WWF No Mercy (N64)

Couldn't find a thread for this, and even though it's over ten years old, it bloody deserves one. Best wrestling game ever, none of them SvR or other franchises have got anywhere near it since IMO.

Obviously genuine N64s aren't on every table these days, but via Emulation the console's gone through a resurgence.

Anyone still playing this? There are some pant wetting texture mods and hacks available to modernise it...

I never had the fortune of playing WWF No Mercy. I never had an N64, so that was out of the question really.

Just came across this on YouTube after looking at No Mercy videos, and in all honesty, the TNA Impact game look quite good, probably better than recent Smackdown games:

Nothing touches it Hunter, it's the best. Got the N64 down recently - this, VPW 2 and WCW/NWO Revenge are pure gold.

Barn speaks the truth, Tommy. It's head and shoulders the best of all time. The graphics are a little ropey by modern standards of course, but the gameplay's spot on.

Are you playing on a real 64, Barn? Respect.

Still have my N64 and 50 games up in the wardrobe. Every now and then me and the lads break it out for the Wrestling.

We're hardcore Matt, we listened to "dick dick diggety dick diggety dog" off an N64 cartridge.

I prefer Revenge though for the hillarity of Kim Chee and Mingh Chee in battle royale mode, as well as Eric Bischoff 7 second KO's

It is happening again
I only played it a few times, I always preferred the Smackdown games. Particularly the 2nd one, and the first 2 or 3 on the PS3. Then I went off wrestling. I actually bought the first SvR game on ps2, because I heard good things (this was after I stopped watching wrestling), but found it to be so shit I traded it in after less than a week!

As Jonno said, we don't do things by half - you're addressing real fags here. Back in the day I got Revenge, Wrestlemania and No Mercy on US import, and paid £70 for the Japanese import Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. I love AKI wrestling games more than Jonno's life itself.

Yeah I play it on my PC every now and then, have my N64 pad plugged in PC through a usb connector, but the analogue sticks on those things are shit and mines broke so my guy starts taunting whenever he wants........

I have it. It's not very good at all.

No Mercy was amazing. I remember having an epic triple threat ladder match for the IC title with a friend and his brother. Jericho vs Angle vs Benoit. Went on for like 45mins.

Survival mode was a lot of fun.

Did anyone ever manage to get enough money to buy the Godfather's ho? My brother did. Then he game me the game and a few months later, the game froze and wiped everything :(

Such a shame that AKI haven't made a new (wrestling) game since.

"Break it"

Socko.

I remember once another aquaintance of ours had set up a ladder to do a Swanton Bomb on one of us through the commentator table, it had taken him a while to set up and my guy tumbled into the ladder sending him through the table himself, he was quite pissed off to say the least, Jeff Hardy fag that he was.

Smackdown mall......

Yeah I still have an n64 with the cartridge in it. Never gets old.

To be fair though, WWE 12 does look interesting and for the first time in years I will be checking it out. RTWM and Universe modes look good, seeing the Nitro, Clash of the Champions and Starrcade arenas in there to go with create an arena is awesome, and finding out Savage is gonna be in the game alongside Demolition, Vader, LOD etc is pretty immense.

Gameplay still scares me with WWE 12. They say they have overhauled it, but it looks the same to me. Will have to wait and see, but the modes and editors in the game look top notch. Won't deny that.

I still can't believe No Mercy used a guy like Richards as a replacement for the Big Show. Him being involved with The Rock, HHH and Foley was just so wrong.

Yeah the earlier carts did have a tendency to do that, sadly. And AKI so need to involved in making a current gen wrasslin game. That'd boot anus.

This is the mod I'm playing at present;

There's a great Legends mod by some guy called Iccotracs (or something like that) but he's going at a snail's pace unfortunately.

This dude called KingKanyon is doing some really good work, too. Just about to see if I can get his music mod to work.

Greatest Wrestling game ever IMHO, I still have it up in my Attic.

lol......memories.

The whole game was epic though and the multiplayer was just superb, even when dq'd or thrown out of a match you could still interfere if somoene was thrown out of the ring and grabbing the feet to pull out an active player was awesome and great fun if your the one doing the pulling....the weapons were serious also and the crowd was great....just an overall great great legendary game and this thread has brought back some great memories.
