You just need to put the PS2 X-Port disk (small blue label saying PAL on it) into your PS2 and let it load. It should come up with a screen which says
"Waiting for command"

Then make sure your cables are hooked up properly between your USB ports of your PS2 and PC. Make sure you have a memory card in the PS2 card slot 1.
Then you load the X-Port program on your PC and it should connect.
Try using different USB ports if it doesn't work.

Good luck.

sorts getting really p---ed off now.I have windows xp i have heard from some where that i may need to download some drivers to get this to work
anybody know anything about this as i fear the joys of xport are forever
out of reach, and it shall be sent back pronto, never to be reorderd again

If you have an "error connecting usb to ps2" message, then it's possible you have some WE7 goals on your memory card. If you delete these, then it should work fine.

john king - check this out.
I've had to switch USB ports for my X-Port a couple of days ago.
Tried using it today and I got the same error message as you.
'Error connecting to USB' or something.
It wanted to install drivers for the X-Port as it detected new hardware so I put in the PC X-Port disk and selected and manual option to load from the disk and it copied the drivers it wanted and then it worked fine.

You can store as many as you like in the PC Database; just do them one by one, "Import" the file there, then click where it says "PES Opt file..", change the name, so you know which is which.
You can only "Restore" one to your mem card at a time, though.
I think most of the basics are covered in the first page of this thread, though...

One option file per memory card for each different game.
That means you can have one option file for PES3 on your mem card or else the second one will overwrite the first one.

Iv just downloaded Zoidberg's file to use, it all looks great but when i select my teams then go to the kit choice screen it freezes!
Any ideas?

It doesn't in mine, it just takes a few seconds longer, just be patient. If this doesn't work, then send the option file to the X-Port again.
