All in all I think it's a pretty fair and somewhat spot-on review - from what I've tried from both of the demos.
He states that PES still has the better physics - but it has become the somewhat more arcady (though he doesn't say that directly) but he clearly states, that PES is the more fun.
I'd have to agree, that FIFA has become the more "realistic" game. You can't turn on a dime, you have to time your heading (jumps) just right to win the heading duel (a fantastic feature if I have to be honest), passing is fluid and just right - and the superb animations makes it look so much more real. The fun thing is: Earlier someone asked what small extra features they would like implimented in the next PES game. A broard group wanted you to be able to hit the cameras behind the goal, being able to collide with the ref among other things. The thing is: all these things are all implimented in FIFA09...
Now I remember back in the days, when all us PES fanboys slanted FIFA because PES (or ISS PRO EVO, back then) was the more realistic game - where you couldn't dribble around the entire defence (try out Messi in PES09 - and you can easily do the "old FIFA" by dribbling from your own penaltyarea to other area and score a goal), where passing was fluid and the game in general look so much more spot on than FIFA. Funny - actually that it seems that the tables has turned?!? It looks like FIFA is now, where ISS PRO EVO was back in the days, when everybody started turning away from FIFA and started playing PES?
Somehow I'd like to hear HitmanUK's oppinion on this - since he was the frontman back then - and frankly the only member I remember from all my years in this forum. By that I mean, that I remember that we very much had the same views on the beautyful game.
My personal oppinion: If FIFA gets the player physics right next year (by that I mean the onscreen players look and feel different from eachother) and individual skill and attributs to really differ from eachother - then I truly believe that PES would be knocked off it's thrown - if that indeed already hasn't happend - and only us fanboys (myself included) hasn't figured that out yet?
What makes me still a bit more interested in PES than FIFA is the fact that Be a Legend sounds much better than Be a Pro...
