I've played a few more games. Finally won a game, though 90% of my shots seemed to go directly at the keeper.

Are there only 10 songs in this game??

somewhat correct; 9 really bad songs and one good one (I like Life Magazine's Cold Cave).

seems to be alot of complaints about shots directly to the keeper, I haven't felt the same. I have been putting shots to the corners and missing many wide. Another post getting action recommends removing all the assists to cure this but I don't know.

watching the arsenal vs marseille match, the match felt and looked like fifa but less automatic and worse ai. In pes you don't have the time to even pass the ball around in defence and the defending is like multitasking pressing r2 then x then realising you made a mistake then running back - it shouldn't be like. i'm not going to applaud konami for doing thinks like selecting players because that should have been there in pes 2008 when the ps3 was first out and using the r analog was in fifa.

Had some great games tonight the only super unrealistic games i've had was when facing Madrid and Barca.I just struggle like hell especially when facing Barca.Really is hard when your not using a top team.No matter how good defend they can just run through your defence with jinkiing runs.Even when your playing a terrible player.

I was astonished playing matchups against Barca online last night at how all their crosses, from as far away as the sideline, end up right on messi's forehead. It got to the point I couldn't even let them cross or it would be in the back of the net.

each year the new game takes a bit of getting used too.... however i can see major flaws in pes2012, mainly the dribbleing is way too easy, and i can see the easiest way to score is rounding the keeper, this way u score everytime, in pes2011 u were rewarded with crisp passing and 1 twos cutting thru the defence, all that seems to have gone out the window this year, u simply run and dribble past 5 defenders with ease and then round the keeper to score, it will create high scoreing matches but i am bored with it already, which is a 1st for me playing pes

I was starting to think the game was crap...but now i realise, the whole reason this was, was because i couldn't tackle or get the ball properly. Figured it out now and the game seems alot more enjoyable...online also

I have been playing Pro Evo/ISS since the days of ISS Duluxe on the Mega Drive and I think this game is up there with the best of them

This is by far the best FOOTBALL (the next person who calls it soccer and claims to be a true football fan, I'm gonna scream!) game to have come on the new gen consoles.

if you know how to defend it is not actually that different from previous pro games, and if you wanna stop crosses use the R2 (PS3) run to square up to players. one major difference is that you can no-longer be cheap and just knock a player off balance and run off with the ball - just incase you didn't realise thats a foul in REAL football! Another difference is you actually have to aim and time your slides - how shocking that in a football game where you want realism you have to think like real footballer and slide at time that makes sense and you have a chance to get the ball

for attacking I don't understand how anyone can say the shooting is bad......you have to judge player position, power, angle to the goal, left/right foot etc etc...just like REAL players do in REAL life. The free kicks are better than they have been since Pro Evo 2 and penalties finally make sense again.

I admit that running does feel very smooth when playing with Messi or CRonaldo but they are the best two players at running with the ball in the world so you would expect this to be the case. What I dont understand is people complaining that they run through their defence too easily......if you can't stop them you're just not good at defending......accept it and try and improve. I dont use Barca as they are the only team I can gaurantee to beat online 80% of the time (this is because idiots just run with Messi all day and you don't have to worry about them being able to actually play football agaisnt you.)

The online has GREATLY improved with lag and the like but I notice that hardly anyone has bothered mentioning this!?!? Also nobody has mentioned the hugely improved features for selecting players while defending!?!? the improvement in your players not 'homing in' on the ball and alowing you to control their run up to the ball!?!? How about the fact that you can actually take a throw in now!?!?

I readily admit that the new game plan menu does feel like your about to launch the starship enterprise, but does this really matter?? and I admit the online still could do with some improvement in terms of 'an error has occurred' but we all know that if Konami had EAs money and servers this would not be a problem.

At the end of the day this is, IMO, the best football game available at the moment (don't bother bringing FIFA up! I'm not 10years old).

To those who say that NBA games or NFL games are better.....I am an avid Basketball player and used to coach, I also have frienbds who watch a hell of a lot of NFL....they are two much easier sports to translate to gaming consoles due to the fact they don't have to waste memeory or processes on adding the same amount of players. They both only have American leagues. Also NFL games are basically turn based and Basketball games don't require weather or the same amount of players on the pitch/court.

Oh and to the absolute idiot who said this game will be down to £20 in two weeks because no-one will buy it....try and find a copy in a shop in central London!!! dick!

Please please please will someone tell me that this game becomes enjoyable? I've only just bought it today, and the thought of trading it in has already gone through my head!
I've played PES/ISS for donkeys years, but this has been the first one to fill me with such rage on my first bloody day!
So many problems with this game.

-The ball physics are waaaaaaaaaaay too floaty, and the shooting is crap, and I will ignore anyone who says otherwise because they've clearly never seen a real football match. I'd like to slap the bloke at Konami who was satisfied with this!

-Players running on to passes is a major problem for me, with the whole thing being automated. This becomes an even bigger problem when the opposition tries to play a through ball through the centre of your defence. There's been several occasions where my defender has just trotted alongside the ball whilst I'm desperately trying to get it.

-The scripting is just fucking ridiculous! I've only played exhibition games so far, but I've seen every AI goal coming a mile off!

Usually with PES and me (especially recent versions), I start off really liking it, and my love will fade over time. This year, I've started off hating it and feel like I've wasted 30-odd quid.

this is the first reason why i posted this thread, to tell you the people who did not buy it, not to buy it because this is how i felt at the very first day in october 14th as well... you made the mistake dude, now fuck the money but then yet again we dont have a football game this year... like all the other years acutally..

you cannot transform an orange into an apple... maybe you can imagine it tastes like one but it actually does not... this game is not football, changing speeds and settings will not change this fact... throw it in the garbage!!! this is where it belongs

Fun is relative...

What I am realizing is that THIS IS A TURN BASED GAME. When your opponent does something, the other player is locked into an animation; and vice versa. That's why they keep coming up with lame ass gimmicks to make you feel like you are doing something.

That's why you can score a goal 99% of the time on a cross or a chipped through ball. The game is so scripted you are locked into an animation for 5-7 seconds sometimes.

The only thing you are doing in this game is allowing konami to lock you on to their predetermined pass/shot/block/tackle animation.

The user has very little control in all of the mechanisms during play; this is even more magnified when goal scoring opportunities are present.

The evidence is everywhere. Through balls (chipped and ground), crosses (especially corner kicks), assisted passes (you are standing where someone wants to pass; he passes and you stick out your leg or some other stupid shit. You have pressed no button, yet the game does something for you at the time when the other player did something-----if that makes any sense).

IMO:

If you want a realistic representation and freedom, this is not the game for you.

If you like arcadey, video representations of football, this is a good choice.

I do not think my opinion is fact nor did I claim it was, in fact I know it cannot be fact by virtue of being an opinion. I will point out that virtually no-one has qualified wht they are saying as opinion although I did.

I may seem angry or to just be bashing peopel on this thread, but I'm saying this because I beleive it is an absolute joke that 1 week into the release of this game people are bashing it so hard, while at the same time admiting there is nothing better out there.

Most of the issues mentioned can be fixed with a simple update (as the never-failing overhead flicks of last year were) but nobody mentions that.

If peopel have hated pro for so long.....STOP GIVING KONAMI YOUR MONEY. Its not really a hard choice/decision. I think it is important to have criticisim but thats not what this is....people are simply saying it's crap and theres no fix - thats bollocks.

In terms of the game going down in price, I think you'll find that it's gonna be while before it comes down that much unless your talking about the PC or PS2 versions.
