why so?
Or maybe the reviewer just really enjoyed the game?
I have only played the demo so i'm not going to say whether it deserves/ doesn't deserve the score until i've actually pumped some time into it.
Yeah and maybe I'm from Mars
Of course it's fucking paid for. You think any unbiased unpaid person is going to give that piece of shit 9.5 overall rating?
Every year it's the same score and always in the summary they gloat how great the graphics, presentation and stadiums are, yet every year it plays like air thin garbage that has no depth but that doesn't matter so long as it looks good while you play and caters towards the superficial bastards that don't want to think.
All the new features are nothing more than pretty gimmicks that when played offer no real use except to make it look more realistic on the service. Also the user has no real incentive to use the new jokey/contain system because pressing x to pressure your opponent is just as effective.
That does explain the hip clothing from another planet.
Jonno does have a point though. You are making a decision based on your opinion, without actually playing the 'finished' version, inclusive of all it's modes. Some might describe you therefore as a PES fanboy...
Not me though. I think you're perfect, obviously.
I may be a PES fanboy, however I don't get paid to crow about how great pes is while dimissing fifa
I'd rather pay for a slightly improved copy of FIFA 11 than any recent PES, which appears to take steps backwards.
And before you cry, I used to be a PES fanboy, but it's just become shit.
Which is a good job really. imagine how super you'd be then!?!
Seriously though, you cannot have a go at IGN claiming they are FIFA biased. They reviewed PES 2008 which was quite frankly a huge pile of shite and gave it 9.2 out of 10. You pay's your money... well, you know the rest.
At least it'll be in topic for once!
We've all been where RR is, defending PES and claiming it to be superior to FIFA.
Same thing, konami must of paid them during that time to get that review out of IGN for 2008.
What in fifa exactly is superior to PES in your opinion? And please try and go into more than just the licences and nice colorful graphics and let's see how you do and then I'll tell you in no uncertain terms why PES is far greater than that piece of garbage you cherish.
It's possible, yes. But if Konami stopped paying for good reviews of their recent un-evolution releases, then perhaps they could have afforded a few more licences to attract the FIFA fans back...? Just putting it out there.
2008 - Fast, crap. 2009 - 2008 with a 'slight' improvement, but no feel. 2010 - Rigid, lacked the gameplay flow. 2011 - Never played. Lost love.
FIFA 2009 + 10 had a better career mode. 2011 I got to play offline.
Basically 777, for me the series lost the spark it had prior to coming to this new generation console. I cannot put a finger on it specifically, but If I play 5 or 6, it still just feels better, even though it now looks really crappy.
Are there any threads you don't troll and take over?Alright here's something you can do for me, to prove that you didn't just jump on the bandwagon when all your mates decided to play fifa instead of PES.

I never bought FIFA 10 or 11 (I rented/borrowed), only 09, so buying 12 will be a good thing for me (I think). I haven't been awesome at footy games since the previous gen of PES games, so hopefully won't find myself mastering scoring for quite sone time.Fifa12 you will soon, find will be no better. I've already learned how to score at will at the game and that should tell you something.
However you sold yourself short there unfortunately by not choosing to play PES11. Though not perfect, it clearly made the step up in going in the right direction to making the game a more realistic stimulation rather than an arcade ping pong fest like it's predecessors. The manual passing gave the game a new dimisension in allowing the player to finally being able to place a pass where ever one desired. Added to that you had more fluid animations where the players didn't feel like they're were robots on rails so much. With pes12 that feeling is completely gone and has gone even further in building on PES11 which is too be expected obviously, but as we've often see so much in the past, where konami have added new features but then at the same time decided to take other good things out and have more new bugs. That doesn't seem to be the case this year.
Then you have online master league to present even more of a challenge, that provides a much more enjoyable game than fifa11. Which I felt didn't improve much on fifa10 except it had more bugs and the gameplay became even more repetitive. You could easily score the same goals again and again, using the exact same methods and exploits.

PES used to have decent passing PES 6 & prior. Why should I have to wait until now for it again? Don't give a toss about animation & gloss. ISS was frankly laughable, but it played well and that's what I'm after.
Two of the big draws with FIFA10/11 for me were the Manager mode, which actually allowed you to move between teams, shock horror. One of PES's biggest fuck-ups with the ML. Also, the sheer number of teams/leagues is a big draw too. I haven't the time for a full on footy manager game, but the FIFA-lite management in 10/11 actually allows me to do that, plus I can actually control the game if I want.
I've seen some of the new ML/life or whatever it's called and frankly I'm in two minds. It looks like a decent step in the right direction, but how much gimmick will it be? Will it end up just being annoying and overcomplicating things for the casual manager?
Remains to be seen I guess.
