But not becuase of intelligent defenders, because of reatarded teammates. If it made it hard to play beautiful football because of great defensive AI then that would be fine, ALA Fifa.

Don't know about "ALA FIFA".. But I agree with you.

Had they done it Realistically difficult -- the game would be fine. But instead, they made your team mates a retarded bunch, you can barely do anything about it. The COM basically dictates everything for us, leaving ys with very little to do other than passing or shooting the ball.

If the COM wants to score a goal it starts messing around with your Defenders, this is why defenders suddenly become completely retarded.. instead of marking the space or passing lanes, 3 of them go with only one player. And this makes for easy goals as you can cut-back and then pass the ball to your "free" team mate.

It's quite predictable and obvious. Which really makes me wonder why Konami says things like "the best AI to date in any PES game".

Fortunately, the sales dropped for Konami, let's see if they remember about implementing realistic things this time.

Looking at a few videos, and having played the game a few times.. I think FIFA09 is a bit "watered down" if you know what I mean. Football has never and never will be that slow.

You watch players like Romario and Johan Cruijff, see how fast they can run the Final third of the pitch. They Accelerate a lot faster than either on FIFA09 or PES09.

That said, I think it's all but official that FIFA09 is the better game. The sales show that, the fact that a significant number of PES Fans prefer it shows that. So it's pretty much a fact by now.

But like I said, it still feels watered down, the game needs more feeling and intensity in that final third.

Previoulsy I would have agreed with this but I was playing with arsenal the other day and had a cracking game. I posted this on pesfan.

I was messing around with Manager Mode with Arsenal last night

Anyway, had two cracking games. The first one was the 2nd game of the season vs. Chelsea at home. They went up 1-0, i tied it 1-1. they brough on Drogba as sub around the 65th minute and a few minutes later I had a bad clearance and he scored to make it 2-1. Late in the game i work the ball to Cesc and he lets one go from the top of the 18 that flys into the top corner. I was going crazy finished 2-2.

Nice dude,

Here are a few of my manual goals:

http://www.eafootballworld.com/en_GB/video/3837286

http://www.eafootballworld.com/en_GB/video/3444603

Scored my best one yet last night, a pull back cross to Arshavin who chested it down and issued a dipping volley into the to pcorner from 30 yards. It crashed halfway through uploading though. :( And it was in the 88th minute to put me 1-0 up. :( I seem to hit the bar with loads of long range efforts too, but my shooting is defo improving.

yeah but even the speed of the shots look like they are a lob. the movements of the players look reasonable but the ball leaves the foot of the player and it seems floating until it reaches the goal. takes away the goal excitement.

The ball speed is more realistic than Pro Evo where it moves far too quick.

I've heard plenty of examples like this, and it sounds like you guys are having a good time.

But I'm just saying that Dribbling and Accelerating are still too watered down in both FIFA09 and PES09.

In PES09 it doesn't even feels like dribbling, it feels more like running. As in real life, if you go against a player at full speed you are easier to defend against. You cannot do much if your going at full speed. The idea is to slow down, dribble, work your angle, and then sprint out.

In FIFA09 I think it is a bit too tactical, too slow, not enough acceleration after it.

I think the Pace seems to be pretty accurate in both games, but the Acceleration is still lacking plenty of depth IMO.

If you watch some videos of Romario, Johan Cruijff, Leo Messi, George Best, Pele.. You'll see what I mean. Players with good acceleration are a lot faster in that final third. Which is why timing is so important when finishing.

Judging by PES09, I still feel too much Time and Space when Finishing, But not enough Control nor Acceleration.

Plus, PES is still lacking plenty of "Finishing Animations" or "Penalty Area Animations". Some controls should have different functions when Inside the Penalty Area.

Having the same Animations and Controls in every Position, and for every player, seems very out of date IMO.

Nice Goals. The 2nd one if my favorite. The Keeper could have doen better on the 3rd one.

ahh, you mean the deadly first step..??

if your coming off pes onto fifa then the first mistake is to use the sprint button in the same way...

Very true that, i still often take one too many touches at full sprint, very frustrating. Still learning how to use L2 really effectively to dribble. I know you can do the sharp zig zags like Pro Evo somehow, but i haven't worked out exactly how to do it, it just happens now and again. I think it requires you to quickly tap L2 at the same time you want to change direction, but it doesn't work consistently. I also can't fully get down the stepover and quick direction change. For the time being i'll have to make do with doing rollovers.:(

it was great when playing pes, the contols and timing were ingrained into my head and hands, but now it really frustrates me when i revert back and forget i'm playing fifa..!! things like having to move towards the ball and shit and ofcourse sprinting..!!

I dont think the pace of the game is slow i just think the ball doesnt whip through the air like it should. Long rangers dont feel that powerfull.
