About the manual talk, what gets me are the guys who are so far up their own arse, claiming that anything other than manual is "cheating" because it's too easy to "ping-pong" the ball around.

I think it's bullshit myself. If I tried ping-ponging it around (like some people I play online do) I wouldn't be able to control the game and I'd end up having players out of position all over the pitch. Defending against it isn't too difficult either as long as you're goal side.

I played FIFA09 to death - it does have some nice features. My favourite is the first touch - when the ball is approaching your player, you move the right stick and your player will knock the ball in that direction. It helps a lot when an attacker wants to break free from a defender for example. Nice touch. I also like that FIFA's passing is manual - or at least it feels that way.

The 360 dribbling in the FIFA10 demo is very nice; makes quite a difference I think. Much better than PES10's.

Thanks - is there a complete list of controls somewhere? I've only played the PES10 demo and I'm trying to decide between FIFA10 & PES 10 (I have FIFA08 and played FIFA09 to death), I prefer a slower, more realistic game.

I'm waiting to see what Santa brings me.

I play PES on the PC and recently bought a PS3 and got FIFA 10 with it. FIFA truly feels next generation with it's animations and passing. However you can only really play it one way, by passing the ball around and then playing a throughball. 99% of my goals come from throughballs. It is impossible to dribble in FIFA 10, the dribbling stat of your player does not matter at all. All you can do is run fast into open space. Therefore a player like Agbonlahor is just as effective as Messi. Pro Evo gives you multiple ways to play a game, you can dribble, you can pass, you can cross. If Pro Evo improves it's player animations then it would be undesputed king. Pro Evo is more fun but at the sametime can be more frustrating due to bad keepers.

I think if u press the start button in the middle of a match u'll see a list go to help then controller... or something like that u'll find a list of all the controls

PES this year looking at the feed back has lots of issues also FIFA has lots of bugs like the -2 billion dept in MM or the freezing arena>>>

but in terms of gamplay FIFA this year is the winner...

Fifa > PES right now.

Ok after a few months of playing the new PES I still dont like it.

Dundons got the new Fifa and we had a couple of games and I have to admit that I wanted more and wanted to keep playing it, after adjusting the controls to have them the same as the PES controls (X = Pass/Triangle = Through Ball etc) I started it enjoying even more, the keepers arent bad and never seem to spill the ball right at the opponents feet, the tricks are gorgeous and the animation is good but for the most part the gameplay is excellent. I have never played any of the Fifa series because I never liked them, the players always looked small and stumpy, they had no freedom of movement, the keepers were shit and all the time there graphics were better than PES's but the gameplay was shit therefore I have always been a PES fan but I can firmly say "No more", I will not bring myself back to playing the new PES because its no fun and it feels like a struggle on my wrists to move the players, I shall be playing the new Fifa from now on.

You obviously haven't grasped the timing aspect of the game then, much like real life, you have to time that touch so when the player makes their move, your move couteracts it. For example, just before you feel they are about to tackle, do your dribble/movement/skill/flick the right stick.

Flicking the right stick seems to be more effective, and player like Messi have the speed to catch up with the ball before the defender.

Also, hold RT and LT and dribble. He maintains a decent pace whilst keeping the ball close to feet. If you even tried looking for tutorials and even looking at the video tutorials EA offer in-game, you'd have probably known this by now.

The first touch option is superb. There are so many ways you can trap the ball or move it forward effectively. First touch all depends on the type of ball you are trying to control. Some players also have special abilities with first touch, they will use it more effectively than others. I sometimes try to be to clever and end up first touching it to an oncoming forward.
