What corner trick? :mellow:

I started a game with a newly-founded club in Serie B that had no players but £450m to spend on transfers and a high reputation. I wasn't interested in stop-gap players and couldn't get world beaters so started the season with just 21 players:

I've just hit January and made further signings but only have about £100m left. Javi Martinez was the pick of them for an astounding £30m and he'll regularly replace Marchisio. I'm obviously top of Serie B but only two points clear of rampant Parma who are led by Cristiano Lucarelli and his 30 league goals in 20 games.

Owen has only scored four goals (with seven assists), Inzaghi was useless in his first three games (average rating of 6.33 with no goals) until he got his act together, Kiessling has scored at a goal per game since joining and I keep dropping Pandev back into the attacking midfield role of my 4-1-2-1-2 when Rosina is tired.

Strangely the board have given me four seasons to win Serie A but want the Coppa Italia immediately. Lost 3-2 at Fiorentina in the third round before winning 1-0 at home but I've got Juventus next :huh:

The corner 'trick' is where you have a player without his crossing stat 17 and above, and set your corners to the near post, then, you get your best header of the ball, to be on the near post, and your second best to be infront of the keeper.

The corner taker crosses the ball in, and the player on the near post scores pretty much all the time. I've seen it on a few websites, but, never managed to successfully set it up.

I'll try and find a link for it in a bit.

Didn't know such a thing existed, I set my corner takers to aim for best header. Can't explain why Samba wins so many and scores so many. I'm sure I'll get my second season underway tonight so I'll report back tomorrow and see how he's getting on, it was a strange season though because after 14 games I was 12th having won just 2, AZ had won 12 and drawn 2, I had a switch around with tactics and beat Groningen 6-0, I never looked back and won the majority of my remaining games, it was bizarre.

Could anyone tell me how I go about making newly bought young players into those that count as 'home-grown at the club' type players? I'm playing in Spain so obviously four such players, but I only really have three that merit a place in my first team.

Is it as simple as just putting a new young player in the C team for a season then moving him up to the B team for a season afterwards? Can such a conversion even be done?

I think those ones have to play for your club for three or four years at youth level when under the age of 21 or something similar to that. Can't search for the specifics at the moment I'm afraid.

That's what I thought but when I needed an extra home-grown player for my Champions League squad I could include a 20-year old French defender who I'd signed just the previous year. And he had been with Bordeaux (I think it was) his whole career.

Then again, Rooney supposedly had a spell with Beijing so it could have been playing tricks on me again. :(

EDIT: This included 3 hat-tricks, one within 15 minutes and one was part of a 4 goal haul :shocking:

So over the weekend I finished my second season.

Samba managed 33 in 52 games. Mental. I don't get it.

Plus, I checked what Nick said and there are no special instructions for set pieces. Fuck knows whats going on. Plus when I rest him for the cup games my centre halves never seem to score :unsure:

He already has 15 in 15 this season too.

Only cost me £2.3m

Manchester United beat Sevilla 4-0 in a CL quarter-final first leg match. Sevilla have, just now, beaten United 7-2 in the second leg with six goals from Kanoute (two goals AND a missed penalty in injury time) to complete a 7-6 aggregate victory.

:huh:

EDIT: Oh and Sevilla also had an eighth goal and third in injury time disallowed for offside.
