I've gotta say after the first couple of plays I was a little unsure, but the more I played it the more I loved it.

I certainly can't wait for the full game to be released.

For all those who made their minds up after 1 or 2 plays, you're mugs, it's a terrific game that will get better when you get the full version and are able to tweak certain things.

I'm definately going to buy this game, but unfortunately it will be the last time I'm going to be happy with a few minor upgrades. If Konami doesn't improve the ML a lot next year, more teams (licensed of unlicensed), more leagues, more animations, more stadiums...I won't buy PES10. This is next gen, and PES10 better look next gen as well.

after spending a few hours yesterday playing all the available teams, i think its a vast improvment on 08. The AI is miles better clever runs etc, it seems to play so much more realistic so on that note chuffed. The only thing i noticed is where has the variable speed of players gone, Even with dash press they dont seem to move any faster. All said im very impressed and glad i placed my pre order with my local blockbuster (collection on the 14th cant wait)

One thing I had trouble with was the low cross (double tap cross button). When countering I often used it on previous PES games so that an upcoming striker would put his foot against it and score... I seemed like the winger needed much more time to hit the cross and that it isn't too fluidly...

Apart from that, nice demo. Played better than Fifa 09 demo which I thought was very slow, somewhat like old people running around on the field...

Will get the full version of PES for sure !!! ME LIKE :D

I won't start a new thread, I will just get my questions done here.

I have only played 1 game, and i have been testing out the stuff that you can/can't do and what does/doesn't happen, but so far I haven't had much chance to play it, so i would like to know if any of you guys have expirienced any of the following:

1) If you tackle a player and it warrents a booking but the referee plays on, will he come back and show the yellow card when the ball finally goes out of play?

2) Do the referees change in appearance? or do we get the same looking ref everytime?

3) If the CPU gets a free kick just outside the box, is it a garanteed goal for them just like it was in 08? or do they actually miss.

The main one i would like to know is number 1). This is the sort of thing that made all the other pros on PS2 realistic! A feww more things that were in the others (which we won't know if they are implemented until the full version) is, Mud and dirt on players shorts etc. When a player got injured, you would see a bandage wrapped around his knee etc. I remember once that occasionally a player would come back on with a bandage around his head! think that was in PES4 or 5 but again, this was great realism.

ok, finished the first couple of matches (PS3) and here are my thoughts:

Gameplaywise it feels very different to PES2008, the feeling I got in the first matches was just like playing WE9 for the first time - yes, this plays like Pro Evo but still it's different and I need to adjust my style of playing.

I usually play with a nearer camera perspective, so I cannot really comment on the the improvements in graphics but I think the game looks good.

Generally I think the AI has become smarter, e.g. they double up on wingers or in one case I was playing against Barca and was 0:1 behind and Henry ran straight to the corner flag and shielded the ball to waste some time in the last few minutes. It's definitely not as easy as in PES2008 to dribble past a horde of defenders and I think harder to score in general.

My only real downpoint is defending corners. I think I've conceded from every single corner I had against me but one where the header hit the bar. I play semi-assited and the pattern is always the same: I can select my CB to defend but as soon as the corner is taken the CPU "assists" me in switching to a defender in a far worse position and the opponent gets a virtually free header. This is really annoying as I don't want to play unassisted as not being able to control the GK is not an option for me.

The crowd chants are a bit repetitive (one time I played as Liverpool and they were singing "when the reds go marching in" and nothing else during the WHOLE game...) but I hope they'll sort that out in the final game resp. it won't be as noticable with commentary on.

Overall, I do have a good impression and will definitely buy the game. I've played both the PES and FIFA demo and while I think FIFA has improved it still doesn't do anything for me.

I absolutely love Ronaldo on this game.

Same here

Was playing my cousin yesterday, I was United he was Madrid. Everytime Ronaldo got the ball, I would say "Cristiano on the ball!" or "UH OH!", knowing that he was getting annoyed at it. So in injury time I got the ball in my own half with Ronaldo, flip flapped one player, ran past another, he tried to just hack me down with the last guy, but I cut in side of him and then buried it in the right hand corner. Great times.

So far, Ronaldo has offered me the best moments in this demo. All will change in the full game when I can take control of Deco though :smug:

Is it just me or do the crowds chant "You suck d*ck" whenever you play with Man United?

They obviously don't chant it, but it does sound like it a lot! I also like when they sing When the Saints come marching in. I can't help but join in

Sure this demo has it's flaws, but on a whole I am enjoying it very much. It just feels like I am playing a football game again, rather than that shit they gave us last year. Looking forward to the release of the full game and playing as my beloved Chelsea.

So alot of reviews have been saying 2009 is based on pes5 so i dusted down pes5 last night and had a few games and straight away you can see the simularities. What i remember about 5 is you needed a bit of guile in possesion to create space and openings and this seems the same. The most satisfying thing about this is im getting that good feeling again when you score a nice goal which was lost in last years game.So give it time and i am sure everybody will be raving about this game in a few months.

P.S what up with the new GBH system for the AI their assualting me lol

I knw what you mean El nino,

when 1st got the demo i was just running with the ball like in Pro evo 8 and that just wernt working. Then i went bk to basic of how i used to play aka arsenal style pass & pass & pass wait for an opening and then boom goals galore.

I feels amazing when all that build up leads to a goal even if u miss knw u worked hardish for that goal unlike pro 8 where id give the ball to Ronaldl, Walcott on ML and then Run run Run.

Im not says Pro Evo 9 is perfect cuz it does have some flaws like the damn ref giving red cards to the CPU for nothing and the sound track but im sure most will see over those cracks.

Get it on PC so I can hunt you down with Shevchenko :> (I'll be sure to leave Senderos on the bench!)

I'll take control of Robbie Savage, and hunt down Ballack until he's taken off in a stretcher :smug:

Carvalho would keep Shevchenko in his back pocket. Just like he did in all those training sessions :shifty:

My PC is rather shit though, so I doubt I'd be able to run the game properly with my yesteryear components.

Barry, I have come to the conclusion it is not exactly your fault that you can not see what a gream man Ballack is. The truth is that the blame lies on the terrible country that is Holland. The Dutch envy that they do not have a leader like Michael Ballack. And they also are jealous that Sneijder and van der Vaart are not made of steel, like Ballack.

To wrap this up - You Dutch make me sick!

i know its a bit late for reviews and such but i have been playing it lots and i can say it is a vast improvment on last years...

People have been complaining about the sound of the ball and i think with comentary this will not be noticable...

I can understand why people will be dissapointed as on the intro it looks like ;ast years game in the sense that it is the same shots of players and it feels like i have seen the scenes a thousand time...

However... all of last years problems have gone... speed is great... AI good... New trick system better IMO... and you CAN score from long renage (two with henry just this morning...

All in all a vast improvement... roll on 17th

No leaders?! I object strenuously. In defense; John "The Vanilla Godzilla" Heitinga, in midfield Mark "Junkyard Dog" van Bommel and up front...well we've only got marshmallows up front apart from Klaas-Jan "The Chosen One" Huntelaar.

If Ballack isn't flopping around the field like a little girl or complaining to the referee he's probably not even on the pitch! His record will indicate he isn't a leader when he needs to be;

Lost the Champions League Finals in 2008 and 2002
Lost the Final of the European Championships in 2008
Lost the Final of the World Cup in 2002
League Runner-up with Leverkusen in 2002
Cup runner-up with Leverkusen in 2002
Carling Cup Runner-up with Chelsea 2008

Case closed; he's a cunt :smug:
