jonney, I answered you in the other thread. No need to ask the same question repeatedly and try not to repeat post. Edit your original post if you have to add something.

The jb 8.1.04 has a link in the thread for the 5.1.04 patch.
It's an update patch which you apply right after the 5.1.04.

Burnt a new disc with the new patch but still can't get my slide tool/swap magic disc to work, once I swap the discs over and press cross I just hear the disc grinding trying to load then it stops and get the red/blue striped background. Any suggestions?

Slide arm underneath the tray come loose

I was trying to remove a tray cover this evening, so I could use a slide card to play WE7i, which just arrived.

I used a very tiny screwdriver, like the width of a razor blade to get the screw out from underneath the tray, I did that okay. The moulded clips on either side can be eased off, again from underneath, and levering them slightly from the 'in' side of the tray. I managed that. Then it says replace the screw, fine.

But I noticed a metal rod was there, under the tray, pointing out as far as the screw at the corner of the tray - I think it rides in and out along it.

This has come loose on my console and the tray won't slide in or out properly!

Has anyone encountered this slide arm, is it a known hazard when removing the cover of the tray?

Anyone know how to fit it back in place properly? (Preferably without opening the console, but I'll do that if necessary)

The rod is there for the tray to glide along. The black screw you took out must be put back (it says repleaced but just put it back) securing the rod in the gap where you found it. Any problems, do what my sig says! ;)

Just the man!

"securing the rod in the gap where you found it."

It doesn't seem comfortable there - It sinks about an inch down a hole, so the other end is right over the screw, how far out should it stick out?

It came out completely and I don't want to force it back, but I can't see where or how it's 'secured' to anything, other then sliding it back down the hole underneath.

Swipe Card Info
The only modification is the front tray cover has to be taken off. On the bottom of the tray (when ejected) remove the little screw and with a quick tug (holding the faceplate on both sides) the cover will pop off. If the little clip(s) break it is okay you can alway glue it back on if needed. I cannot attach the movie files but have the links for them here (right click and save as to download to your PC)

Is the screw supposed to clamp the rod down, holding it in place, so that the tray goes back in when the rod is tugged in buy a motor inside?

So I shouldn't have put the screw back in underneath the rod, leaving it loose?

It's dawing on me very slowly, I know

edired to add: ...but it works now! The rod should be held in place by the screw.

Thank you, Slide King! :)

Now I've got to learn how to eject using the slide card, and get the game back in again.

It all came together in the end, so I did get to play WE7i last night after a few fumbled attempts to do the 'slides' (one to get the swap disk back out, one to get WE7i in).

So now I've overslept!

Think I'll take the day off and play some more. ;)

Day off? You at school or are you in employment? Nice to know you did it anyway! Thanx to moir, slide king.

Employment. My Brent-a-like manager will be grateful I took at least one of the days I have due.

He made that team tick from the heart of midfield with his passing and sheer 'mentality', their unsung hero (a much coveted role). I don't understand why they mangled it after ProEvo.

My old PS2 gave his last breath a few months ago when I was playing a patched WE7 with the slide card trick and Action Replay 2.

I immediatly bought myself a new PS2 (SCPH-50004 SS) and tried the Action Replay 2 again but it wouldn't boot. From then on I played the original PES3...

But now that WE7 International is out I'm willing to give the import and patching stuff another go...

What should I do now? Chip my PS2 or use Swap magic or something? As my PS2 is the latest model I'm not sure if Swap magic will boot on my PS2. And then there's the problem that it won't play WE7I as it's 743MB...

Give my some advice guys...

I think that getting a chip is the best solution.
No hassles with disk swapping or worries over image sizes.

WE7:IJ is well worth a try. Most people prefer it.

i use a slide card it works great on my silver ps2 (v9) hasnt voided my warranty but got to agree with zyg, get a chip once your warranty runs out, it is a pain and the *rse having to use the boot up disc everytime and perform the slide method.

A chip it will be then... ;)

Btw the shop I'm taking it to said that it would take two weeks before I have my PS2 back... Seems like a long time to place a chip, guess they want to play on it themselves. :D
