I've tried a formation like this before, and for me there was little support feom the wings as the wingbacks wern't getting forward enough on the break, i had to slow the play down and wait for them to come forward. Any different more wing orientated formations?

I find that too usually, I think the key here is pulling the backline up very far so that the WB's are actually not too far naturally from the WF's.

You might want to try the last formation Observer posted with three at the back and SM's; I tried it and it's good but I found that the side mids got a bit too far up for my liking so maybe it will suit you better.

Omnis that's a really nice looking diagram design, although I can't tell which players are moving where. It is beautiful to look at though.

Lately I have been using Barcelonas default formation and then tweaking it in game if the need arises. Like against Chelsea I'll make my full backs stay back and dominate the midfield and things like that. I've kind of lost my patience in setting up 3 formations as I rarely need to use them. Before the game I'll be able to tell the oppositions strengths and weaknesses and set my team up accordingly. But still every now and again I'll set up formation A if I want to finish my smoke off before kick off.

Still loving PES5, can't wait for PES6.
I cant wait to see what type of class advanced formations you come up with for PES6! I think you should definately try to get past your impatience and continue to make 3 templates per formation. You normally have the balanced formation as default, then Formation A could be your all-out-attacking formation & Formation B could be your ultra-defensive formation or something like that! Sometims I like to combine some of your formations with Observers as I feel that use are the best formation creators! I think that you should continue to make formations designed to be effective against human opponents like some of your earlier formations! Anyways just wanna say thanks & please dont stop making PES formations!

Hey Guys.

Great thread this..read from top to bottom and very interesting indeed.

My question though concerns making a formation for me beloved West Ham United.

Ive tried various formations, but just cant seem to overpower sides, either it ends up 1-1 or i lose by the odd goal.

If anyone has some ideas regarding them i would be very grateful, i dont play ML atm, just getting to grips with the game as a whole, but when i do edit and make my formations i go into ml so they save to stock.

What i want to do is beat other people with stock players from the game if possible, ive a couple friends i play now and then and they just cane me with their teams....i guess it's mainly because they always pick the best teams like juve, arsenal, manu, where i stick with West Ham.

Im using the Superpatch 3.1 atm as well and have usb convertor for my ps2 pads.

Update: here is the updated version, played around with it a bunch last night and this works even better (though the former may be better VS teams with less wing threat).

<img src="http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/7274/pressureqt2.jpg">

I moved the fullbacks back, I use them for buildup play only and as this isnt a counterattacking formation I found that they didn't need to be pushed up beside my wingers. This allows better defense too obviously...

I also found the original CF's role slightly wasted as it was normally the wingers who'd go on breaks, so I moved him back to help with the midfield, and he still catches up on the breaks just fine, and in this position he is even better for the holding role. I also removed the DMF as I now have all I need for the midfield without sacrificing too much offense, and placed a sweeper behind the CB's, which helps a TON on defense. Overally this is a very mobile formation, when you get in the groove and have a nice buildup play going there is plenty of offense, and on defense you have plenty of people back to help out.

I don't want to disrespect your team cos I think the Hammers are fantastic, but as far as PES5 goes they don't have the best stats in the game, as you probably realise. This is the problem, not the formation. Playing against the top teams will always be a struggle because they have the upper hand on stats.
You could try playing to contain and snatch cheeky goals from set pieces and so forth. Not the most attractive football, but played right it can bring results.
It's difficult to set up teams for other people playing against humans, cos there is no way of telling how they will play.
I admire your loyalty, but I doubt I will be able to help in this instance as I don't often (ever) use West Ham. That might change on PES6 though, things are looking good for Pardew and his crew.
Sorry mate.

P.s watch this space for a delicious 4-4-2/4-2-4/2-4-4 (that's right, 2 at the back) attacking beauty coming soon.....

Quick taster for those that can't wait, it may be a few weeks before I get to post the image (working now!)

DEFENCE
Back four quite high, full backs as high as possible.
Centre backs High defence, normal for full backs.
Attacking arrows forward on full backs.

MIDFIELD
Two Defensive midfielders, on half way line, just inside circle.
High Defence for both, and attack arrows forward and back.

ATTACK
Two strikers just inside the 18y box. Support strikers, close to midfield, at their widest inside the SS guide box.
Strikers low defense, Support strikers High defense.
Attack arrows back and forward on strikers. Diagonal forward and back (towards goal and centre circle) for support strikers.

If that doesn't make sense (which I understand it might not) just wait for the image!

Hi JMZ....hey, what are the Settings for this formation (Line Defence, Zone Press, Offside Trap & Counter attack) and also any specific strategy settings for this also? Cant wait to see the image.

Thanks again.

Mmmmm

I'm not posting my main formation on here, as I am not willing to submit a product of years of experience to just anyone...I have found what I believe to be the most effective formation for my type of play - it involves WF's; that's all I will disclose on here. I only ever use this formation, there is no need to tinker or be dictated by the opposition. It is unlike any formation already posted on this thread. However if you are intrigued and ask nicely I might send you it via email. Maybe...

Some people might be sick of seeing yet another WF formation - especially those that play online :D

I was at the national PES5 finals yesterday and plenty of people used WF varieties. Stick Ronaldinho at LWF and chaos ensues.

Here are the formations of the UK PES5 national champion (right) and the finalist (left):

The score was 5-1.

Hey Zygalski...

Hi, do you know what the attack arrows, taem tactics and defensive arrows were for the PES 5 champs formation?

Thanks.

I know there are so many players using WFs online, but its probably because they are so cool :w00t I think if there was more details in formation settings for configuring player behaviours, that would maybe influence more original formations. like instead of sticking a forward pointing attack arrow on a player and know he'll just leg it up the pitch every opportunity leaving bags of space behind him - be better to choose a percentage of how agressive he does this. I just love detail, adds more science to the game. I think formation settings are too limited on pes5.

Not really. You'd have to ask him. Plenty of arrows going forwards and backwards though.

Thanks Zyg (WF's VS SS's)

No problem, thanks for the feedback Zyg. Hey, can you or anyone offer your opinions on the pros & cons when comparing WF's vs, SS's???
