You think Konami are bad in PR with PES try Metal Gear Solid games, Konami used to send a demo of the game to reviewers via body guards and a time limit, then they would take the demo back.

Konami have their own way of doing things and that's the way its we as TRUE PES FANS deal with it and dont run to Asda's to buy a cheap football wanabe game just because we cant wait a few weeks for the real deal.

I agree PES for the last few years has not been developing in the right way but hey, the KING IS BACK WE 2010 demo is lovely and the final build will be even better.

I cant wait.

Stringer, I didn't realise it was in the wrong section, fair enough mate :)

KUSHTY: Because I replied to this thread does that mean I am interested in it?
[Second reply] Yes it does mean you are! Haha, you're not interested in the thread and yet you keep checking it and replying to it. Hilarious mate, I think you're the stupid one here. If you're not interested in it then presumably you won't be reading this post and you certainly won't be replying to it. No, of course you are and of course you will. Comedy.

I agree. Thing is my mates are in Leeds, Notts and London and a forum I'm on is gonna set up an online league. If they all play the same game I'll be happy too but I doubt they will and that's annoying. To be honest, I'm gonna get PES as well because a lot of fans on here are saying its gonna be good and I can't resist the thought that it could be back to the good old days. I can't afford it and really shouldn't be buying it now I've got FIFA but I can't resist. I'm still annoyed with the way Konami have handled things though :erm:

I hope they bring the date forward, its hard but we will make it.

Would be nice but atleast on the 15th this month the year long super embargo will be lifted and vids of the final game wil review everything from the cup holders to the ML.

great comeback KUSHTY

Of course I'll reply bc you are quoting me lol. Your thread is still worthless. We have had threads like this for the past few months.

If there was any official news or any such things you would have got maybe 45 views. There is nothing going on now so any thread will pretty much gain momentum.

You are coming on a PES site saying you like FIFA better.... it doesnt take a genious to figure out that you will get a response.

One question though: Why are on you here now? There are FIFA forums all over the web....go share your experiences with them about how GREAT FIFA10 is. Why waste your time on a game like PES when you can talk about FIFA lol?

Hypocrites these days...You know damn right you are not completely convinced by FIFA so you come on here because you are angry that KONAMI didnt satisfy you either....

Tough luck bud..

[3rd reply]. If you had no interest in the thread then you wouldn't have even known you were quoted. Of course, you will be reading this as well. You've missed the point of my post.
We have had threads like this for the past few month.
The key point of my thread is that the FIFA price drop was the final straw for many in combination with Konami's later release date and press embargo. This will have made a lot of people who were sitting on the fence buy FIFA and not get PES. That is the key point of my thread and I doubt you've had threads saying that over the last few months since the price drop was only advertised last week.
You are coming on a PES site saying you like FIFA better.... it doesnt take a genious to figure out that you will get a response.
Er, no. I haven't said that FIFA is great, flawless or better than PES (FIFA has flaws, and I post about them on FIFA forums). Read my posts, I have said that my hand and many others has been forced. I will be buying PES because so many people on this thread say it will be worth it. However, a lot of people I play with (mates, forum etc.) have already got FIFA for the reasons above (rather than it being better) and will only buy one football game. Say what you like about those that are only getting FIFA regardless of how PES turns out but it has an influence on me because if people I play with play both games that is inconvenient. I would rather one is king and everyone played it. I wish Konami had released PES on the same date and not had a press embargo, for my benefit and theirs. Any price war that took place on FIFA could have taken place on PES as well, reviews could have been written by critics and fans alike and full games tested and well-informed decisions made. That way, whichever was better would dominate, and justifiably so. Now I fear that even if my beloved PES is better, as I hope it is, they will have lost a significant market share, to my detriment and Konami's.
One question though: Why are on you here now? There are FIFA forums all over the web....go share your experiences with them about how GREAT FIFA10 is. Why waste your time on a game like PES when you can talk about FIFA lol?
I am a member of FIFA and PES forums. I share my opinions on FIFA gameplay on FIFA forums. I am sharing my opinions on Konami's marketing choices here. It's perfectly logical. I have sent emails to pesgaming in the past (e.g. for the PES letter that was ignored), paid hundreds of pounds for PES games and played hundreds of hours, so my membership and posting on here is completely justified.

thing is the PES demo is quite poor... but what % of the final game does it represent?

say its 80% and theres some polishing to go on.. well the old saying goes, ' you cant polish a turd'...

are the fundamentals just not right with the game? will the finished version just be WE10 demo with a few minor tweaks? i can think of a good number of areas that need serious work including;

Goalkeepers - so frustrating
through balls - they dont work properly
animations - not as slick as they should be
defenders - seem to be positionally inept
brazil - their defenders seem faster than italys team combined
lobs - went down hill in 08/09 imo. worked better on ps2

Later Release, Fifa Price Drop and Embargo. I'm sorry but why would this not make people buy the game????!!! haha!

1. Later Release - I like the fact that it is released later, if its not finished dont release it! And we all get a better game and more value for money!

