I haven't played that far but I've killed the guy who usually sits in Moriarty's Saloon after he killed the sheriff. I'm talking about the guy who would pay you to blow up the town. Good move? I feel sort of guilty the sheriff died. :'[

there's just so much to do in this game looking forward to seeing how different i can make things on my second play through though i haven't finished my first yet. found some prototype medical power armor yesterday it talks to you with saying like suck it up and get in there before automatically injecting you with the appropriate stims for the battle ahead and other saying like time to kick some ass.

found the armor in a place called old olney (round the top right of the map) well the sewer actually they can be found by exploring the city a little. a word of warning though the place and sewers is filled with death claws huge scary looking monsters who will rip you apart in a few swipes id recommend finding the crashed ufo and getting the alien pistol before going any where near the place though and if you have dog meat with you leave him at a safe distance he stands no chance against the d/claws there's also a fat man in good condition and Chinese assault rifle knocking about.

This DLC actually sounds great. A change of scenery is always good. I still have a long way to go before I've finished the main game first, but I'll definitely be picking this up.

Currently joint with GTA 4 for my game of the year too.

Looking forward to these. The main reason I went for the Xbox version was for the future DLC. Looks like it's not going to disappoint! Nice find Dan.

PS3 Patch Released

Q: What is fixed in the 1.1 update for Fallout 3 for Playstation 3?

A: Trophy support.

Friends notification no longer causes the game to pause.

In game radios will now play properly if player was listening to the radio in the Pip-Boy first.

Q: In the PS3 version of Fallout 3, when I sit down to take the GOAT, I cannot do anything. My controls are locked

A: This is an issue corrected in the 1.1 update for Fallout 3 for Playstation 3. Make sure you have the update installed, and load a save from before you attempted to take the GOAT test.

Q: I downloaded the 1.1 update for my Playstation 3 version of Fallout 3. Are the trophies retroactive (will they apply to my current saves)?

A: No, Sony doesn't allow for offline trophies to be applied retroactively in order to prevent cheating from downloaded saves.

It's great to see that trophy support has been added to the game, because I for one am a big fan of the trophy system.

I'm a tad shocked that trophies were not made to be retroactive, but I understand the reasoning. Still, that will no doubt be of huge irritation to gamers who have played quite far into/completed the game, and have no desire to do so, again, yet want the tophies to show their achievements. I'm lucky in that respect, as I have only missed out on a handful of early-game trophies that can be gotton very quickly upon beginning a new game. But for someone towards the mid-game, nevermind end-game...

Is this game worth getting? The trophy compatibility definately makes it more tempting. Could people who have the game tell me their opinions? Is there an online mode on it?

Is this game worth getting?

I think it's a game that everyone can enjoy on one level or another. It's an engrossing game, with a great deal of freedom in what to do, where to explore, and how to develop your character. Stealth? Tank? Hand to Hand? You choose. Good? Evil? Nuetral? You choose. Explore all possible areas? Stick to the main quest? Somewhere inbetween? You choose. Go it alone? Take a companion? Enlist the aid of Dogmeat? You choose. Talk your way out of certain situations? Or unleesh holy hell on anyone who gets in your way? It really is a game to be played as you wish to play it, and a game that seems to balance the strength of these options out quite well.

What it is not, is a first person shooter, as some have mistakenly assumed due to the mainstream trailer showcasing a lot of gun battles, as well as the V.A.T.S. targeting system. Many who bought it expecting a game in a similar vein to Bioshock, or Far Cry 2, were left disgruntled upon the discovery that Fallout 3 is an action/adventure game, with a light dusting of user friendly RPG elements, that comes with two in-game camera angles, third person, and first person.

The game has a great atmosphere. You can be walking down what seems to be an abandoned, derelict area, only to catch sudden movement out of the corner of your eye, or what you thought was movement, or be stopped in your tracks by the sound of far off gunfire, and explosions.

The choices to be made in combat can be decisive to not only victory, but also to how much ammo must be spent, and how much of your health may be lost. Do you go for the headshot to end it as quickly as possible? Do you cripple their legs to slow their movement? Do you cripple their arms to limit, or remove altogether, their attack? Do you lob in a few grenades to reduce the number of enemies in a crowd? Or do you place a few mines and then pick a few off with headshots, drawing the others to your position, and straight into the previously laid mines? It's great!

Wait...
I fear I'm almost near the end of the main quest, so I think I'll try and explore the wasteland and try and find all the sidequests. It's been a terrific game so far, very engrossing. Probably my favourite game of 2008 afterall.

BELIEVE
I've been in love with this game also, the more I explore and the further I delve, the more I just want to continue playing. I've racked up exactly 17 hours believe it or not since getting it for Christmas, and I'm yet to fully complete a main quest yet. I've done a hell of a lot of wandering and I'm currently at Level 5 I think for my character and I've leaned more towards choosing perks related to speech, bartering and science etc.

I'm trying to play the game out in a friendly manner and attempting to gain good karma where possible by running errands for some people. However if I see a big opportunity to benefit myself, I'll do so and this was demonstrated when instead of just doing business with a scavenger by a dockside, I shot him in the back of the head and watched him flop face first into the river before proceeding to steal him of everything, including his wet clothes. That is the beauty of the game, one moment I want to be as helpful and talkative to people, then the next nothing is going through my head but every man for himself, dog eat dog (literally sometimes).

Smashing game and fast becoming my favourite of 2008.

You sly backstabbing bastard.

Seriously, what a great game that is. My copy is facing serious (crashes a lot) issues. I'll need to get another one at some point.

"Fallout 3 is a special videogame. It's an open-world role-playing game that delivers an experience unlike anything on the market right now. It's a gripping and expansive showcase of how much depth and excitement can be packed into one videogame, and it does justice to the Fallout franchise. This sequel is the first made by Bethesda, the developers responsible for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. You don't need to play any of their past games or any previous Fallout games to enjoy this one. It stands on its own as a memorable and well-crafted videogame." (IGN)

I've never played Oblivion before, and never really enjoyed an RPG before, but Fallout 3 is fast becoming one of my favourite single player games ever. It's very immersive and the more you actually play the game, the better it becomes. It is a very well thought-out game and definetely in-depth with things such as the Pip-Boy 3000 which is a super device which you keep equipped on your arm at all times. It is used for absolutely everything, storing weapons, apparel, ammo amongst other things like a map, quests and even shows you the damage you've sustained to specific limbs. A stats and level-up system is used to enhance your character as you progress. You start at level 1 and gain XP for completing tasks and minor things like killing creatures, lockpicking etc. There is perks which really make the game that much more exciting and in-depth, these parks help upgrade your stats.

The world is so enthralling, and you can really feel a difference during the different times of days. When it becomes night, you become unconsciously more aware of your surroundings. It's the uncertainty within the environments and enemies that make it so playable as well, ultimately it is the complete package. Not to mention the downloadable content will further enhance the game with what appears to be a completely new environment. It is the total package as a game, it's a multi-genre game and ticks all the boxes. Considering it's only about £25 new, it's a must.
