pes 2012 plays better than pes 2011 because you didn't ge that feeling where you pass orthorugh ball it and you couldn't lay the passes out. pes 2012 oyu can pass better but the only advantage pes 2011's passing had over pes 2012 is the power bar and that is it. pes 2011 when ever you cut in from the wings, it was like turning a double decker bus and the dribbling was ridiculous- you only could dribble with speed merchants and in 2012 tactical dribblers like van der vaart and xavi can do turns and dodges. pes 2011 only had a better power bar than 2012 and that is it.
Also pes 2011's graphics were a huge joke - it looked so fake and cartoony. if you looked at the player faces in pes 2011 (and I'm serious), the looked like 2d magazines cut outs stuck on a players face. in pes 2012 the graphics look realistic and player faces blend and look 3d and sure they look robotic because they are all emotionless but pes is getting there with animations that hopefully by 2013 players can respond better, their eys can move or some players can scrath their head and everything will just flow so smoothly

Can everyone look at this someone who gives two sides to an argument. I fully agre with power bar being an issue. I think/hope they'll fix this in the next dlc

Agreed. Like any game, you can find flaws in pes 12 if you look hard enough, but all in all I think they have taken a few steps forward.

Damn right........they may have taken 1 step back in terms of a couple of aspects, but they've taken 3 bloody leaps and bounds forward in terms of everything else

And a lot can be fixed with a dlc konami

i think in pes2012 you dont have to be a skillful player to score, its so fast its more luck with hit an run goals, however in pes2011 you needed alot of skill and were rewarded for outwitting the opponent with crisp 1 twos to slice thru the defence and score with skill....

okay I understand the title of the thread and I came to the thread for adult opinions on what people felt was wrong with the game. Thats not what I got - I understand this is my fault for always having assumed I would get a balanced point of view on this site, as I have for years. I think I already explained that I know what a forum is please see my earlier post, and unlike a lot of people here I have offered my opinion, not attacked anyone for not agreeing and even tried to give people tips on how to make the game more enjoyable.

the analogy is sound mate - at the end of the day just cause you can do something doesn't mean you should. It's not right to offer one sided comments to people who have not had a chance to form their own opinions and affect their judgement. A forum is designed to give people the information they require to form educated opinions on whatever the subject may be.

If you know what a turn based game is, can you explain to me in what way Pro is turn based? (that is an honest question, not an attack)

I explained it earlier in this thread(#114). Go back and read it if you want.

As for the game. Nothing has changed IMO. The same flaws that have plagued the game for years are still here. Passing, Defending, etc. are all automated. Your best bet is to let konami play 80% of the game for you. Scripted animations pull your defenders out of position when (sometimes after!) the ball has been played. Don't tell me nonsense about putting everything on manual because it is.

Forcefields around passes. Chipped through balls send defenders running around like chickens with their heads off. Regular through balls turn defenders invisible. You can still play ping pong faster than konami will let you adjust defenders.

Crossing. How utterly ridiculous. Sprint as fast as you can to the corner flag, then try to serve a ball in. The player will whip a ball in directly to his striker facing the OPPOSITE direction. In fact, answer this: Have you EVER seen an awful cross in this game? One that gets shanked out? I haven't. In fact, I've seen crosses whipped in from every possible angle and animation. Usually accompanied by the attacker on a bee line to the cross while the (multiple) defenders pick that exact time to stare at the crowd.

Random cursor changing. Do you know how many times I've tried to stop a counter by changing players only for konami to make it IMPOSSIBLE until the player has played it through? Too many...

They fucked up the only thing they consistently got right. Shooting. Goalkeepers can save 99/100 1 on 1's but can't save one dribble attempt. Konami tricks noobs by automating shots and the muppets don't notice.

There was a time when timing, position, and knowledge played huge part in this series. No more. Now it's button mashing and letting konami's corny ass gimmicks decide who does what.

The fact I'm saying this while WINNING much more than I lose should lend some credibility to the argument. But of course it won't.

The bottom line is there are some of us that really know the intricacies of football (and football gaming) are very upset with this game. PES 12 seems to be only getting more arcadey IMO.

