You guys are a bounch of crybabies, does pes12 vanilla suck? yes it does.

Does pes12 patched with jenkey/yair patches suck? no it plays much better.

These were only the first patches too, so try it with them instead of just deciding to quit and sell the game. Oh and if you play on PS3 its your problem lol, everyone knows PC offers alot more editability and such, and broken games like this are only worth playing on PC.

I had 12 fifa bought for me last week and ive been playing it heavily while waiting for pes 2012. i thought i'd give it a chance, unbiased etc. Ived hammered pes 2011 and i love the game, but the unresposive button press in mlo really pissed me off (never quite made it to division 2). After putting in the hours with fifa 12, i really dont understand the high ratings its recieved. Its a huge pile of shit and im glad it wasnt my money that paid for it. Ive gone back to the pes 2012 demo 2. This pes looks and plays awesome. apparently the keepers are going to be fixed (long range goals galore!). To me there is no contest.
I cannot believe some people are slagging this year's pes off.

This sounds exactly like my story...bring on the game!

I can't see myself buying PES2012 for the PS3. Every ounce of me wants to love the game and play it to death but I just don't get the same buzz with this PES as I have previous years. For me, its too polished, too FIFA-esque. I'll no doubt check out the PC version with the gameplay patches but I think my love affair with PES is over ... to be fair, I'm probably a bit old to be playing it anyhow

The more I play the game the more exposed I am to its problems. Catch up AI is back, scripted goals are back, bad goalkeepers are back, out of date rosters are back, a further lack of licensed teams are back, and the ability to use Copa Libertadores teams against European teams is totally absent.

I will never play FIFA, I can't stand it. FIFA has completely assimilated all of the best PES has come to offer over the last 12 years without any shame, but the fact of the matter is I am sick and tired of continually giving my money to Konami only to see a complete lack of effort in their finished product. As big a fan I am of Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo, even I was disparaged to see them included on the Corinthians roster almost a year after their departure. This is simply unacceptable.

There used to be a time when statistics mattered in PES. Now statistics are completely meaningless. Why include explosive power and speed stats when slow players can catch the fast ones all the same? Why change the shooting mechanics? I cannot tell you guys how many times I've had clear shots on net with Kaka or Neymar only to see the ball balloon harmlessly land into the keepers arms. And what is with the defensive AI? I play the game on either Professional or World Class settings and every team parks the bus.... Every team! On counter attacks the defensive AI regroups at almost light speed. Breaking down the defense at the top of the box is near impossible because they always have 10 men behind the ball.

The ball physics are also a joke. Whenever the AI takes the ball to the lines and I win the ball back on a challenge it always goes out, and they regain possession on a throw in. Whenever I line dribble for some reason the defensive AI always wins the ball back clean and I scrambling to prevent a massive counter attack. I can't tell you how many times the ball will pinball off my players and land in a cushioned fashion on an attacking player already in forward motion.

This game is simply broken. It is frustrating, and it is more importantly not fun. PES 2009 may have had limited animations, but at least you can counter the AI with one-two passes, long shots, and defensive organization. That game rewarded possession. In 2011 and 2012 possession means nothing. I was using Santos and was winning 1-0 against Jaguares. They had zero attempts on net. All of a sudden at around minute 50 the scripting kicks in and I get destroyed. None of my passes work, all of my shots on net are either straight at the keeper or harmless, and every time I lose the ball I am being counter attacked into oblivion.

For those that truly believe that they fixed the keepers with the last update, I call bullshit. All of a sudden all my shots became directed at the keepers. It isn't that they improved the keeper AI as much as they destroyed the shooting. Back to Winning Eleven 6 for me.

Well said.

Encore! I think I agree with every word...and the last paragraph is spot on.

Konami will always make this game with crippling problems, because once they don't people will not buy another game. PES 5/6 (or this) is as good as it's going to get...

I agree with the first post.I feel since next gen versions of the game, PES has been going in the wrong direction. I still put in winning eleven 9 and just have fun updating rosters and teams on my 360. It bugs me a lot the amount of issues with the new game but I will always buy PES to see if it will ever capture that great gameplay they once had.

It is unappreciative people who always complain like you guys that led Konami into this direction; even in those "glory" years of PES, fans were complaining. When their gameplay was near perfect and new iterations came out, it is people like you guys that said things like "same old same old", "same game as last year with minor tweaks", "WTF Konami, stop releasing the same game", "this gameplay needs to evolve", "Konami is stuck in the past", "Fifa is improving and updating every year while our PES is just staying the same", etc, etc. When the gameplay for PES was near flawless, fans still complained when they didn't fix what wasn't broke. Reviews didn't help out either as reviewers kept saying in a dismissive fashion "new year, same old PES gameplay" and things of that nature.

