Why did you double-quote Rodrigo Moreno?

Emphasis. Rodrigo Moreno being one of your best players is like me using Marega next year. Or if with United, using Rojo and make him win the Ballon d'Or.

Doesn't matter how shit he is, I'd still class him as "fake". The development curves for regens are insane. Personally, I couldn't feel any accomplishment in developing an already ludicrously highly rated fake 16yr old Totti, for example (who, btw, is still playing in my game, age 43!).

This is not one of those cases. Apart from Quaresma I don't have a player like that in my team (maybe Bruno Alves. Ricardo Carvalho is good, but it is mainly from the games played and training boosts). This guy seems to be developing steadily, slower than Odegaard for sure, and with worse stats. I can't call him a "fake overpowered player". For me, this is the closest I've used to a random fake FIFA player. I didn't even know the man before finding him in PES!

He wasn't rated that highly to begin with, but kept developing past his supposed peak. He was with me from the beginning (I was Bolton, and he was on loan to us that season).

The thing about regens is, when someone posts a pic of one, all I think is "meh". For one, there is a good chance that player will never appear in my game, and his rating may not be the same (?). However, if I see someone post a pic of a player that DOES exist in the game by default (ie, is a real existing player, at the correct age (+ x number of years development), then I might think "he looks great, maybe I'll try to sign him".

That "regen rating difference" part happens with normal players as well. I bought Coman in my Pescara ML because you were having great results with him, and he was shit (and never stopped being so).

And regens always appear, just at different times. That I can understand, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm only in for portuguese players, so it doesn't really affect me.

Also, I prefer young players (regens, if you want) to aging ones. Yes, Cancelo and Iuri are "old" (nearing 30), but I kinda have a connection with them (how lame does this sound?). Ilori, Cavaleiro, Semedo, all those, I was happy to replace them. And I like having regens, I can show them what they could have achieved (the one I was speaking about) and how far they could have gone. Or even change their style completely (Eliseu).

That's odd. I'm not the only one that had success with Coman. How's his development curve?

I have noticed differences in the curves between my MLs, I'm not sure if this is because they're random, or whether one of the data packs had any impact.

For example, James in my previous ML peaked at about 87OVR. In my current one, he was already higher than that when I signed him, and is STILL developing (just about) aged 28!

I no longer have that save file, but I'm almost sure his speed was on low 80s, same with dribbling. A bit lower than this, and with at least 2 or 3 seasons of development on top of him. My guess: his stats were updated, and the first PES2016 Coman was terrible.

I'm a bit annoyed that one of my players (Ziyech) has reached his peak without having his flourish. He's 88OVR, so pretty damn good, plus with the long range shooting perks he's a fucking beast. Just a shame he couldn't progress even more, especially since others who have had their flourish, have surpassed him OVR wise.

Swings and roundabouts, all depends how early you sign him in your ML.

I don't think this is an argument we can win unfortunately, Ali thinks regens are the spore of Satan :D

Nah, not quite. I can understand them being important if you want to do a ML for 10+ seasons, but not if you're only doing 5-7. There's plenty of real life young players to develop in that case.

As I've said before, if Konami implement a proper youth player system, I'd be happy. But they'd probably fuck it up. There'd be 16yr old Spanish players called JIMMY SMITH, 85OVR with a full bushy beard, dark skin, and a bleached blonde pony tail.....

Oh, you mean Djibril Cisse?

I'd like to see Konami's take of Abel Xavier.

That's PES 2017's Icelandic 16yr old wizzkid, LEE CHUNG-PYO.

In fairness, even Fifa has some freakish looking youth players players.

I find FIFA faces alien-like, they have some spot on but the rest (like 80%), even more the default ones, are unbelievably bad.

While changing that hairstyle I noticed something: hair colour is not remotely similar to the RGB colour you choose (RGB with 62 values, because why the fuck not), and same hair colour varies in shade between different hairstyles. Very amateur from Konami.

My Ml

I'm going to introduce you my ML.
Team: Birmingham City

Personal Rules:
- Restricted transfers in 1st season. I play with Birmingham roster and only 4 transfers allowed: 1Gk, 1 defence, 1 midfielder, 1 forward.
- No regens in my team.
- I don't sign up super stars as Neymar, Messi... I prefer to develop young "unknown" players as Odegaard, Embolo, El-Ghazi...
- Manual passing and shooting.
- I play away games in highest difficulty level (I usually lose) and home games in 2nd highest difficulty level (I usually win).

Actually I'm beggining my 3d season. This is my starting 11:
Gk: Scuffet
Lb: Baba Rahman
Rb: Elsey Hysaj
Cb: Leo Chambers
Cb: Galloway
Dmf: Kietfenbeld
Amf: Odeegard/Toral
Lmf: Kingsley Coman
Rwf: Anwar El-Ghazi
Ss: Fabbrini
CF: Bertrand Traore

I still keep 9 former Birmingham players but only Fabbrini, Kietfenbeld, Toral and Artur play habitually. Fabbrini is my top scorer.
I totally recommend Chambers (CF) and El-Ghazi. I have just signed up Odeegard and he seems to be a master. Coman also seems to be good (maybe breaking my rule of not signing up stars?).

