Anyone read the thing about Black Ops and the PS3?
Issues affecting the biggest-selling videogame of 2010 have prompted lobbyists to haul Activision before the authorities.
Since launch the PlayStation 3 and PC versions of ‘Black Ops’ have suffered technical problems relating to online gameplay. Indeed the ongoing bugs and connection difficulties have become such an issue for users that gaming lobbyist group Gamer’s Voice has decided to report ‘Black Ops’ publisher Activision to the Office of Fair Trading.
Yeah, the guy at the checkout couldn't scan the barcode. What did you do in the end?
Something about the online being dodgy or something, I'll try and find the article.

Sold on play.![]()
Have you had the console for two years, or did you get the YLOD in two years? Did they tell you how long they expect the console to last after each "repair"? If they returned it to you "as good as new", then you should expect a longer life than a year. However, it's probably not worth making a claim, to be honset. They'll probably make it a pain...The fact that, though Sony claim YLOD is so rare, but my PS3s have had the yellow light fault twice in (probably just under) 2 years, do you think that would make a valid claim/argument for a free repair or some kind of extended warranty or even compensation?
...I'd suggest getting a new console. I would've also advised getting some sort of accident & damage cover. You can usually get one for about £30 to £50 for three years. Just before the time runs out, you can "accidentally" break your console and get a brand new replacement, no questions asked. Well, that's how it's sold. I say "would've advised", because I'm not sure if it's worth it now. How long until the next console comes out? It's bullshit, I'm reluctant to cough up again. If I do have to pay out of my arse again, I'll probably just go for the slim model for an extra £100 - it's just a shame and a real inconvenience. Also, do game shops accept faulty PS3s to be traded in? Perhaps as part of an exchange for a new PS3? ¬_¬
I had the first console not long after it came out, so was about three years until it YLOD'd, and then after forking out for a replacement, "as good as new", it's gone and done the same after just over a year. So I've been owned two PS3s in 2 years, both of which have been cock-slapped by YLOD.Have you had the console for two years, or did you get the YLOD in two years? Agree with everything you're saying, and as awesome as the Xbox is (and as stupid as this sounds), it just doesn't feel right! I've played with Playstation from the PS1 to now and play COD or Fifa on anything other than a Playstation controller is weird as fuck to me.
But yeah, I think Sony's handling it all really badly - not a good look.
The only plus is that I shouldn't have to worry about it happening again if I get a new slim model - as there haven't been any reports of that happening with them.
Gamers are reporting that Sony's recent PlayStation 3 firmware "security patch" prevents users from upgrading the console's hard disk drive.
PS3 firmware update v3.56 – released last week – was described as a "security patch" by Sony bigshot Eric Lempel.
Some speculated that it was an attempt by Sony to prevent George "Geohot" Hotz's infamous jailbreak from working.
However, reports indicated the patch itself was hacked just days after release – and now it seems it has caused problems for unsuspecting PS3 owners.
Eurogamer reader Chris Marshall, aka Marshall2008, took to Eurogamer's forum to spread the bad news: "At present you will get error 8002f2c5 when you change your HDD and the only way to fix it is to put the old drive back in," he wrote.
"I bought a 320GB HDD to upgrade my 120GB PS3 Slim. I stuck the drive in and got the usual message about putting in a USB drive/stick with update 3.56 or newer on. I stuck the old drive into a sata caddy formatted it and put the update on. All good so far until it gave me error 8002f225.
"Checking online it appears to be a firmware bug which screws up upgrading your HDD. Unfortunately for me I wiped the original drive so I can't just stick it back in and I will have to wait for a fix."
Eurogamer reader Joseph Bat then pointed Eurogamer towards spiralling threads on the official EU PlayStation forum.
