This for the people who have experienced the stutter. What you should do is during a ML or cup game is EJECT the dvd while in play, and what do you see or rather don`t, the damn stuttering is gone. But it is`t this easy because when a faul is committed the game goes black until you put the game back in so that`s the only drawback. (you also need the dvd when you turn ON commentary)
There is a way to stop the stutter in exhibition, you to put the crowd atendance on RANDOM and NEUTRAL as far as I know. But if you have the stutter you can`t make it go away in the cup games or ML. This hasn`t got anything to do with the crowd chants, the DVD just keeps spinning for some unknown reason (if commentary is OFF) and sometimes it gets stuck. This hasn`t got anything to do with the ps2 that is having trouble handling it. Because that`s slowdown and that`s present also, but the slowdown doesn`t affect the gameplay in any way whatsoever.
One funny thing though, why are some people saying that there isn`t any stutter?
there are 3 answers to that the first if of course, that some people have a better ps2 lens so the dvd doesn`t get stuck, or they are lucky and they have a different batch. But the majority of gamers who don`t experience the stutter it`s just because they don`t see it (and thats a very very good thing ,I wish I didn`t see the stutter!). It`s all about perception, just test it. Show the game to people who haven`t heared anything about the stutter, the won`t notice it.
So my only conclusion of this all is that konami have made a "beginners" mistake while the game was in production, the first batch of games is not correctly burned.( hell I could do a better job with nero). But if konami takes a note of this I don`t see why they can`t burn the next batch correctly.
So a tip for all the people who want a copy with no stutter: keep checking the forums and other sources and when Konami releases a none-stuttering-batch buy the game again change your current dvd with the new one and return the game back to the store