Which young player do you recommend for my team? I tried with Ntcham but the bast*** seems to hate Birmingham, always refuses to deal.

Thanks and sorry for my english (I'm spanish).

Well, you've already got one of the best, in Odegaard. But otherwise, I'd recommend:

Defence:
Alex Silva
J. Van Anken
Doria
Douglas Costa
J Gimenez
E Dier

Midfield:
J Quintero
H Ziyech
K Coman
D Ceballos
Brown (I Brown)
N Cerveira (real name Gerson)
Bambidele Alli

Forwards:
Yuri Mamute
S Druissi
Luis Henrique
R Martinez
B Embolo
Malcom
D Berardi

Adding to Ali's list, you have:

CB

Laporte, Rugani, Rudiger

RB

Cancelo (the best), Bellerín

LB

Bernat, Robinson, Shaw, Gayà if you change his stats

DMF/CMF/AMF

Neves, Kranevitter, Kovacic, Arnold (alternative to Ntcham), Denis Suarez (great passing range), Camarasa, Ndong, Renato Sanches, Benassi, Will Hughes, Hendrick... so many great options. Ceballos is a must-have.

WF

Iturbe, Fekir, Jesé, Andersen, Halilovic, Bakkali, Bernardeschi, Talisca, Munir, N'jie... also a lot of options here. Best one is, by far, Viktor Fischer.

CF

André Silva, Batshuayi, Mitrovic, Success, Sandro, and so on.

My advice: create a set of rules to help you narrow down these lists.

Ok thanks, huge list! Some of them are already on my favourite list (as Fekir, Malcom, Alli, and Robinson). In my PES 2015 ML I had Embolo, Denis Suarez, Halilovic, Talisca, Gaya and Hughes and I want to test another players.

As Rebelinho said, I’ll check my stats preferences to narrow down the list. I never pay attention to overall stat, but I search these specific stats (in order of preference):

- For CB: Ball winning, Defensive prowess, Speed, Explosive power and Body Balance.

- LB/RB: Speed, Explosive power, Ball winning, Defensive prowess and Lofted pass.

- DMF: Ball winning , Defensive prowess, Low pass and Speed.

- CMF: Low pass, Ball Control and Dribbling.

- AMF: Ball Control, Dribbling and Low Pass.

- Wingers: Speed, Explosive power, Lofted pass, Ball Control and Dribbling.

- CF: Kicking Power, Speed, Explosive power, Ball Control and Dribbling.

Do you agree with me or do you have other preferences?

Ali

Speed isn't important for defenders IMO.... especially since speed matters very little in this game. Likewise with DMFs. For DMFs, you need good physical attributes, as well as defence, passing etc. CMFs need to more balanced.

For CFs - don't forget shooting and heading. Dribbling isn't important, same with speed.

These are the stats one player must have for me to use regularly/buy in hopes of development

GK: all the GK stats above 80.

CB: Defensive Prowess and Ball Winning over 85, Body Balance over 80, Passing, Dribbling and Ball Control over 70~75, for at least one of the CBs, and the other must have at least 185 cm, 80 in Jump and Heading.

LB/RB: Stamina and Dribbling over 80, Lofted Pass over 80 for the RB, 75 for the LB, Speed stats over 80 for the RB, 85 for the LB. I only cross from the right, left back dribbles more through the defence.

DMF: Passing over 85, Ball Winning and Defensive Prowess over 80, Physical stats over 80 with Stamina over 85.

CMF: Passing, Dribbling, Ball Control, Explosive Power, Body Balance and Ball Winning over 75~80, Stamina over 85. If he's short Explosive Power and Passing take preference over strength (Moutinho, for example).

AMF: Dribbling over 95 (85 if young player (YP)), Ball Control over 90 (80 if YP), Passing over 75, Explosive Power over 85, left footed, under 180 cm, and if possible with Stamina over 80.

RWF: Speed, Explosive Power and Dribbling over 85, Stamina over 80. If right footed, Lofted Pass and Swerve over 85. If left footed, Shot Power/Shooting over 80.

LWF: Speed and Explosive Power over 85, Dribbling over 90, Stamina over 80. If Speed around 80, at least 85 in Finishing and Heading (kinda like Ronaldo). Right footed.

CF: Right footed, Shooting, Heading, Attacking Prowess over 90 (80 for YP), Body Balance over 85, Shot Power, Stamina and Jump over 80, Speed and Dribbling over 75.

In the end it all goes down to a simple thing: if I like playing with them or not. But this is a broad summary of my team stats at the moment.
