Has anyone tried the Harvey Price button layout?

It's difficult to tackle, but maybe its just me getting used to the new system.

When you first play the game you can certainly tell there's a new feel to it. I also like the default view too. The interface and presentation is refreshing. Its simple, bold but interactive as well. And at the end of the match, the players have their real faces on in the player ratings menu.

I played 4 games so far and lost all on Legendary. My first game I picked Milan against Marseille and Pato got me 2 goals, but ended up losing 2-3. The others ended up in 2-0 defeats (yes I haven't scored a goal since my first game).

I like the fact that they finally changed the substitution animations, and when I scored a goal they zoomed into Pato's face so I thought it was a nice touch.

It's quite difficult to defend like I said and going forward is just as hard. I thought the same thing to myself in FIFA 11 but then I was still able to do those ping pong passes. Four games into this demo, I've tried doing it and only been successful once. I guess I can say I enjoy the fact that I've lost all my games, it means a good challenge for me.

Oh and the collision thing, its not that bad. Sometimes its exaggerated though. Once I had Silva tackle Valbuena mid air and Silva just spinned 360 before landing on the ground. But I feel its a decent addition because it brings a certain sense of realism. Much better than the previous editions at least.

And finally, in my third game against Barcelona, Messi, Xavi and Villa combined to score a beautiful goal. First coming from the middle, Messi dribbles past my two midfielders, passes it to Xavi who is slightly outside the box on the left side, he does a no-look pass (splits Nesta and Abate) on to the on-rushing Villa from the left who curls the ball into the corner of the goal. Beautiful.

I have enjoyed the game so far and I'm looking forward to playing it more. I'll also give the 2nd demo of PES a go and decide which one I'll purchase. But as it stands (I played the 1st demo of PES).. It's another FIFA year for me.

The new defense system is a joke. The game didnt need this. Precision dribbling is useless too.
Without these silly modifications, it would be a polished FIFA 11. Very disappointed.

I personally like the new defence system even though I'm fucking terrible at it. Even on professional difficulty I always concede. I think it's something I need to master then it will become brilliant. But it's all down to personal preference I guess.

I'm getting used to the new defensive system. I kept on testing myself against Barca on Legendary and yeah I lost like 2-0, 1-0 for like 6 games in a row, then my mate told me to try out this:

Hold LT & RT wait till you are right near the player with ball and press or hold B. It works too. I was able to hold out a 0-0 draw and beat them pens then in the next game, managed to beat them 1-0.

The more I play this game, the more I like it. The new defensive system makes the game that much more harder, which is good because FIFA 11 you could score at will, now you have to work at everything and be smart and for once outsmarting the AI is hard.

I've now put the difficulty on World Class (what I play on Fifa 11) and Im enjoying the game alot more, the AI are more attacking which means they make a few more mistakes. I'm also getting used to the tackling and Im starting to really like it, makes the game soo much more of a challenge. I just need to hold sprint alot less!

Playing on World Class is still a challenge. Also, last night. I couldn't explain how much I hated Messi. I went from absolutely admiring the guy to now hating him with a passion, he can seem to demolish my defensive single handed. Mind you, now I'm getting used to the defending, I am starting to contain him alot more. I have found that using Walcott is good to counter Barca seeing as he can outsprint anyone.

I'm game for that!

As other people said I'm still trying to get used to the new tackling system but I'm playing this as if I was playing Fifa 11 which is stupid because they feel so different! Fifa 12 is much more enjoyable and challenging! I did somehow manage to beat Barcelona 3-0 on World Class (play all my games on world class) but then again I was Man City.

I'm not sure I like the idea that scoring a finesse shot would still almost always result into a goal.

On a good note, I noticed that the goalkeepers have new, different animations in saving. And as a goalkeeper myself, it makes me happy.

I'll start a thread when I'm home tonight, likely after the United game.

Getting a mod involved would be decent, too, as we can get him to change the poll options each month.

Would there be specific rules? What if it was scored against Barnet on the lowest difficulty setting?

I'm sure there will be certain conditions to meet, such as difficulty setting, quality of opponent, CPU or human etc etc.

As the majority of people will be getting the game on the 30th, we may be able to sneak in a September GOTM based on goals only scored on that day ;)

Anyone had any injuries yet? I am playing as Arsenal and Djourou got tackled from behind and we played the advantage but as Walcott was running it up the wing the camera panned back to where he was lying in a heap on the floor holding his leg. The ref blew and the commentators starts saying something like 'it's definately serious..he's going to have to come off."

Then the menu pops up and it tells you what injury they have. Djourou sustained a Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury.

edit:

I just jizzed. Drop ball to continue play.

Cut backs will be the death of this game.

I like how fluid they have tried to make it. Like the quick throw ins.

Defending is very hard. It's all about patience now.
