Of course it's fucking paid for. You think any unbiased unpaid person is going to give that piece of shit 9.5 overall rating?

Every year it's the same score and always in the summary they gloat how great the graphics, presentation and stadiums are, yet every year it plays like air thin garbage that has no depth but that doesn't matter so long as it looks good while you play and caters towards the superficial bastards that don't want to think.

All the new features are nothing more than pretty gimmicks that when played offer no real use except to make it look more realistic on the service. Also the user has no real incentive to use the new jokey/contain system because pressing x to pressure your opponent is just as effective.

Or maybe the reviewer just really enjoyed the game?

I have only played the demo so i'm not going to say whether it deserves/ doesn't deserve the score until i've actually pumped some time into it.

Yeah and maybe I'm from Mars

That does explain the hip clothing from another planet.

Jonno does have a point though. You are making a decision based on your opinion, without actually playing the 'finished' version, inclusive of all it's modes. Some might describe you therefore as a PES fanboy...

Not me though. I think you're perfect, obviously.

I'd rather pay for a slightly improved copy of FIFA 11 than any recent PES, which appears to take steps backwards.

And before you cry, I used to be a PES fanboy, but it's just become shit.

I may be a PES fanboy, however I don't get paid to crow about how great pes is while dimissing fifa. I will call it as I see it or rather play it. There's been versions of PES that I've played that have made me sick. However besides fifa10 every version has been disgusting, yet every year people fall for it's charm and hype.

These reviews don't help matters, where it only lists how great it is without announcing the fundamental flaws.

I'm glad fifa is stepped up but it is still lacking in terms of realism, but hey don't worry it will sell millions of copies and it will have all the official commentators, kits, badges, everything to make it look like the real thing.

if people want to get robbed out of their money, they can do so. However I'll be weary of getting giddy reading some guy's review who was no doubt handsomely paid for his troubles of having to write what he most probably doesn't genuinely believe.

Which is a good job really. imagine how super you'd be then!?!

Seriously though, you cannot have a go at IGN claiming they are FIFA biased. They reviewed PES 2008 which was quite frankly a huge pile of shite and gave it 9.2 out of 10. You pay's your money... well, you know the rest.

 Why would I cry just because you don't like PES anymore?

What you mean is, is that's it's just become too difficult for your brain to get to grips with rather than it becoming shit.

It's alright that you want a nice easier game where you don't have to think. Just win every game, after all that's why you follow United right? Just don't pretend that you're moving on to something better.

Same thing, konami must of paid them during that time to get that review out of IGN for 2008.

At least it'll be in topic for once!

We've all been where RR is, defending PES and claiming it to be superior to FIFA.

Alright here's something you can do for me, to prove that you didn't just jump on the bandwagon when all your mates decided to play fifa instead of PES.

What in fifa exactly is superior to PES in your opinion? And please try and go into more than just the licences and nice colorful graphics and let's see how you do and then I'll tell you in no uncertain terms why PES is far greater than that piece of garbage you cherish.

It's possible, yes. But if Konami stopped paying for good reviews of their recent un-evolution releases, then perhaps they could have afforded a few more licences to attract the FIFA fans back...? Just putting it out there.

2008 - Fast, crap. 2009 - 2008 with a 'slight' improvement, but no feel. 2010 - Rigid, lacked the gameplay flow. 2011 - Never played. Lost love.

FIFA 2009 + 10 had a better career mode. 2011 I got to play offline.

Basically 777, for me the series lost the spark it had prior to coming to this new generation console. I cannot put a finger on it specifically, but If I play 5 or 6, it still just feels better, even though it now looks really crappy.

I agree with this. PES used to have a 'personality' so to speak but the last few have been dire to say the least. Not enjoyable in any way. Having said that, I didn't hate the recent demo. Still not quite there imo, mind.

Fifa is by no means, spectacular but it is the most enjoyable football game out there at the moment. It feels more realistic, and playable then the current PES games. Fifa 12 hasn't impressed me so far though, so I might give both a miss. Depends on money and how my savings are going, plus I'm going away in a few months and won't have a ps3.

Are there any threads you don't troll and take over?

I was playing ISS/PES rather than FIFA for 15 years, so if I was going to jump bandwagon I think I would have done so a lot earlier.

PES feels a chore to play, whilst FIFA I find enjoyable. I have nothing against PES players, but there's no need to bash a game just because it's a rival. BF players bash CoD for the sake of it, when if you like one game over another then get on with it, simple as.

PES always had its gameplay over FIFA, but FIFA has, over the last few years, caught up and arguably surpassed PES in that department.

I will admit that PES5 was the best football game I've ever played; so much so I bought the old Xbox version to play on the 360.

Those are my feelings exactly towards those earlier builds on the PS3.

I was about to give up hope and stop giving my time, energy and money to konami after 2010 which was just a mockery of the game of football. 2009 was good fun though not perfect. 08, words can't describe how horrible that game was.

However you sold yourself short there unfortunately by not choosing to play PES11. Though not perfect, it clearly made the step up in going in the right direction to making the game a more realistic stimulation rather than an arcade ping pong fest like it's predecessors. The manual passing gave the game a new dimisension in allowing the player to finally being able to place a pass where ever one desired. Added to that you had more fluid animations where the players didn't feel like they're were robots on rails so much. With pes12 that feeling is completely gone and has gone even further in building on PES11 which is too be expected obviously, but as we've often see so much in the past, where konami have added new features but then at the same time decided to take other good things out and have more new bugs. That doesn't seem to be the case this year.

Then you have online master league to present even more of a challenge, that provides a much more enjoyable game than fifa11. Which I felt didn't improve much on fifa10 except it had more bugs and the gameplay became even more repetitive. You could easily score the same goals again and again, using the exact same methods and exploits.

Fifa12 you will soon, find will be no better. I've already learned how to score at will at the game and that should tell you something.

I never bought FIFA 10 or 11 (I rented/borrowed), only 09, so buying 12 will be a good thing for me (I think). I haven't been awesome at footy games since the previous gen of PES games, so hopefully won't find myself mastering scoring for quite sone time.

PES used to have decent passing PES 6 & prior. Why should I have to wait until now for it again? Don't give a toss about animation & gloss. ISS was frankly laughable, but it played well and that's what I'm after.

Two of the big draws with FIFA10/11 for me were the Manager mode, which actually allowed you to move between teams, shock horror. One of PES's biggest fuck-ups with the ML. Also, the sheer number of teams/leagues is a big draw too. I haven't the time for a full on footy manager game, but the FIFA-lite management in 10/11 actually allows me to do that, plus I can actually control the game if I want.

I've seen some of the new ML/life or whatever it's called and frankly I'm in two minds. It looks like a decent step in the right direction, but how much gimmick will it be? Will it end up just being annoying and overcomplicating things for the casual manager?

Remains to be seen I guess.

Konami fucked up and rested on your laurels but the shit hit the fan after pes10 where many where sick and tired of patched up versions of the previous game.

They clearly listened to the bad reviews and poor sells which they suffered for and finally stepped up

Yes fifa, has all the official leagues, names, and licences, but I don't play pro or fifa for management and changing jobs halfway through a season. That's what football manager is for

I just like a game that resembles a real life game of football, where you use tactics and strategies to your advantage to out play the opposition. Also where I can tell the difference between players on the pitch in terms of their abilities and use it to my advantage.

You can't use individuality and strategies to your advantage on fifa. You just pass it around, do a few one twos and you're through on goal, If you want to defend just pressure or barge/wrestle into players to knock them off the ball.

And I'm sure you've seen the circus free style party tricks you can pull off at will in fifa right?
