You have to go online to install a game? What about the people that don't want to pay for X-Box live or just play offline? They can't play at all then?

This is why I still hold onto consoles like N64's. No bullshit, plug in and play.

Gone are the days of bringing your copy of Pro Evo down to a mates house to play.

What about people who can't get online at all? Will they not be able to play their games?

Update: Sounds like things are a mess over at Microsoft. Now they're telling Polygon that Harrison's comments illustrate a "potential scenario."

"While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail," a Microsoft rep said. "There have been reports of a specific time period — those were discussions of potential scenarios, but we have not confirmed any details today, nor will we be."

As that representative said, nothing was confirmed. I'm hoping this whole install thing is based around if you take a game to a friends house you can play it straight from the disc but if your friend wants to install it s/he has to pay a fee.

I also guarantee the PS4 will have some kind of fee too, EA got rid of their online passes so how else will they make their extra money!

If I remember correctly (when I had a 360), you only had to pay for Gold membership. Silver is free, but you can't have online gaming. I think it was only for updates and miscellaneous downloads. I would've thought, as long as you have Silver (or the One's equivalent), you don't have to pay to be online, so can still play and install games. Regardless, the option to play without a connection should be available.

I like it. Controller especially. Just I don't care about all the TV crap. Other than that looks ok.

To be fair I am thinking of building my own console, with xbox one controllers, windows 8 basic and xbmc. Pretty sure thats the best idea.

If you can't afford the internet or a gold subscription then what the fuck are you doing spending £300-£400 on a console in the first place? It's 2013 ffs.

That said, I currently have no intention on buying an Xbox One or PS4. Not until I can't play my 360 games online, that is.

Not liking the "one game per console" rubbish. I have two 360s, as do a couple friends. What happens when you want to install it to two consoles? Pay twice? Fuck that.

Can also see the second hand market die a quick and very painful death.

Maybe they live in some backwards part of the world like Burnley, where they don't have internet but would still like to play Xbox?

If that's the case, and you live in Burnley, you're probably too preoccupied in shagging your sister to want to play on an Xbox.

Ziss as long as you log on with the same account it dose not matter what machine you are using, you'll only pay once. it when you change accounts that you have to pay. its still a odd way of working it.

As long as that's the case, then that's cool.

Like I said, unless it really does blow everyone's mind, I won't be getting it. Very happy with my 360.

There's a family feature too, so you could always use that as a way to let your friends borrow a game.

Might be a bit harder if you buy a pre owned game, this is just the stepping stone to things like Steam and iTunes apps. No one complains about not being able to buy pre owned games off their.
