Yes, the X-Port is prefectly legal. There's no dodginess involved at all. It's like making a backup of a document onto a floppy disk but you use you make a backup of your option files onto your PC hard disk.

Small Problem.
I have set up the X-port and all the hardware that comes with it. When I go to transfer the data from my mem. card to the ps2, a message appears on the screen saying
"error connecting usb to ps2"
I'm baffled as to what's wtong, I've been switching cables about for the last 10 minutes with no success.
Anyone got an answer?

Yep.
It's a common problem with x-ports. It's just a software prob.
Like the message "This file is not suitable for the PS2" when I first open the x-port program.
As you can imagine, my x-port gets a lot of use, loading goals up. These messages are just temporary.

Only way round it is to switch everything off & try again.

I bet you using PES3?? If you usint WE7/7I then it is a common know that the xport works SOMETIMES bad with memory cards with ML data and formation data on it. Havent heard any problems with PES3 files though. Just retry and retry and.........

Unplug all the cables and blow down them to remove any dust. Plug them all back in again. Try plugging the cables into different USB ports. Are you using windows XP? If so then the hardware wizard should pick up that you've plugged in an 'unkownk' usb device. just go through the add hardware wizard to install the cable as "X-Link Cable". That's what happened to me and it works fine now.

Yes I do ^_^. Oh 50! If what I said doesn't work, this might: I know it's stupid but have you got the X-Port disc in your PS2?

I am assuming that there is a faulty part, I will be sending it back and getting a replacement, as well as complaing to Datel about their troubleshooter service.
