thats the problem its to serious it looks dull to play and boring where as pes2010 remains true to being a game.
Wow! Been gone for nearly a day and this thread has totally exploded. Unfortunately into the classic PES vs FIFA...
Now, I highlighted the statement above because something about it struck me. This is the way I understood what you're saying here Perfectstrike - and please correct me if I'm wrong:
People are choosing PES now instead of FIFA because it's more true as an arcade game, whereas FIFA is too serious (realistic?)?
You see; that's why a lot of us old guys chose PES instead of FIFA back when ISS Pro Evo came out on the PSX. FIFA was too arcade'ish whereas PES seemed more lifelike.
It's funny that most of the guys who logged on to this forum back in 2003, have actually converted - in a more or less way - over to FIFA after the '09 installment. Mainly because they now feel that PES has become the arcade sprint-fest and FIFA has become more simulation'ish.
I admit that I've choosen FIFA for the first time ever this year (09-version) mainly because of the much better animation all around (soo many great small details happening all over the pitch animation wise during a game). I totally loved the way the players jostled for the ball when running side by side. But most importantly: Playing a game with everything set on manual (or even semi) was something so profoundly new to me personally, that I felt it was kind of a small revolution to football games.
Honestly now! How many of you in here, who are saying that FIFA is the same game and it's sooo easy to score - has actually tried playing with settings set for full manual?
Guys I'm not trying to defend FIFA vs PES here. Please keep it sober if you choose to answer this post.
Admittedly the biggest downside to FIFA is the cpu AI and most notably the individual player likelyness. It's true that there is no difference when passing with Iniesta or Xavi compared to a regular danish defender from the danish league, when the setting is on manual.
PES has always been far better than FIFA in that department and by the looks of things, they are surely cruising they way steadily toward widening that gab even further with the '10 installment.
Another post that really struck me (which I can't find right now - sorry) is someone posting, that PES is now going backward to building upon an older build (PES6 I believe?) to make this years game better that the last 2 years installments...
Well, in my ears, that doesn't very much like evolution? How come that FIFA is able to build something new to become a better game and PES has to go backwards in their progamming just to make a decent game? Again - not meant as a statement that one game is better than the other - just meant as a question?
As I see it both games are eaqually good. It's really just a matter of taste and what you prefer. None of the two current games are rubbish (anybody saying either game i rubbish is bordering fanboy'ishm) and neither game is stunningly perfect.
I chose FIFA this year also because I basically got angry at how lazy Konami had got. I mean, look how slowly they've been evolving and perfecting their game these last 3-4 years compared to FIFA, who litteraly has been a steamtrain run wild in building their game into something better than what it was. One can argue that their game still isn't as good as Konami's. But one can't deny the fact how much better FIFA has become compared to their own franchise!
Two years ago it was unthinkable haveing a discussion about which game was better. Back then it was a no contest - and the FIFA players knew it. PES was king. So just the fact that we have had a discussion about which game is better now over I can't remember how many hundred posts is evidence that the gab between the two games now, is so small, that it's really a matter of what you prefer and no longer a matter if the other game is utter rubbish.
For us who are just footballfans are in for a treat. There'll be two great footiegames out this year.
