PES08 was rated slighty better last year...WTF?

According to the review it's the best PES on next generation consoles...
***THERE IS STILL ONLINE LAG***

Your comments please!

not surprised in the slightest thats why i bought fifa last week... really disappointed in Konami but its like havin a retarded child after a while you don't expect improvement on a big scale just tiny little baby steps. Maybe by 2012 it might be a proper game with little insignificant things like proper squads, stadiums to match the teams, proper player names and likenesses but that is a big maybe and I for one won't be holding out any hope

Wow ive actually just read the review and its a complete joke of a review, didnt these fools at IGN rate pro evo 08 much higher yet they state this is the best pro to date yet give it an 8.5 WTF.

The fuker even goes on to say that the FIFA grapics are better than Pros err has he seen the player likness in pro09.[/QUOTE]

:shocking:That's so not true. He should have seen the player faces and body. The graphics of both games are good. Fifa has the stadiums while pes has the players.

I think he's talking about the animations as better graphics in general. And in that he's right!
And to the guy slating the reviewer about PES copying FIFA with Be a Legend - he states right afterwards that PES actually had that feature before FIFA - but FIFA beefed it up - instead of only the "fix" player selection.

I'm not defending FIFA here - I'm just asking people to actually READ the review if they want to comment.

Didn't mean to sound harsh - so please don't take it offensive! ;o)

Fifa is better where the licences are concerned, thats a given really.

Yes, but does that make it a better game?

Yeah that was me, and I was sure than he couldn't possibly have meant that, he's just worded it in riddles...

"Far more appealing is Become a Legend, which for the cynical of mind might seem like a brazen rehash of FIFA's own singular take on football. PES stalwarts, however, will recognise it as the return of fix mode from previous games that's cheekily borrowed some of EA's garnish."

I mean ENGLISH would be nice... He's tried to hard too write creatively and has confused people like me.

One thing I picked up on from that is the way he said FIFA has the realistic
gameplay but PES is fun. I think that's what it comes down to in the end. I mean for all FIFA looks at times like an actual match it plays in a slow and frustrating manner, you can't build up the same slick passing moves as you can in PES. Wouldn't you rather have more fun with a slightly more unrealistic representation?

As wrong as your comment is, I couldn't help but laugh

There's no better general grtaphics in Fifa. The players are a huge [art of the graphics and Pes is miles ahead. I state that they're draw in graphics.

All in all I think it's a pretty fair and somewhat spot-on review - from what I've tried from both of the demos.

He states that PES still has the better physics - but it has become the somewhat more arcady (though he doesn't say that directly) but he clearly states, that PES is the more fun.

I'd have to agree, that FIFA has become the more "realistic" game. You can't turn on a dime, you have to time your heading (jumps) just right to win the heading duel (a fantastic feature if I have to be honest), passing is fluid and just right - and the superb animations makes it look so much more real. The fun thing is: Earlier someone asked what small extra features they would like implimented in the next PES game. A broard group wanted you to be able to hit the cameras behind the goal, being able to collide with the ref among other things. The thing is: all these things are all implimented in FIFA09...

Now I remember back in the days, when all us PES fanboys slanted FIFA because PES (or ISS PRO EVO, back then) was the more realistic game - where you couldn't dribble around the entire defence (try out Messi in PES09 - and you can easily do the "old FIFA" by dribbling from your own penaltyarea to other area and score a goal), where passing was fluid and the game in general look so much more spot on than FIFA. Funny - actually that it seems that the tables has turned?!? It looks like FIFA is now, where ISS PRO EVO was back in the days, when everybody started turning away from FIFA and started playing PES?

Somehow I'd like to hear HitmanUK's oppinion on this - since he was the frontman back then - and frankly the only member I remember from all my years in this forum. By that I mean, that I remember that we very much had the same views on the beautyful game.

My personal oppinion: If FIFA gets the player physics right next year (by that I mean the onscreen players look and feel different from eachother) and individual skill and attributs to really differ from eachother - then I truly believe that PES would be knocked off it's thrown - if that indeed already hasn't happend - and only us fanboys (myself included) hasn't figured that out yet?

What makes me still a bit more interested in PES than FIFA is the fact that Be a Legend sounds much better than Be a Pro...

In reality players that are good in dribbling can take on 3 defenders. I thappens in every match. That's realism not arcade. Pes 08's defense was too bad, because the defense stat, didn't matter. This year it's back to pes 5 style. Simulation. You know, you can still dribble around in Henry in pes 5 and you can still take on 3 defenders, only if you're good at dribbling an if the player has the dribbling stat.

I'm sorry to say: But the animations in PES are awful compared to the likes in FIFA. That doesn't make FIFA a better game though. But it does make it a hell more fun and good to look at.
Player faces are much better in PES - no doubt about that! But since I have my camera set to "wide" I can't see that anyhow... Therefore I'd prefer the better animations - afterall: this is the Xbox 360 and PS3 - we should expect better than this!

Well - since Messi is godlike in the demo - you can actually take on the entire opposing team... And I'm really not that good in this game, as many of you other guys in here are.

The game isn't out yet so the servers can't be up to scratch. I'd wait until it's available to the whole public then make a decision.

If they're lagging with only a few people online think how it will cope with thousands! :chanlaugh:
