Double Post Automerging

I have just installed a plug-in which will automatically merge any consecutive posts made by a user within two hours of their previous post. The thread will be bumped to the time of the most recent post.

All admins and moderators are hereby instructed to book for double posting only if the plug-in is not doing its job for the two-hour timeframe.

The previous rule on double posting ran for four hours. The plug-in timeframe will be increased to mirror this if necessary but admins will no longer book for consecutive posts made after more than two hours.

PES area mods (Baddar, Pategato, Trevi), can you please ensure you update the threads about forum rules in the PES areas - I believe Baddar made one in the PES 2009 Discussions area and one in the PES 2010 Discussions area. Either remove all mention of double posts incurring a booking or provide a link to this thread.

However, all admins and mods should warn users who continually bump a thread and book them or even ban them for 24 hours if they fail to heed their warning.

Please report any strange incidents including consecutive posts after longer than two hours being merged or posts not being merged at all, to me via PM.

Although I must say, over the last couple of weeks I've been merging posts instead of booking for double posting, just to make my life a little easier. >_>

All good and well (not really but whatever) but if any member who got booked for double posting asks why you didn't do that for them, you've no defence whatsoever. A bit like the Manchester derby :>

I removed it ages ago Berry. It was contributing to that oddity of a post being duplicated three or four times (and not showing up as the most recent post in a thread until the duplicates were removed). I believe that's why Hitman previously disabled it during his reign.

That's fine, we don't book for it these days unless its a clear case of someone not bothering to edit their post repeatedly. Regulars would therefore have nothing to worry about.
