EDIT - Cheers Flick, I had a go earlier and managed to pick two locks. Took me about ten tries though. :faceplm:

Not just when you're evil. The fuckers come after you when your good as well. The annoying thing is your bounty never seems to go up though. Every bunch i've wasted carries the same warrant for 1000 caps. Odd.

Or a fully repaired shotgun works wonders at close range... I tend to pick them off from a distance with Ol' Painless.

Just a tip for anyone struggling with hacking terminals... As well as the words, there are also sections that highlight (anything from 2 to 8 or more) random characters. If you select these they will remove a word from the text. Usually one will also replenish your 'tries' blocks.

Trick is to pick 3 words, then scan text to remove duds & replenish. Should leave you with fewer option & make working out the password easier.

Anyone come across Regulators? From an auto-save I travelled to the little structure near the robot facility and came across them. Upon dying a painful death due to me being silly, I loaded back and they were replaced by a band of five or six raiders, some of whom were beating another raider who joined them in their fight against me. Kept loading back last night but the Regulators didn't show up again.

Haven't done much so far: the robot facility, Family and Lucy West quests, blew up Megaton to get into Tenpenny Tower. I'm "very evil" and my reputation has dropped below "opportunitist". Not entirely sure why I'm very evil when I steal stuff from people but haven't killed anyone. That said, Tenpenny and Mister Burke will die at some point, I only blew up Megaton to get the room in Tenpenny Tower.

*spoiler* (highlight the post):

There is a mission to assassinate Tenpenny later in the game which is why I haven't killed him yet.

No problems mate, just glad you're enjoying it. Any other issues then let me know & I'll assist if I can.

Anyone come across Regulators?

Not yet! I've done quite a lot of the non story missions & only just visited Rivet City as part of the main story.

I have both the place in Megaton (I wasn't despotic enough to blow up Megaton!) & a room in Tenpenny tower, although it won't let me in yet...

**Spoiler**
You can complete a seperate mission to eliminate Tenpenny from a Ghoul in Underworld. It's best to let a group of local Ghouls along with their ferals into the building to kill everyone. It saves you from being too evil, but then you can pick the bodies clean of loot & weapons. You'll end up with a good stash by the end. Oh, and as a bonus, the leader of the Ghouls will give you a Ghoul mask so you can walk past ferals in without them attacking you. Looks pretty funky too!

**End of spoiler**

In the Museum of History in DC. Through the doors in the Skull...

Where's the museum? Right, I clearly need to do some missions instead of stealing things from people. Haven't even been to the Super-Dooper Mart yet. Should ideally go there and then to Rivet City.

What are people's views on this game compared to Oblivion? (Obviously to those who have played/owned both)

I'll probably pick it up when it's slightly cheaper early next year.

Sening you a PM with the DC area map locations... save spoiling for others...

I actually prefer this to Oblivion. I can't pin it down to just one thing though. Bethseda have taken all the best bits of Oblivion & tweaked them nicely. Don't get me wrong, it's far from perfect, but it's the best RPG lite on the market, certainly for consoles.

Oblivion had some amazing features - and some stupid things. Fallout is an improvement, I'm just hoping another big step is taken with the next Elder Scrolls game - including mounted combat and better animations.

Cheers for the PM once you send it fick.

If I do not enjoy RPGs in general (I could not get the hang of Final Fantasy) does it mean I shouldn't bother with this?

It's not an RPG in the true sense of the word. It's more a free roaming FPS with light elements of RPG character building.

The RPG part is very easy & doesn't involve reams of stats. The actual fighting is just your standard FPS fare. The much lauded VATS's system effectively just freezes the screen so you can easily target individual body parts. You can play the game without using it if you prefer, but it is bloody handy at times.

I'm biased as I love the game, but I'd still say get it. If you're not sure, then get pre-owned or rent first.

Just avoid the PS3 version. the Xbox one is better graphically & will have additional downloadable content in the future.