I understand there are others who just want to do what they've seen on Messi/CR highlight films. To you I say, congrats, you have found your game.

To those of us that know better, I say: Do not buy PES 2012.

P.S. Your analogy is anything but sound mate. Comparing whining on a forum to jumping off of a bridge is hilarious and dramatic and illogical. Not to mention simple. Do I really need to tell you why this is ridiculous? Do you really think that is a reasonable analogy? I hope not...

Just played a few games online then .I only won once but i was shaking my head every time i scored .The feeling of scoring a goal now is just lame, it's one thing i always loved about pes but this year it feels even more soulless than fifa games of old , mainly because of the horrible shooting technique and the physics of the ball after you shoot.
Can anyone here actually defend against Barca online using smaller teams?
I'm just finding impossible at times to contain them while they are just sprinting at you.You close down space but you always feel exposed and end up running round like headless chickens. You close down space on the wing and you are exposed in the middle and vise versa.
Nearly every goal online is down to people just using the run button.I tried using a top team then playing as France but it's just so ridiculous how good and your players are.WORST PES ONLINE EVER.

I beat barca 2-0 online last night...though i was using utd. He kept running at me with messi but i just kept taking the ball from him using 2 defenders

Feel sorry for you online players, I'm loving the game offline its a shame online seems to bring the worst out the game. if you could play at -2 I might consider playing online more often but from what others have said think I'll stick to using live just for dlc etc.

actually I have to use Park and Nani. ;) I could not compete with Barca without another big club for the reason Makavelian mentions. A lot of that is my poor generation of offense but as long as I don't let Barca cross I have a chance.

I play offline games and give no penalties away but as soon as I go online against Barca I give away Penalty kicks because you are forced to play tough.

I feel like my defenders are covering players better than ever. Although I am using Vidic and Jones (sometimes Johnny)

-2 is just way to slow for me.It just highlights the flaws in the game.

I'm a believer at the -2 speed on superstar. No assists except hard tackle and no pass bars. 15 minute games I love it just feels right. But I also play online and I understand what others are saying.

I've been using full manual online in ranking matches and i think my record is about won 1 lost 6 :joel:.It really is rewarding trying to pay beautiful football with full manual your opponents are all over the place at times when they are defending because your passing isn't as predetermined. But you hardly stand a chance when your facing a superior team with full pass assist who can just aimlessly continue to just pass it about with radar accuracy, and i can play on superstar difficulty offline with no pass assist and win more than i lose.At least last year it took a bit more talent at the game to pass about than this year.Having played pes 2011 yesterday i would say the passing feels like it's set to two for pass assist comparing it to this years game.

Thats how I play, requires huge concentration although I turn all assists off , it does seem that setting tackling to hard can be quite useful. 15 minute matches are great, if you go a goal down you dont have to rush and the game has a more realistic flow to it.

I have also done some editing to tactics, so many teams use quick counter so I have adjusted it to make some AI teams play more possession football. Gives the game more variation when playing offline as I think the AI can be on the aggressive side at times. I now have a nice mixture of teams playing possession, quick counter etc and it helps the game.

For the passing I use 0 bars but for 90% of passes I use manual modifier which is perfect, best manual pass option ever in a football game. I'm finding long balls to be a bit too assisted I think they were fine as they were in 2011.

HERE FUKING HERE!!!! well said, i agree totally with most of your comments, if not all.... i am finding myself doing it the easy way by dribbleing round in circles till theres a gap in defence then dribbling round the keeper, gettin really bored of this now but its the only way to compete, the skill factor is gone in this years game!!!! just a shame cos pes 2011 only needed a few tweaks.

This ^^^Absolutely no talent required to pass the ball about like Barcelona....Once you get to the endline, konami makes the cross. And now you don't even control the shot!!

You said it in one of your earlier posts: "PES-hold-your-hand-all-the-way-2012" or something to that effect.

The passing assist ruins online gaming. People are hoarding up the best players, then ping pong passing their way to goal. Press X and the ball goes directly to a teammate while your defence is set to "watch." So incredibly frustrating.
