Pes 2010 was great and had less bugs but was still to basic compared to pes 2012.
Pes 2012 contained the fundamentals of football whilst Pes 2012 tried to enhance an has left a few bugs.
Hope in pes 2013 seabass gets fired and someone can build on pes 2012

ya 2012 reminds me a lot of 2010, like you said 2010 was a good game, 2012 seems to be a mixture of 10 and 11 resembling 10 much more but with much more depth. Unfortunately the depth also brought us more bugs.

i did buy 10 and 11. all i remember from 10 was that it sumtimes crashed on the entrance scene. did they fix that.

but why no love for pes09. take away the out of date menus the game play was good. it felt like freedom. you could have proper shots ok it was a bit arcady but you could have mad goal mouth scrambles.

games since then sometimes feel like your playin on ice

my problem with 12 is it dont always feel like its you. thats why i never liked fifa because it feels like the cpu doing everything for you like when you go to kick the ball it will do some overhead kick.

the amount of times i go to head it or clear the balll in pes 12 and it goes the wrong way is so frustation

PES 5 on ps2 has to be the best. I have never experienced a master league as good as the good old days!

So many memories,

Group stage of Champions League (think it was WE cup or something), lost the first 3 games, but finished up winning last 3 games to qualify. Managed to make the final but think i lost.

Had this striker called Bsorak, he was fantastic, had him till he retired. When he was older and declining i would only play him in the big games and he would still play well scoring important goals.

Had some fantastic games against Man u (i was made up team, Canvey Eagles)
one game i think they were top and we were second. Rooney was coming back from injury and on their bench. Amazingly i went into a 2-0 lead in the first half hour, and they panicked and brought Rooney on. Within a couple of minutes he went off injured again, classic PES.

I still edit and update it and me and my brother play it a couple of times a month, and is still great.

PES 2012 on ps3 is probably the best but still waiting for Chimps gameplay file before i start a ML.

Don't think any game will give as much as PES 5 did, simply because we expect too much now from new generation consoles.

Pes 6 for the 360.

Those old games does not cut it anymore in terms of quality. Yes they (PES5, PES6 etc.) have a "cult status" effect, and they were good once upon a time. But even PES6 can't be measured fairly with a half broken PES12.

Besides, FIFA12 can be modded and tweaked into a fairly good game without much difficulty. If you bother taking the time to do it, that is. It's still shallow in terms of tactical depth, but compared to PES6... need I say more?

For the record, I think PES12 is better than FIFA12, despite all the quirks and annoyances PES got.

PES 5 was great, probably the greatest at the time. I don't think any game has ever been more superior to it's rivals than that game to be honest. I switched back to PES 5 after two days with PES 6. PES 5 was that good at the time, in my opinion.

But we don't expect too much from this generation of games. All we ask is a refined AI, and that has been produced MANY times before. Take one quick glance at the American Football games on the market, especially those from the late 90's and early 2000's, great games with almost perfect AI. Their animations are easily on PES2010 standards too, btw. Both American footy and football games involve marking and movement both offensively and defensively, so the basics of the AI should be easily translated from one game to the other.

We are not expecting too much, programmers and game companies are just a bunch of lazy sons of whores... that's the major problem!

I agree with you that we don't expect too much from programmers, they should use the ps3 or xbox to their full potential. But on ps2, we expected football as a computer game, when we got a little bit more ('wow look at what happened there!' pes moment) we were well pleased.

I remember seeing a player down injured off the ball and the ref had to stop the game and give drop ball. Wow i had never seen that before in a game and i didnt expect it.

I remember Barthez being a bit inconsistent in goal and Khan being unstoppable, again something that i didnt really expect. So was amazed to see Barthez come charging out the box and bringing my player down and getting sent off.

But now we expect every player to play like real life, every team to play like real life, we want every team to be licensed, every kit right, every ball, every boot. But most of all we expect the gameplay to be realistic. And rightly so, we should expect these things.

But when we expect a lot more we can get dissapointed a lot more. (i sound like a politician).

Hopefully they will crack it eventually and bring us a classic PES on new generation consoles. Hopefully before i reach 70 and get arthritis.

All current gen don't hold a candle to the originals for game play, hence their lowly position. Haven't played 12 and only brief play on 11 makes it impossible for me to rate them.

Anyone that says Pes 2012 isn't the best on next-gen needs to actually watch football

Totally agree. You can slag KONAMI off for animations, their outdated retro bullshit, and general weird quirkiness, but on the pitch the attacking and defending AI is quite superb.

This year I think the defending is a revelation, it's that good. I get more enjoyment out of keeping a clean sheet than scoring goals, and when you consider that the amount of goals you see is so varied in terms of the final execution and build up, that is the highest praise I can give it.
