So who else has downloaded the map pack then? :joel:
I'm currently playing Berlin Wall - and when I say playing, I mean roaming around by myself in Private match. Berlin Wall is truly brilliant, the level of detail is great and it genuinely feels like you're decades back in Germany, the atmosphere is spot on. Not to mention the map is pretty damn big too, so to carry that level of detail over such a large area, with little unique spots as well is nice to see. I'm currently sat in a wooden oak bar in the corner chillin', seems like it a nice hang out spot. It's taken me about 5-7 minutes to really explore and appreciate just this map so far, and more specifically, just one side of the map so far. I've still a lot more to go.
If the rest of the maps follow with a similar level of great atmosphere and detail then it really could be a brilliant map pack.
EDIT: Quick thoughts:
I haven't played it much so my opinion isn't set in stone yet.
I do love Berlin Wall and Discovery though, as well as Kuwoon or whatever it's name is. Stadium on the other hand I find to be quite dull if I'm honest. There's no real atmosphere to Stadium, it's merely a small concrete map with bits of litters and coloured flags, needless to say I'm a little disappointed. It's a little bit unfortunate we don't have another large open map to utilise the sniper rifle though because while Berlin is great, there isn't particularly any other map where the sniper can be fully utilised in the way it should be.Wasteland was a great map for this in MW2. People can say it was dull, and they're entitled to their opinion but considering a lot of maps favoured the run n gunner, it's only right to even the balance and treat the more methodical players such as snipers.
I'm personally more of a distance player, I don't like to get my hands too dirty so to speak. I'd love to be great with the shotgun because it's the definition of a kick down the door and start blasting gun, but the truth is I suck with it, and I'm happy to admit that unfortunately. I am however quite handy from afar, especially with the M16, so that is usually my gameplan - to tread the edges and stay out of sight if possible. It's proving difficult to do so on Stadium with it being such a confined map (despite being labelled as 'medium' size). I just think the layout of the Stadium map could have been so much better.
Still, Berlin is fantastic and there's a real sense of atmosphere and distinct uniqueness about it.
