Totti in PES 1,2 and 3. In the latest versions he is too slow and old

Owen in PES 1,2 and 3.

Batistuta in PES 1,2 and 3. The AS Roma team from PES 1 was simply amazing :)

For me Adriano was the bane of my life in recent PES. I played someone online on Pes 6, who used Inter. Adriano scored 4 goals from 25-35 yards apiece b4 half time. HaHa, b4 that I was always a fan of Nakamura playing off Henry, Kezman upfront in Master League on WE 6 on the Gamecube. Brazil Ronaldo was my main man on every PES prior to the Next Gen. Last Couple PES are all about Messi, and Gourcuff. :)

Adriano to be honest, although he was unfairly untouchable in recent versions which didn't capture his real life shitness.

I think i speak for everyone when i say Sergio Ageuro

Even when i had an entire squad of 99's he was still my best player.

Absolutley correct!

The amount of damage i did in master league on PES6 with this guy was just unreal

32 league goals in one season (very hard-top player) playing as an AM.

Even from 25 yards, every time i had the ball with him, I knew i could score at any moment.

PES6 also, Riccardo Montolivo, bloody hell, I would literally run games with this player, playmaking, scoring stunners, with him I could turn games around in one move.

PES 2: RAUL: Probably the most lethal striker ive ever played with, but i didnt play it on the hardest setting in those days, but so clinical, i still have flashbacks of his goals.

PES4: Saviola....................41 league goals in one season, thats all i gotta say about that, would literally score a goal every game he played.

PES5: Cant actually remember much pes5 to be honest...dunno why

ISS PRO EVO PSX: Anelka was fucking ruthless in that game, i think his name was ankela or summin lol, fucking brutal player, oh yeah and micheal owen, batistuta and raul.

ISS 64: Alliejo (Ronaldo)................everyone remember him surely and Koppers (Kliuvert) lethal.

From a classic PES I'd go for Rivaldo. In PES 3 he was amazing. I can't really explain it but it just felt brilliant to have him in control of the ball. He could walk past players!

From a recent PES I'd probably go for Nani. He was untouchable by the age of 24 in ML. Some other more unexpected gems from recent times were Cisse (In PES 6 he was amazing!) and Cameron Jerome??!! (He was my best striker in PES 2008).

Thinking more of earlier ones, the likes of Owen, Ronaldo, Shevchenko, Adriano, Recoba. Vieira has been a beast in the middle.

adriano, although it makes me sick to my stomach, considering his ratings are always better than Luis Fabiano! Fat Ronaldo, always been a fan of him, gutted when his career faltered, they didnt like him at Real Madrid coz as soon as he came he scored all the goals instead of their idol Raul.

One thing i dont like about the ML is that players like Montolivio turn into all around beasts making players like Riquelme obsolete. Montolivio is a great player, but he aint that quick, yet in ML everybody with half decent stats seem to get roided up into the 90s after a season or 2. i dont think this should happen. they havent yet found a way for players like Riquleme or Makelele to be play their style of football in PES as its too reliant on pace. so instead of been able to patrol that AM area with Riquelme and not exerting too much energy, just picking up the ball and dictating play with incisive passing he ends up been pretty useless, getting tackled and knackered by the 60th minute. should prolly have posted that last bit in your underrated thread but oh well...

Vladimir Beschastnykh was absolutely unstoppable on Pro Evo 3, as was Henry on number 4. Not forgetting Batistuta on pes1... his shooting was incredible.

Shevchenko and Henry were immense in PES3.

Owen was very annoying in PES4. If you couldn't get him injured early, then he'd kill destroy you with his pace.

PES5 and 6 belonged to Adriano.

Messi and Eto'o ran PES2008 and 2009.

I'd give best player to Henry though. His stats peaked in PES3, but he's still easy to control now.

I can't comment on classic players, as I think I've only used them once (PES4).

My master league teams in the past have been made up of dutch defenders. One that stands out is Frank Rijkaard who was sublime.
Roy Keane was an awesome midfielder.
Maradona or Gullit have to be 2 of the top attackers.
I have to say its betwwen Ruud and Diego for my top player.

harry kewell was immense on 3.not the best but umplayable at times.rijkaard has always been a beast and stam has pretty much always been the best defender regardless of what his stats were.if a player has a 90 plus balance he is halfway there.baresi has always been a rock too.

PES 2 - Owen was so fast, had the ball stuck to his feet at all times and was a deadly finisher. Rivaldo and Ronaldo were also excellent.

PES 3 - Didnt really play this as much as 2, but I still knew that Henry and Van Nistelrooy were the strikers to choose. From what I can remember, it was the last game where Zidane had total dominance when on the field; was strong, accurate and felt graceful.

PES 4 - For me, it was Saviola, Claudio Lopez, Vieira, Makalele and Zanetti. These men were unstoppable. The game relied a lot on pace, so Saviola and Lopez were so deadly in attack. The last game out of the series to not have the 'middle shooting' special ability, which meant I could shoot with Vieira (who had impressive shot power, shit accuracy) and it actually had a chance of going in.

PES 5 - I played Master League like it was my religion so I knew a lot of the potential stars. But for me, there was no stopping Adriano and Rooney. Once these two fat bastards reached their peak, it was game over. Honorable mentions to Babel, Kolo Toure, Colloccini, C.Ronaldo, M'Bami, Fabregas, Park Chu Young, De Ridder. They would also seem to be in my team.

PES 6 - Adriano, no debate. Any open shot from around 35M to the penalty area, a guaranteed goal.

PES 2008 - Messi and Ronaldo were very good in this, I felt the game never allowed slower midfield players to become influential in a match. Like Xavi or even Lampard.

PES 2009 - Ive got the game, havent played that much of it, but knows that Messi, Eto'o, Rooney were dominant.

Surprised no mention of C. Ronaldo in 2009 yet. Even after they nerfed his shot accuracy after the patch, he still has to be the best ever. Play him up front instead of out wide and he's untouchable. Speed, touch, strength, heading, free kicks, positioning, distance shooting; can score from just about anywhere on the pitch. It also doesn't end there as he gets a hell of a lot better in ML.

A close 2nd for me is Ronaldo from Pes 4. Heading and free kicks are important stats for me so he loses out to CR who is faster as well. But put the ball at this guy's feet in or around the box and there's a really high chance a goal will follow shortly.

3rd for me is Zidane from Pes3. Simply impossible to take the ball from and passing and control was sublime.

good shout out from HH for Zidane.
Will some of the players that have retired recently be classed as classic players in the new game?
