First Played Ever

Yes, a simplistic and grammatically incorrect title for a thread but what game was the first game you ever played or can remember playing?

I'm sure I remember playing amiga titles and pac man, space invaders, some winter skiing stuff.....but the first title I clearly remember owning myself and playing was:

Alex Kidd In Miracle World on the Sega Master System. This was the first console we owned as a family and the game came built into the console around 1990. We'd spend a few hours all sitting down having our few lives each until we died watching each other (mom, dad, older sister and me, younger sis was too young) try our best to finish this. As a child this was immensely hard and no-one in my family ever managed the feat of finishing it (well my dad claimed he did but no-one ever saw him do it). As time passed though and we got new games we gave up on this.

I downloaded it about 3 months ago through the Wii Virtual Console. The difficulty is nowhere near as hard as I remember (up until the bastard of a final level) and I finally managed to finish it after all these years.

Anyone else care to share their early games.

Either Super Mario, or Alex Kidd for me, I also liked a game on PS1 called Pandemonium, don't know if anyone will remember it, I quite liked it. I played a lot of Doom as well growing up, and Duke Nukem, great games.

Sonic The Hedgehog on the Game Gear. It was actually my mum that got me into it, she used to play it a bit too.

Dragonfly

Waiting....
This is the first I remember playing. My mum used to be the best in the family at it.

Sonic and Streets of Rage/Golden Axe/Shinobi (3 in 1) on Sega Megadrive.

First football game was Fifa 96 on PC.

The first game I ever bought with my own money though was this "gem" and I use the term ironically.

Ridiculously bullshit!

Then again, it was the pirated version, which only cost $5.

The first original game that I bought was The Orange Box on the PS3. Regretted it, because it was shite.

Was probably an Atari ST game. Either Batman or Kick Off.

First console game I played was Mario Bros or Duck Hunt on the NES.

Ah .. some classic titles in here ... Well the first Computer game I played was "JET SET WILLY" and the first game I owned myself was "TREASURE ISLAND DIZZY". The Dizzy games are iconic, I'm not sure if PESGaming generation has even heard of them but anyone with a Spectrum or Amiga has no doubt ploughed hours into the puzzle solving platformer.

Ha, I remember them well my dear Sminky.

First non-footy game I remember playing was Jetpac on the ZX Spectrum. Awesome gameplay and graphics at the time :erm:

First footy game was probably Football Manager, first 'arcade' footy would have been Match Day.

Just look at the graphical prowess! 8 way directional control with one button to pass, lob, shoot. And people think they have it bad now!

Still, lost many an hour (in between game crashes) playing this in mini-leagues with mates.

Sminky, my Dad had a Spectrum which he used to bring down from the loft every now and then. The only games I remember having were:

Horace Goes Skiing
Daley Thompson's Decathlon
The Hobbit (a crappy text adventure game where I couldn't get past the 3rd room!)
Football Manager 1982

I know there were others, but can't remember them off the top of my head.

I had Horace goes Skiing, classic. The most memorable game I had as a nipper was "A Day In The Life" (which you played as Clive Sinclair's disembodied Head traveling to work). Bear Bovver was another regular on the Spectrum 48k. Jeez. That was 25 years ago!

Dizzy was brilliant. Never got round to finishing it tho when I had it as only borrowed it off a friend for a week or so.

First game I remember finishing was Black Belt (originally a Fist of The North STar game in Japan). This had two distinct game styles, the levels were a simple side scrolling beat em up but the boss battles were immense one on one fights accompanied by a brilliant soundtrack and a ridiculously fast 50+combo to finish each boss. I still remember it today and tbh, is one of the best 8bit OST i can remember

I'd love them to release Dizzy on the Virtual Console so I can finish it once and for all. I never even got to the Beanstalk phase.
