Thanks Fick, I only have a PS3 is it that bad? I'm not too perturbed about the DLC just want a game that will keep me occupied over the holiday season and Fallout seems cool

Don't get me wrong, it's not bad as in terrible. It's just another lazy port which has suffered in quality in comparison to the 360 version.

If I only had a PS, I would still have gotten it ;)

It still got plenty of 9/10s and 10/10s from reviews, so obviously the bugs can't be that bad.

What are people's views on this game compared to Oblivion? (Obviously to those who have played/owned both)

I'll probably pick it up when it's slightly cheaper early next year.

I think oblivions better....This is based on how short the main quest is in fallout. Plus the ending was shit for fallout...

I do love both games though...

True, the main story might be short, but the multitude of side quests make up for it. They are no where near as repetative as Oblivions either...

Wait...
Roughly, how long is the game in general, included all these quest things your on about. I've never played Oblivion, but I'm interested in getting something that isn't over in less than 10 hours.

Supposedly around 100hrs. Although 30h of those are travelling time, 20h are fighting, 10h wasted listening to whinging survivors and 10 minutes wondering why after paying for sex, all the bitch does is just lie in the bed next to you.

My estimate, without fucking around too much (like a certain thieving criminal on this thread ;) ) is around 30-40 hours. Travel everywhere on foot, re-visit to use text options & open everything, then the review estimate of 100hrs is acheivable.

I plan on making Fallout 3 an addition to my selection of console games. I own a PS3, but, so long as the differences between the PS3 version and the 360/PC are only in relation to graphics, and downloadable content, I won't be too bothered.

I have one question, though. In Oblivion, enemies levelled up with the player character, meaning they were always a challenge no matter where you travelled at any given stage. Is this the same with Fallout 3? I wasn't a huge fan of the levelling system in Oblivion, because if you level your major skills too quickly (which I did) your character class goes up sooner than one may wish. I soon became extremely under-powered against enemies, even boars, and bears, due to my character class rocketing. I had to delete that character (a Nightblade) and start over (with a custom character, based on a Nightblade), after reading a guide on how to control major (and minor) skills to your advantage so to hold sway over when your character class increases. I'd rather not have to do the same with Fallout 3. I'm all for depth, but I'd rather a more linear levelling sytem.

Wait...
I gave in and bought this today. I've just escaped the vault but...

SPOILER:

...I feel a little bad because after trying to be a good guy all throughout the start of the game, I've ended up killing a load of guards and Amatas dad in a white hot flash of fury with the gun she gave me. She wouldn't even look at me as I made my way out of the vault. :crymore:
I hope our paths meet again so I can apologize properly. :(

 I was the same, although I managed to stay a good guy for a little longer than you did. I imagine it's pretty difficult to stay good all of the way through the game.

I finished this game today. Pretty dissapointed that it finished like it did, I should of done a lot more of the side missions, but the anticipation of how the game ends was killing me!

Anyway, I think it is a wicked game. So much variety.

In terms of good or bad karma, that is messed up. It's so hard to stay good, I tried to, but ended up as 'Very Evil' or something. Though I did blow up Megaton... lol. For those who haven't played it, try stay good that way you can bring people/things with you on the way.

I'm gonna start a new game and try it differently this time :)

I have one question, though...

Levelling system is better. Enemies still level up with you, but a gun is a gun. You can get a fully repaired A1 gun as early as you can afford it. Up to you how you play.

You can still have 'company'. just different people...

Awesome.

Now let's see how long I can wait in my bid to get it for £30 or thereabouts in a deal of the week offer! I don't think I'll make it more than another week! Far Cry 2 was the deal of the week (just gone) there. £27.99. I should've got it!

I found the first FarCry and Crysis as well to be pretty boring to be honest. Well, I did like Crysis at some point, but that was short lived - I couldn't back up my save files and I couldn't be bothered playing it all for then nth time. :\

On topic:
I need some advice on the creation of characters, appearance wise. Any tips?

(I'm playing on PC)

Thanks!

Am I the only one who finds this gaem quite difficult? Normally I'm OK with games but on this my health is abysmal and I'm a level 4 or 5 and Mutants always destroy me. Is it just a case of levelling up and finding better armour?