2. Fifa Price Drop - how much is it £24??? Well i think most people on here have pre ordered pes for less than £30 mine was £28 with free delivery so im willing to pay and extra £4 for what i consider a superior game.

3. Press Embargo - This one is the most ridiculous... Just wait! Most reviews dont appear for most games until one or two days before release so who gives a crap about this.

Agree pointless thread...

I've explained why, please read above. If those reasons don't apply to you then fair enough, but many people who have bought FIFA have cited those reasons. Of course an earlier release date and nearly half-price drop will make more people buy FIFA. I'm surprised you can't see the macro influence of release dates, information and significant price drops. I'm not saying it is the most rational way for people to decide but it will have a massive influence. For example, you must agree that more copies of FIFA have been sold at 24.99 than would have been at 39.99 (60% increase). You are prepared to wait and more power to you for it mate.

Yea I have decided to buy PES regardless now when before I was so annoyed with Konami I wasn't going to. I should have listened to feedback earlier but I couldn't get over the demo. I didn't realise it was an earlier build. This thread has definately been beneficial cuz I'm gonna get PES now! I still feel the same as I did in my original post towards Konami's sloppy marketing though. Not everyone is as rational and loyal as wallpaper above, and Konami could have benefited if they had realised that.

I will admit that there were problems with the demo but on the whole a vast improvement on the 09 version. the goalies for me pull some excellent saves off and although they make mistakes - does this not happen in real life.

As I said earlier you cannot judge a full released game against a demo?! For me the FIFA demo wasnt very good either. Its too easy, the players all run into the goal when you score! Then you get a cut scene instead of flowing with the game. The passing isnt very accurate, you cannot beat anyone without having to perform a trick, unless you keep holding the run button down!

So if I wanted to be really honest, neither have impressed me so far! Now, I havent yet played the full FIFA game, I might be tempted to part way with 24.99 of my cash but first I will wait for PES to arrive

hm yea but fifa is true to that demo, and true to 09 as well, some ppl think its 'good' others clearly dont.

most pes fans remenise about the good old pro evo..ps2 style, this is what i am comparing the pes10 demo to. even in demo form it should be superior to the old games right?

but it seems to lack that sparkle or fun factor imo id gladly be shown wrong by the final game but i suspect i wont be. i have pro on pre order and havent played fifa since RTWC some many years ago before the year 2000!

ill get pro evo or go without a football game tbh. but konami are always so full of promise yet on these next gen consoles have really failed to deliver each time out. the demo is representative of this failure to deliver. i am hoping the final game WILL be better but its not going to be that much different. all those thinking it will be 100% changed in final release are kidding themselves:/

^The pes demo is really an old build. And old builds lack many new things. Now with these new things in the game, it would become better. That's not polishing, it's adding. They're different. You can polish when the game is almost ready, but the pes demo is far from ready.
The WE demo is another story. It's a later build an already you feel the difference. I hope there will be this difference between the we demo and the full version of pes..:) According to those who played the 90% build of pes says that there is so we can hope. I believe this has the potential to be the best pes ever, but I need to play it to confirm it.,
And also even in the pes demo it already better than pes 09. You should play them both side by side and the difference is really there. The we demo is obviously better though.

Your choice but your missing out, fifa 10 is seriously good at times, but it takes real practice though, its completley different to pes 2009 in terms of gameplay, so it would be a nasty shock for anyone crossing over.

Im gonna put fifa 09 back in the xbox today and prolly play some pes 6 as well, im expecting the difference to be quite apparent.

I'm glad that Konami have stated they are going back to their roots. Their online forum suggests real changes are afoot but the lazy decision to release the old build suggests they are not. Still, I'm looking forward to trying it. I don't mind if it takes ages to learn, as long as the end product is worth it.

Nah even most of the people in charge here aren't really biased towards PES anymore. I really want PES to come through in the end, but at this stage there's not much denying which football game is a better "simulation". However, Konami are making better decisions and taking a decent direction. Hopefully they'll win us back over. There will still be plenty of people who will love PES this year. It's very different to the feel of FIFA and will attract a market of people, its just the traditional PES market have migrated somewhat, myself included. I am still getting the game, I want to give it the best chance.

KUSHTY:

Im not here to argue with you but you are telling me that your final straw was the embargo and price drop.

PES2010 is relatively inexpesnive and it will come out 3 weeks after FIFA10.

So your logic of getting FIFA simply bc of the price drop and embargo and release date set by KONAMI are ridiculous.

Now, if you actually like FIFA and you think your money will be worth it than thats fine. Like I have always said: Buy the game you like the most.

Embargos, late release dates, and prices should not matter when it comes to similar items. Those things should work on the uninformed customer. Your avg. JOE who goes into the store and sees FIFA on shelf for an attractive price. You seem to know much about both games so dont go saying the embargo and price drop and release dates are your final straw. For an informed customer you should know better.

Yea, as I've said I am now going to get PES as well. However, I am still annoyed about what I said in my first post. Many people who I might have played with at PES (your 'average joe') have now bought FIFA for the price drop, embargo and release date and Konami and I will both suffer as a result. Konami should have sorted that.
