PES5 Demo Impressions Thread

What Zidane trick are people on about earlier in the thread and how do you do it. Also has any one noticed that crossing from the wings (ie double tapping o) depends more on the d-pad. It took me ages to notice this and i kept passing to the back post every time not realising i was actually aiming there.

Well, having played around 10 games on the demo, all looks good (apart from CTD if there's an injury). However, would I be prepared to part with £25+ for thsi improvement? Probably not. It is more like an update than a revised version so I think I'll be sticking with PES4 until PES5 becomes a bargain bin item.

Help. I can't actually install the demo. When I click finish when it's installed it says "1628: Failed to complete installation" Can anyone help me? I've put it in google and tried everything, but nothing works.

I liked the game so far, but since i have been a fun of the series from the beginning, and happen to play football outside of my computer's monitor, i can't but notice a few not so good changes.

First and most important, It seems like you can't make any proper L1+Triangle through passes at all, when they are supposed to create a "player vs keeper" situation. The players seem pretty able to make a proper long-through pass when it is done around the middle part of the field, and seem to suddenly make em way too strong and hard when they are closer (not so close that they couldnt be made in RL football too) to the nets. They become then not through passes as intended, but almost (and sometimes even without the "almost") direct passes to the opposite keeper. This easily kills many good goal scoring tactics that require a long through assist to the attacker as a finishing touch. I hope konami addresses this in the final release, though i doubt it will happen.

And to conclude my post, the fouls even when not tackling happen way too often, almost frustratingly often. Not that they shouldn't when they are hard, but they seem to result to a whistle even when they are not. Like coming face to face with the attacker and rush to pick the ball. Or clearly stretching the leg and picking the ball while running side by side with the attacker.

Of course these are personal comments.

Im hugely disappointed with the PES5 demo. I loved Pes4 sooo much too but, i just cannot see the improvements talked about in this post (and i really tried to find them)

Ive now played the demo for hours and hours and certain annoying things have become apparent.

The noise of EACH kick - What the hell is that all about? Its now like some plastic thud (if you programme in Flash, you'll know what i mean) and hugely takes away from the realism of the game.

I find free kicks conceded/won nearly every 20-30 seconds. It seems nearly every tussle for the ball ends up in a free kick now. If it wasn't for the ref playing advantage sometimes, the game would be unplayable.

The game / ball plays like it is now on marble or hard ice or concrete. There is a very noticable lack of control and that was the one thing that made Pes4 so satisfying - Less control has to be a bad thing. It just feels much more "slidey" for want of a better word.

I'd also moan about the shooting and set pieces but, im not going to as it may just be me that's simply no good at it yet but, again, there definitely seems like less "pick up and play" control to that aspect too.

The animations for most parts of this game seem EXACTLY like Pes4 including celebrations, the referee, bookings, fair play bollocks etc etc - also disappointing! The only new animations seem to a few things in game like the sliding tackle, turning and maybe a shot or two and these are not that much of plus in my opinion. They dont add to the game enough to make up for the overall loss of satisfaction that i grew to love in Pes4.

Oh dear - Im gutted about this as im a huge Pes fan :-( Never mind, it still plays fifa off the park!

Red..

I hate to break it to you but you need to change your style of play if your giving that many free kicks away. I think people are just holding the <sprint> and <pass> buttons down when they dont have the ball meaning, TONS of fouls, they want to make tackling harder, the slide tackles are better, now actually worth doing unlike before in PES4.

The shooting is HOT, in PES4, it was almmost impossible to get a volley on target, no matter how close... you could only seem to aim it on the angles of a D-Pad. With PES5, you can curl the ball BIG time... i managed to curl one into the top corner, something ive NEVER seen in PES4, and i play PES4 like everyday... for the whole year lol. Ive used the R2 button accidently, didn't know it was meant to do something, but Henry pulled off the sweetest goal... very nice looping soft shot into the corner.

My best goal came from a cross headed out to the edge of the box, then one touch from Zidane to control it very sweetly, double tap R2 to do a special move around the defender, and half volleyd it off the post, wish i FRAP'sd it so i could show u.

The game rocks, perservier with it, change your style and adapt, and you will love it like PES4 im sure, but WAY more!

I remember when PES4 came out and people said it sucked cuz it wasn't like PES3... it totally changed and people couldn't decide whether it was better or not, go and try playing PES3 after a year of PES4... i did, and thought OMG, this sucks lol... PES5 will be God.

Sure the sounds aren't all there, i hit the crossbar and it didnt make a sound... but, this happened in PES4 demo for me, sounds sucked, but they cleared it up by PES5. Soon as all the patches and Wolfs genious work comes to the scene, dont worry about names and stuff, thats what TheWolf is for!

/bow to TheWolf.

Enjoy!

The Wolf is this yankee that makes PES patches. He said he would retire because he didnt like WE9 and didnt expect PES5 to be any better. But him being the graphics lover that he seems to be is going to like this one i think because it looks really good. He was expecting more, like the rest of us, but the improvement is in my opinion acceptable. It seems that Konami have gotten more rights than expected anyway and i doubt large patches will be needed in PES5. Probably just a few badges and kits here and there and a couple of names changed.

Ok he will come back i reckon, if he likes nice graphics then he wouldn't be able to resist PES 5
