay. Plus, all the fuss about Graphics, the Fifa players always look pretty blobby to me and always seem to run like Paul Telfer ie with there arms up in a weird position. the faces.. well they are ok but the eyes always freak me out, Pro Evo seems to have much more animation in the face department. I have Winning Eleven 10 aswell and if i were to choose which one i find much more Enjoyable and immersive to play then its Winning Eleven all the way :)