I too like to talk about the glory days and still yearn for the gameplay of those years; however unlike you guys, back in those days, I knew that I was playing the most beautiful sports simulation ever and I never wanted to change. In fact, I kept saying things like "next year, release the SAME GAME, just naturally improve the graphics, minor tweaks, have transfer updates, try to get more licenses, and work on good online play."

And I am not being an apologist for Konami as I currently cannot stand the whole R-stick dribbling notion, the removal of wingsbacks, the extremely frustrating and counterproductive removal of agility and shot technique stat(my biggest gripe of PES2012), the absolutely garbage form and condition system in MLO which completely ruins MLO, the fact that cheating is still possible online, the fact that I can't hold the pass button longer so that I could pass the ball to the person behind the designated player(maybe I just do not know how to do it), the light and a slightly floaty feel that players have, the mouse-arrow/player substitution menu, the fact that stats are divided up into four sections, and a few more that I currently cannot think of.

However, ever since Konami did decide to head into this 'updated' direction, PES 2012 is the best version of PES since those glory days in my opinion. I feel the game is very fun and realistic, and I just want to reiterate once again how much I appreciate the smooth online play.

Having said that, PES fans are very passionate about their games so I can understand their disappointments if it did not meet their specific expectations because I remember some previous PES games where fans defended them and really liked them while I thought that they were terrible. In fact, I skipped those games that I thought weren't up to par and kept playing older iterations those years so I do see where you guys are coming from even though we disagree. I am just glad that I actually enjoy this year's version as I know how it feels and how much it sucks to wait another year for a new PES game that hopefully I will sincerely enjoy without forcing or faking my affection for the game just because it is PES.

I've mainly played FIFA 11 for the past year. And the game was good, had alot of fun playing career and online. Then demo of FIFA 12 came out, and I downloaded it. Was expecting it to be even more fun. But it just dissapointed me, felt I was playing FIFA 11 again with slighty improved graphics and some new features like the drop ball. FIFA 10 was my first football game and it was pretty good too. FIFA 11 was even better, but after trying fifa 12 I decided to give the second PES demo a go. And I have to say its pretty impressive. Before I was never interrested in PES, never watched any gameplay of it on the internet, and none of my friends had the game. But this demo was great. There's a lack op animations, but who gives a shit? FIFA's impact engine fails aswell, tons of videos were uploaded at the release date, and 50% of it were impact fails!

The PES gameplay is a challenge for me, its more exciting. So the 14th october I will be playing PES all day long.

dont mind my grammar tnx

For me it's just interesting that people can be so different. It's amazing how one guy simply hates F**A and loves PES or the other way round.
Personally i'm pro pes - having only played a handfull of fifa games since the glory days of fifa 98 which was truely awesome. But then i started playing iss/winning eleven and i was captured. This year i'm struggling more than ever on top player and i really love the fact that there's even a superstar difficulty as well

God no, I rarely venture into the PES section of these forums as it is. I frequent the off topic section. I like to pop in (fnar fnar) occassionally and see whats going down (fnar fnar) in the PES sections.

why does every one keep on saying they removed the agility stat when they didn't. Anyway the shot technique stat should have been removed as it is hard to judge players on shot technique and technique can cover it tooo

Listen kid, based on several of your posts that I have read, you know absolutely nothing about any aspect of football. I am not saying that you have flawed and wrong knowledge of anything relating to football, what I am saying is that you do not have any knowledge at all. Maybe that is your shtick, to say the most ridiculous and asanine things for attention in order to try to overcompensate for your insecurity about your place in the football-video gaming universe. First you say there are no such things as wingbacks, and now you say more absolutely ignorant things. Shame on me for responding to you.

I never played pes 6, So to me its more or less a clean pes slate (apart from a few months of Pes 11). I take it that Konami will bring out a couple of gameplay fix patches and seeing as the games not even out yet in broken britain, I woulden't just start panicking yet!. You never know all your prayers may be answered..

PES6 is the golden age of PES, its a unquestionable classic ... a PES pinnacle ... the peak of perfection ... gone a bit downhill since then but then that is the chase for realism, PES6 was just a great footie sim.

After spending a couple of PES dedicated days I can now give my final verdict of the game.
KONAMI seem to have spotted the two most important things for me in PES series and took action by completely screwing it.

1. The hilarious game speed is a GAME-BREAKER for me as it is now unplayable on -2, my PES11 favorite speed. Its fast, its unrealistic and breaks down the mechanics of the gameplay.

2. The weird light feel I get when playing. It's like the players are skating on ice all the time and I can't get the same satisfying feeling with the ball that I used to have in previous versions.
FAIL.

I thought PES11 was shyte when I first played.

But, I tinkered with a few options (biggest one being putting all teams pressure down to 0 on sliders) did a bit of editing and didn't look back. Still playing the game now.

Roll on Friday.
