That should result in a penalty. Happened to me a couple of times.

You can do the double step-over and run with L1 and the direction pad too. Tap L1 three times and you're player will do a few stepovers then press forward (with R1) and your player will hit it in front of him. Very similar to what C. Ronaldo and other wingers do.

It's not a major fault by any means. I remember when WE7 came out, there was big hoopla about it (especially on evo-web). I thought it was quite annoying too, and as a first impression, quite a let-down. I've learnt to eradict it from my system, however, and I rarely come across it when I play...

Appearance is the only real difference. They are built (graphic-wise) to look like real-life referees which is the case with the Collina look-a-like. The Jap ones remind me of a few from the World Cup, too.

I wouldn't mind having the same commentators back again. They aren't the problem. It's the scripting. If that was changed then I'm sure the commentary would be a whole lot better since the commentators would have a whole lot more to work with. Not some incoherent, badly translated English...

Good article on the game as well as others that I have saved on my PC. A bit too complicated for my liking in ML. If they made an English version, it would be a hit.

I'm waiting on the ISSExtreme version, myself. Should have the bugs ironed out and I remember them doing a good job with the option file for the BETA version.
