I beg your pardon?
I like the look of it mate...
I like the way you've pulled everyone back to defend, but I don't like to do that myself cos it tends to invite the opposition to attack, and I feel the best form of defence is attack, so I've given up on using defensive formations now, lately I've been playing with three attacking formations, and a sturdy back four, always protected by at least one DMF.
At the end of the day mate, I can't really say much, cos it looks really good to me, I've used similar myself and it can be very effective when you have a lot of the ball.
If it's working for you, then keep it, but if you find yourself winning 1-0 a lot and you want more, then just tweak it a bit.
My only suggestions...
Form 1
Back Line B
Zone Press A
Offside A
Counter A

Form 2 (defensive one)
Back Line C
Zone Press A
Offside C
Counter B

Then maybe take off all your arrows on the default, then set up another identically with the arrows on your third formation, sometimes you get better movement without them... (so you have the same formation twice, but one with arrows, and one without)
Good work fella, nice use of powerpoint...

Nice stuff man! :) But the classic players don't work for me. You must be expert in PES, right?

Teekay, rest assured if you are good on PES at all, jMz's tactics will improve your game. However if you are a novice practise your game before trying these tactics.

I was quite a pro in PES3. I've played PES for over a week now, and I'm getting pretty good at it. I'm really winning 6star com now all the time. I will soon start master league, after I do the editing stuff. These tactics look good, I will try them sometime. :)

EDIT: now I know what is that "Master of tactics" thing. By the way the default Bayern Munich tactics work pretty well, I made some changes like change LM & RM into OM. I will post the changes later.

I like to think I'm pretty good.... Maybe even an expert, yes but I'll never know until I play against more people. I always win against my mates, who have been playing for a similar length of time.
People don't seem to like hearing about someone being good, but I have played Iss/Pes every day for nearly ten years now and it's just second nature. I'd be worried if I wasn't good!
The classic players are fine for me, they start in ML with lower stats, but when you get a few games in they start improving rapidly so it's not too bad. Some of them are far better than any current player, so I don't know why you can't use them???! Cantona is probably my best player from the classics, he is strong, can dribble, shoot and pass, pretty much all I need from a player and he does them all very well.
Will take a look at Bayern Munich's tactics, I imagine they are very defensive, which doesn't really suit my style, but still, I'll check it out...

jMz, i tried your suggestions and i found that my defenders got tired quite quickly and i think it was because of the "A" in Zone Press so i was wondering would it have the same effect if i had Zone Press assigned to one of my strategy buttons and used it when it was needed. Thanks

That's another way, but I find the amount of time I spend defending (very little!) it balances out just right, and by the end of the game you should be a few goals up anyway. But if you are still struggling, then yes knock it down to B or C and put it on a manual strategy, then put it on in those tricky periods when you are under the kosh. When you are controlling the game, knock it off....

Inter, Arsenal or Real formation

Shouldn't one always dictate the pace of the game, you can be in control even without the ball ;)

Has someone a selfmade formation for those teams?
I realy like the goodwork of JMZ.I guess he is hard to beat at pes.

thanks

How do notice the sweeper?

Okay, Jmz "Master of Tactics" - What is your verdict of this formation. I have just thrown it together for my first ML team. In essence i play very deffinsivly on the counter.

With a Wall of 3 defenders and 3 dmfs, sitting infront of the Box. It's pretty hard to breakthrough. Obviously the weakness of 3 backs is the vulnerablity on the wings, so the formation does require user intervention. If there is a break down the wing, i'll grab my DMF for that side and 70% of the time its possible to slide in and get the ball either into touch, of course the other 30% of the time you can either get beaten or the winger will hold it up making it hard to get a slide in. So i will be holding [] this whole time, so the CB for that side will also come accross as backup.

After getting the ball off the oppositon, thats where the fun begins. First option is the long ball, if either winger is open then obviously thats where the ball goes for the counter and this is quite often the case, then ill look for the cross and there will be 2 players running in with the opposite winger attacking into the goal as well as the CF. Otherwise i play it to the CF as a target and get him to play it back to the wings or the OMF.

Other option is short passing, getting it to the OMF to either run at the defense or play a throughball.

That's how Formation A plays, and usually as soon as i go up a goal, considering its not too early in a match - i'll convert to Formation B. Which essentially plays going forwards as Formation A does but with a bit more protection at the back especially on the side - it could convert into a 5-4-1 if it was a little deeper but ive found no need for that.

Its a simple but effective formation, and the first one i've ever used with just 3 defenders.

By the way, if the opposition plays with a sweeper ill get my CF to mark him. Seems weird, but it works well when playing in through balls and long balls.

As you'll notice I said "When you..." not when I...
Of course I am always in control... Mwahahahah

And yes Alekfyne, I am hard to beat, but not totally invulnerable... There have been some games in my past where I have been thrashed 8-1 and the like, but that doesn't happen anymore, if I get beat these days it's by the odd goal. And yes I am a big headed git, but like Mourinho, I can back it up...

I always win 1-0, probably due to my catenaccio-like system:
3 defenders(fullbacks), always marking a man
1 free man,a libero, who patrols behind the defence, to eliminate all errors of defence.
2 DMF's, not particulary marking anything, more on the zone defense-they rarely cross the half
It's a very satifsfying system, IF totally mastered to perfection.
I dont always use it, only in harder games.
But honestly, who doesnt hate to see catenaccio in real life? Nothing more boring than that really.

Iv'e been reading this thread for a couple days now and i must say im very impressed with the help given out.

Decided to sign up and maybe put a few comment in regarding the game etc.

Never really used to play much footy games on the PC, but since ive got an adapter now and im able to use ps2 controller it makes sense.

Ive got the iss and pes on the ps2, but never really got into them in the way most do, but now im able to play on my pc with decent resoultion and a decent controller it makes all the difference especially with pes4.

what my problem is so far is when editing formations and saving to stock it doesnt seem to keep them? im wondering why and if i have to edit formation within the ML part of the game?

Would love to be able to mess with the setting or formation etc, but its a pain having to edit them time and time again everytime i want to play.

Well enough for me...only other down side is i cant play my own team i support so i have to make do with juventus for now.

Great thread and i hope u keep the good work up.

cheers for now.

Han i tried your formation for Juventus and i cant get my head round it....ive played Fulham on 6 stars and can hold my own, but fulham being very defensive and heavy in midfield i tend to get over run most times and i either draw 1-1 0-0 and it goes to penalties.

Any ideas what i can do i wonder?

Tell you what, buy me an XBox, pay for Broadband in my new home, then stump up for the LIVE subscription and you can play against me any time you want.

Moving house next week after a long wait, and I won't have the net in my new home. Also this means I won't have time to make any new formations, or have the facility to post them. In fact after Tuesday, you may not see me for a while.... I'll drop in when I can....

JMZ back on the net!

JMZ lets make a deal. You work for me in my company (internet company to build websites and applications for a legaldepartment ofthe government of Holland) www.bureauinternet.nl and i buy you all the equipment you need to stay on the net. This is of the best interest for all pes players and fans. Maybe after the patch installed we can setup a competition online

greetings
Frank

Sounds interesting, although I can't speak Dutch, I know only basic Internet design (I don't know how to use asp or php properley yet), I don't know how to build applications, and the next few weeks will be really busy for me.
Thanks for the offer though... PM me with more details???
