correct kits/updated squads etc are great - makes it seem like a new game. The control isn't as accurate as the PS2 version, which I've found hard to get used to and frustrating (using PS2 pad and adapter from play.com). Plus I'm worried that playing the PC version has made me worse at the PS2...

So a good dribble speed helps to step past a defender, whereas top speed gives the best indication of straight line dribbling speed?

Some players seem to have a higher value for dribble speed than top speed. Does this mean they are faster at dribbling than running? Doesn't seem very likely, so is dribble speed relative to top speed? eg a player with top speed of 75 and dribble speed of 80 can dribble at 80% of 75?

I've not tried the Eastern, but I think the Western seems easier than Northern or Southern.

Alexandris is unbelievably good value. I'm paying him less than 600 (lesser lights league) and he is top scorer in Div1 5star, not even had him all season - so good it almost spoils the game.

I think its best to leave big name players at their real clubs. Where's the satisfaction i beating Man Utd if Van Nistelroy is sitting on your bench or Keane is your defensive midfielder? Same goes for Owen, Henry etc..
