Thank you soliloquay, for that link.
Speaking of flaws, don't you guys find the through balls are way too accurate in this game? The computer doesn't use them very well, but online I find that most of the good players score the vast majority of their goals via through balls and looped through balls.
It doesn't take much skill either. Just look at your radar when you have the ball in midfield, and if your strikers are roughly in line with their back line, hit a through ball. About half the time you'll get a clear or semi-challenged one on one with the keeper. If your striker is someone strong and fast like Ronaldo or Vieri, it works more like 60 or 70 percent of the time.
The worst part is, there is no way to defend against it (if someone knows a reliable way, do tell). Even if you manage to switch control to the right back line defender in time (difficult given the primitive L1-cycle-through-players-system), a smart player will simply continue to dribble up the pitch, forcing you to switch to a man to challenge him before slotting through a through ball.
I used to pride myself on my defence. I rarely get scored upon by the computer or mates and never more than one goal. But after some 6 goal thrashings online I realised something was wrong. It's the through ball. Now my whole offence focuses on the through ball and a lot of games degenerate into high scoring "through ball competitions".
As a final example, one guy online amassed an impressive record with Uruguay by packing his defence with a 6-2-2 formation. His reasoning was that he only really needed 2 midfielders and 2 strikers to score: pass, pass, through ball, repeat. He beat me 2-0 scoring both his goals on breakaway through balls, and is currently in the top Division.
Try it yourself. Throw through balls to the strikers every chance you get and see if your scoring goes up. What do you guys think? Through balls too dangerous in WE118LE?
