^Manual shooting doesn't work for me. No matter what direction I give it, it always goes out. ALWAYS. :(

I actually like the FIFA 10 demo! the new 360 control system makes the movement feel smooth, and I like how the players move and react to the ball, but in terms of longevity and graphics its not on a par of PES! so I will wait to see how PES 2010 plays and feels before making judgement on either! Just think the players on FIFA resemble cave men

^Yes I like the fifa 10 demo for sure. It's better than 09 for sure and I believe it'll last longer than 09 because it's better than it aswell.
But still it has it's own problems.

Thats just you.

I play with manual shooting and can score.

Long range, yeah, its super hard.

Fully Assisted is a joke, seriously, not for serious players, its gotta be semi manual at least.

True! I've gotta back you up on that statement!
Playing FIFA on assisted ruins the game totally and doesn't do it justice...

Yeah, i wont bother with the manual passing, because then you lose even more player individuality (it requires alot of skill though), so i like my passing on semi manual, which is fine, but there is no excuses for fully assisted shooting, thats a disgrace.

i have been playing pes as long as anyone but fifa is the better sim. Looking at the games so far pes certainly seems to have improved but i am much more excited about fifa. EA really seem to concentrate on the gameplay and manager mode looks like a big improvement. Its one or the other for me and that this moment in time pes still looks some distance behind fifa although this could be the best pes game since pes five.

what does fully assisted shooting do exactly?, does it choose the place u shoot at (right, left, up, down)?

Pretty much yeah, its the equivalent of a heat seeking missile that homes in on goal, no matter where you hit it.

One of the biggest problems with pes fans who try to play fifa, is they dont know how to calibrate the control system and as a result, they get fuck all out of the game. They are also very ignorant and dont give the game a chance, thus you see alot of people who claim the shooting is very easy etc etc, because they dont take it off assisted and they think they are great players......no.

1st of all, crossing over takes time. I would reccomend changing the button config so it mimics the config you use on pes, i cant play with fifa controls, i altered them to make them nearly the same as pes, and i was able to play the barca style football quickly.

secondly, go into controller setup and playing with the manual non manual settings, for a pes player you need

passing: Semi (manual)
Shooting: Semi
Through balls: assisted
Lofted through balls: Manual
Crossing: up to you.

Mimic the button config and the above settings and you have a pes type config which should allow you to get to grips with the game better.

it may be arrogant of me but i cant understand people who play dont play on manual control but i agree with your comments about people who seem to ignore big aspects of fifa's gameplay. Years ago learning to play a new pes game would take the time because the game was so deep, this is now the case with fifa and people ignore this.

I know what you mean, listen, manual takes more skills, no question about that, I personally i will stick with semi for the time being, just to keep a little player individuality in the passing.

But I know what your saying, you cant just jump from one to the other, you need to take time and find out what suits you first. And the gameplay is deep and does take time to master.

Maybe it is just me. But this was a problem with fifa 09 aswell. And all the friends I have that play with me, no one plays on manual because they have the same problem as mine so no one can give me tips on it.:(
I am sure to press the right button and direction and it still goes out everytime.

its hard to give you tips on it because i am sure you have heard this before but it just takes practice. have you tried using the place shot and once you get used to directing that you may find manual easier. If you do learn how to use it it makes a massive difference. I have known people who dont really play football games but after convincing them to use manual they have practiced it and mastered it to some degree. Try adding less power on your shots, even if you don't score many goals at first once you start getting used to directing your effort and judging the power will become easier. Body stance is also crucial and you also need to use the momentum of the player for more powerful shots. I think fifa 10 will be a harder game to master overall but i have a feeling shooting will be tad easier.

^Thanks. I'll try it when I play it next time. :)
And to answer your question. Yes I use placed shot alot ;) I played on semi so far. Now I'll try manual shooting.
1 question. Will the shooting get better with manual than when using auto once you master it?
Thanks.

this may sound strange but i have only ever used manual from the start, but sing semi may help you get used to it

i didnt even know FIFA had different shooting methods? TBH its a little unfair if you use manual and come up against some one online using fully assisted, which from your guys convo i presume is much easier.

The commentaries always better on FIFA but it still sucks, if i hear him say in a rather emotional and sentimental voice "i hope i get to say goal here a few more times" (about wembley) im gonna cry. Thank god for my music on my HDD. one other thing annoys me, they call Lucho Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez instead, that is his real name but i have never heard any body call him that, its like calling Robinho Robson. I mean it even says Lucho on his shirt in game!

the more i play the fifa 10 demo, the more realistic it becomes. Playing pes09 after feels like an arcade game of pinball. I never thought this day would come, but I think I'm going to buy fifa 10 over pes2010 for the first time in about 10 years. Obviously I will wait for the pes2010 demo, but I want a football simulation game and fifa is the closest possible to that.
