The Football Manager 2012 PC and Mac demo is available to download now from Steam, Sega has announced.

You can play the first half of the 2011/2012 season and carry on your career when the game launches later this month.

The demo includes QuickStart leagues England, Scotland, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Australia.

The demo is only available on Steam. As revealed last month, to play Football Manager 2012, you need to authenticate through Valve's digital service.

Indeed any version of Football Manager 2012 bought on disc has to be activated through Steam.

Are you not able to play it until the release date? When you have the disc do you have to download anything from steam or is it simply a case of inputting an activation code then installing from the disc?

Contemplating whether to get it now or in the New Year :hmm:

I like the new additions in team talks, pre game talks and individual talks though. Also, the pre match game screens are a lot better.

All I did was input the activation code into steam and steam then notified me that I can't play until the release date. I've pre-loaded it though so all I have to do at 0:01am is just fire up the game and it should come straight on.

Nice, I might actually get this at some point then as I had previously thought that some downloading would be necessary which would be a pain for me as I have a download limit and a slow download speed. I won't buy it straight away though as I'll be plenty occupied by Arkham City and Fifa whilst thinking about getting PES and then in a month the new CoD will be arriving. I'll look forward to getting round to playing this though as I've not played the last 2 or 3 versions of the game.

It is happening again
I've not played a Football Manager game since the 08 version. I don't think I have the time for them anymore! I had an awesome team on 08 with Pompey. Bojan, Aaron Niguez (who was a beast on that game), Prudnikov, Sosnin, C Ronaldo (bought him when he was about 30!), Banega (who was in the England team.... MY England team), aswell as a few awesome regens (I think that's what they call them anyway).

Finally got this earlier this week. Started out with Plymouth Argyle in league 2, well over wage budget and no transfer budget. Managed to get the board to invest in youth system and increase wage budget. I had to sack one or two coaches to increase my wage budget and loaned out some youngsters from PL teams. Also had a gem of a player come through the youth system, was only 16 and was permantly in my starting XI.

Anyways, I did really well leading up to just after christmas, went 14 games undefeated (9 wins 5 draws). Then it all went to shit, struggled like hell for the last few months, literally couldn't buy a win but managed to hold onto automatic promotion place (3rd) but was 20 points off 1st place Swindon.

My first season in League one with Plymouth started out shit, getting 2 points from the first 6 games but then went on a 4 game winning streak to lift me out of the relegation zone. My average form continued into December when I got a job offer from Newcastle after they sacked Pulis (for some reason they hired Tony Pulis?!).

So now I am the manager at Newcastle who are 18th (PLD 17 14 points!!). So I have my work cut out for me starting with a visit from United.

No offense, but this game has become so easy that it hardly matters what you do as manager anymore. After two seasons I've won every possible trophy each year. Europa League, Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup the first season, and CL instead of Europa League, the Charity Shield and the UEFA Super Cup in the second season. I have bought no players, I did not even replace Adebayor after he returned to City.

It does not seem to matter who I play up front, whoever pairs up with Defoe gets tons of assists and goals from Defoe's rebounds. Defoe is a beast as usual in FM, a poacher without compare before the ultra unrealistic regens comes along.

4-4-2 flat, mixed short-ish passing, conservative counter attacking football with focus on possession. 2 losses and 3 draws, the rest wins in two seasons in PL. Including big wins against Man U, Barcelona, Inter and Juventus. Just pathetic...

I un-installed the game yesterday, never to be played again.

Thats not where the enjoyment comes from though, winning everything with an established team.

Try starting out a lower league team and see how you fare.

Get's boring when you become successful at the top level.
Nothing better than trying to fight your way up the leagues.

I've been a LLM for many years, but I always stake out the "end game" in FM before making a lasting career / journeyman save. This version of FM, while being the best at immersion, has a truly shallow tactical engine. Everything works it seems. I hardly notice any difference at all on the results when I juggle with strategies. I concede and score more or less the same amount of goals regardless if I play offensive or defensive football in this version. Believe me, FM has gone pure "kids stuff" again.

I'd like to add though, that over the course of two seasons with Spurs, I only lost points in the league against teams I should be steamrolling. Much like Spurs in real life in recent years... except so far this season.

:)

I would have been so on that offer if I didn't get the game of a mate two weeks ago. Enjoying this years version quite a lot. I suppose the reason for this is that I haven't played FM since last summer so I was in the mood.

Decided not to get it. Still play 11 (in like 2016 with my Chelsea game), so I'll just wait until 13.
