If Konami was to include some "unlockable" Classic Players with their Real Faces and Names; who would you like to see? Name your Top 10. I'm excluding Pele and Maradona because I'm assuming that it would be a hard task.

1 - Romario
2 - Roberto Baggio
3 - Zinedine Zidane
4 - Johan Cruyff
5 - Bobby Moore
6 - Carlos Valderrama
7 - George Best
8 - Matt Le Tissier
9 - Franz Beckenbauer
10 - Marco Van Basten

I think it's highly unlikely they will have licensed legends - look at FIFA, they had a few legend teams, but hardly the best ever XI?

I think the only chance is from players who have recently retired - and have thus been on a previous PES. However, hypothetically, my top 10 would be:
10. Jurgen Klinsmann - forget the fact he was one of the best strikers in the world in his prime... he should be in for the diving!
9. Jesper Olsen - just so you could get Cruyff <see below> to re-create the best penalty ever.
8. Rene Higuita - SCORPION KICK!
7. Carlos Valderrama - mainly just to see the 'fro. With Fellaini and Rafael doing the amazing hair-do justice, it might be an option on edit more for next year anyway.
6. Bruce Grobelaar - would like to see the spaghetti legs, as well as a whole lot of other new ways for keeper to be eccentric
5. Garrincha - would be brilliant to have his unique dribbling style
4. Johan Cruyff - would need to extend Technique beyond 99
3. Alfredo Di Stefano - never ever been a more complete football, not even Cruyff. Only thing is, I looked at his stats from PES5, and recreated him on 2009, he is scarily good. Which is only fair.
2. Des Walker - not only is he my all time favourite Wednesday player, but if you create him from scratch, his 'tache looks awful
1. Alan Hansen - only effective if they make the gameplay more accomodating for ball playing CBs. As it stands, the best CBs just pass it to the full backs, and win headers

Won't Rivaldo still be in Greece for next season? He is (and fully licensed) on PES2009.

I can imagine that players like: Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Eusebio, Di Stefano... could be hard to acquire.

But looking at it more closely, I remember some Adidas ad prior to the 2006 World Cup... it featured past and modern players like: Zidane and Platini and Riquelme and Beckembauer, Beckham and I think Zico was also there.

Why is it so hard to imagine such players in a Football Simulation?? It's pretty much the same thing.

I think players like Carlos Valderrama and Romario and Matt Le Tissier would be easy to get.

And also, Zinedine Zidane and Dennis Bergkamp featured in the game not so long ago; in PES5.

So considering this I really think it would be fairly-easy to feature some Classic Players... I think it's more a matter of Konami not even bothering to feature some Licensed Classic Players.

And let's be honest; nobody cares about the Current Classic Players... they look all cheap with the random faces and names, it gives the game a cheap feel.

Personally, I'd rather have a fully licensed Romario -instead- of players like Gilardino.

And again, how hard/expensive could it be??

After all, it's just a couple of Faces and Names. It should be much cheaper than Team Licenses. And everyone would like it, there's not a Football Fan in the world who wouldn't like to see some Football Legends on High Def.

I think EA Sports has already started doing this with FIFA and also with their NBA games. They don't have Pele or Maradona, but they do have some Classic Players with real names and faces: Franco Baresi and Beckenbauer amongst others.

Konami could do the same with Other Legends:

Romario
Carlos Valderrama
Roberto Baggio
Matt Le Tissier
Fernando Hierro
Zinedine Zidane
Gabriel Batistuta
Roy Keane
Dennis Bergkamp
Paolo Maldini
Jaap Staam
Lothar Mathaus

It would still be a welcomed addition.

I know EA had some legend boxer faces and names in their Fight Night games. Should be doable for Konami to get some footballer licenses aswell. It's a matter of prioritizing.

In my opinion; it's got more to do with Lazyness...

I don't think it's a matter of prioritizing because How hard can it be?? How hard is it to include an additional 10 or 20 Faces and Names?

Unique Animations would be a tougher task... but adding Faces isn't hard at all.

I think it would be very easy to implement and would make a fine addition. Plus Pro Evolution Soccer really lacks this sort of thing, there's nothing worth "Unlocking". Fully Licensed Classic Players would make a fine "incentive" for playing the game.

If I could unlock a fully licensed Romario... that would keep me playing the ML that bit longer. At the moment PES really lacks this sort of incentive.

But besides that...

The Top Priority should be The Gameplay: Animations, Movements, Stats...

I'm just saying that Adding a couple of Fully Licensed Classic Players would be a welcomed addition, and can be done with minimum effort. I don't think this would interfere with Gameplay Development. So why not??

Every Football Fan haves that One player that he'd like to use in a Football Simulation.

In South America: Pele, Maradona, Garrincha, Romario, Valderrama, Zico... would be a huge hit.

In Europe: Zinedine Zidane, Johan Cruyff, George Best, Roberto Baggio, Michel Platini, Ruud Gullit, Van Basten, Fernando Hierro, etc, etc... would also be highly appreciated by many fans of the series.

So why not?

Would you rather have Gudjohnsen -over- the likes of Romario and Zidane???

LICENSED TEAMS?? Who cares about that, we have Option Files for that... and we can always edit any Team in the Edit Mode.

I can Edit Teams very well in the edit mode... However, I cannot edit Faces in the Edit Mode. So would you rather have more of something you can already do on your own -or- would you rather have something NEW?

The German League would be a good addition.

Bottom Line: FACT REMAINS that a few Faces and Names would NOT interfere with anything... it would be extremely easy to implement.

I'm astounded that noone has mentioned Jimmy "Jinky" Johnstone or any of the other players from the Celtic '67 side, arguabley one of the greatest, most attacking footballing sides ever. Or for another Scottish legend or two, John Greig or Jim Baxter?
