After playing about 5 games, one on regular, three on proffesional and one on top player, i think this game is a BIG improvement, however some things are just so annoying:

* GKs still arent up to scratch but are better
* Dribbling seems a tad too easy, most players seem to have good dribbling as if the ball is glued to their feet at times
* Passing is too assisted, i have put it to as manual as possible and the ball always goes near enough straight to feet with hardly any stray passing even when going quite a bit off
* Cant really see much difference between top player and proffessional, i can see players have more flair on top player and are a bit more dangerous, but the defending seems to give you more space and drop off a lot more than proffesional which i do concede can make scoring more difficult but it can make it easier if you can knock it around in their half 35 yards from goal
* However i have noticed the jump from regular to proffesional to be big, at half time i was winning 3-0 but on proffesional i am yet to win, with a 1-1 draw, 2-2 draw and 3-2 loss

Agreed. Unfortunately that's the way pes' difficulty always was. I remember pes 5. From 3 to 4. It was a huge jump in difficulty, but from 4 to 5, it's wasn't that big.

Anyway I won on professional 2-0 with Man UTD against Napoli. 2 super goals by Berbatov.

What about off-the ball control - I have only read one quick comment about it - how is that working? Is it in the demo?

Off the ball is in the demo. It's much harder than you think.

I didn't really like the assisted runs though. I prefer manual runs as I can make the player come closer to me, not go into spaces all the time.
And it worked. I just scored a great goal with BERBATOV. I ran into the open space with Rafael, faked a cross, and manually controlled Berbatov to come close to me, I passed the ball to him, he turned and curled it top corner. Man it was great. :) This was my first successful manual control goal.

Thanks. I expect off-the ball to be difficult to control and hard to pull off more than a few times a game. I have two eyes but if I could only focus one eye on playerA and one on playerB I would be alright.

shooting looks a bit 2 easy, two long shots in a row perfectly found the net, along with weight overall e.g. weight of the ball and traction needs a bit more work, passing seems another learning curve again but myb not as big as 2011, but overall im pleased with pes 2012 near stunning.

All you PC gamers saying its rubbish, WTF??

it must be really bad on the PC for you to be saying that. i downloaded the PS3 demo a few hours ago, havent been off it since, brilliant.

The movement of the players and ball control are amazing, the crossing is the best yet. Only downfall is the shooting if anything, whilst it has improved, still needs slightly tweaking.

Overall i love it, and i havent had this much fun on a football game since, well i cant remember. And to think, this isnt even the finished article :0

Think this year may be the best year ever for PES. The king is back!

AC Milan are miles better than United in every department. What is this madness, Seabasstard?!

My first impression is that the game is very good. AI is super tough but not artificially tough, I actually lost my first match v Napoli as United. Seems very well made.

The game doesn't seem to be afraid to actually score this year which is good. passing is good, shooting seems good so far, getting crosses in is more difficult than 2011 which is good.

Own players are responsive, first touch is great.

The programme isn't very stable on my machine, seems to be quite glitchy but that's probably just the demo, I don't expect the game to be like this.

User interface is well put together, still using the tactics screen from 2011 which I don't like but at least its easier to use everything apart from player placement which is still too fiddly.

If they don't change things too much for the second demo, and for the release, this game will suit me fine. I only play master league really, so having a tough AI will be great when I'm trying to build up a team of originals.

Looks like I may be losing what little social life I have. Not a bad thing really.

Some of you people are just blinded if you say things like one touch is great and control of players is great, I mean why would u say that? Do you even watch real soccer?

How is control and one touch great when Vidic is running with the ball and the ball is glued to his foot like he was Iniesta, its certainly not great.

Now there are many things that are improved and its certainly much better than PES 2011 but there are just facts that can't be ignored and said "oh no its great" when it isn't great.

And Response is good on 0 speed but on more its unrealistic, while speed merchant is already unrealistic on 0 speed, try it with lavezzi its insane what he does , 2 times as fast as messi in real life.

Theres lots of things that are a problem still, and you can't just turn a blind eye to them, be realistic people.

Here's my first impressions:

Not overly impressed really.

-Why did they rename some of the attributes.... "Kick power".... "Explosiveness"? Hopefully it's just a case of being lost in translation, but they don't sound right.
-I hate the new layout of the attributes, it's trying to be too like Fifa. The old layout was perfect. Why change it after all these years?
-Some player attributes are just wrong - Falcao only 77? He's as good as this James Rodriguez fella... who's only bloody 20!
-I wish they'd change Chicharito's name to Hernandez instead of using his damn nickname.
-On the pitch, a lot of the problems I have have been mentioned. My main gripe is the way players run on to passes. It's STILL automated. They either stand still or run in a straight line, and you have no control over it.
-Passing animation is poor.
-Auto slide tackles are still there.

I'm hoping for VAST improvements by the time the next demo comes around.

After playing the pc demo and finding it quite difficult i played the ps3 demo and found it to be easier. It took me 7 games before i could score on the pc version. 2 games in on the ps3 and i had scored twice. Anyone else find this ?

Keepers are really pissing me off, the off the ball set piece i worked was fab but the header went straight to the keeper who parried it but there was his own player next to him and it hit him and went in, i mean WTF, it happens both ways but i would prefer it if it was much rarer for a spill to happen, the keeper spills it more than he catches.

My main gripe is the way players run on to passes. It's STILL automated. They either stand still or run in a straight line, and you have no control over it.

This also, it pisses me off to see the player stop to allow the ball to bounce after a lofted ball so they can knock it on with their foot rather than carrying on sprinting and chesting it forwards. HOWEVER, holding R2 gives you this control i think

Also, is anyone else finding one on ones very difficult?

Auto-slide tackles can be turned off, the same way as in PES2011.

That's the type of thing that I can do in PES10, the main difference is that doing it in PES10 is as easy as tapping the L2 button, you do not have to think about direction of movement because the direction of the movement is preset, therefore making it very easy and intuitive.

I imagine the PES11 system is much more difficult to use, due to the fact that you need to direct the right analog stick in order to determine the direction of the movement, whilst also controlling the ball carrier.

But anyways, now you know how much better it is to create your own script on the fly, it offers far more entertainment. I think the whole game could work in a similar way, in accordance to preset scripts, with the preset scripts determining the direction of the off the ball movement of each individual attacking player.

Such a preset script system would be great for the defensive end of the game, because the computer would know what the team in possession intends to do, therefore the computer would not need to make decisions for the gamer and would instead react in accordance to the decisions of the gamer.

Have you tried to start play from the back by using the off the ball movement feature? For example, using Barcelona, is it possible to hold the ball with Gerard Pique and move Xavi Hernandez towards the ball carrier?

Also, can you maintain possession by making repetitive use of backward runs with the likes of Xavi Hernandez?

Could you post videos? I would highly appreciate some videos to see how the off the ball movement feature works.
