How long did you take to get used to PES5?

Just a quick question;
Why can no one dribble on PES5?

I find that absolutley no one can turn. Even Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho etc. No one can beat players.
It's getting annoying and a bit worrying.
I like the fact that you have to concentrate more. But it seems unrealistic that no one can dribble accuratley. Even the very best players.

Anyone found out how to tackle without fouling them yet, pisses me off, only lost 1 game out of 9 on 6* ML but still struggling.

It would appear to be impossible for either team to score.
Anyway. Please help with my original question.

Exactly my thoughts. I am on the ball with Robben on the wing against some shitty defender and want to take him on, instead of turning him with pace like Robben would he slowly switches direction. Pisses me off that I can't take players on with pace or dazzle em' with a sharp turn.

Thanks Sullivan but that doesn't realy help does it.

I agree ThE G. It is annoying because Henry, Robben, CRonaldo, Reyes etc all turn people on a regular basis. Robben in particular turns quickly. I hope there is a knack to this fucking game.

Got it on Tuesday and been playing it since. My first game was Arsenal vs Chelsea (me) on 5* and i won 2-1. To be honest i didn't really find it thaaat hard. I think the reason might be because i lent my pro 4 to a m8 for about 2 months and only got it back a week before pes5 came from Play. So i was playing pes3 and trust me, it is hard to score after being used to 4. And since i play with a defensive 4-5-1, i found it especially hard to score. So when playing pes 5, i was used to it already from playing pes3 (including the slow gameplay). I only played 3 games against CPU and dived straight into online play which i now play religiously until i am forced to stop because i can't feel my thumb.

Don't take the piss it's annoying. I actually did lose with Liverpool against Koln earlier, though now I'm wondering if I let myself lose on purpose. Sigh ;)

why does everyone keep complaining about taking people on those days are gone ! Dont get me wrong you can still turn them inside out it's just like every other release youv'e just got to get your timings perfect this time.

Trust me i only got it yesterday and im already doing crazy runs with Henry think of it like sex:D if u go too fast you just mess it all up
however if you take ur time and concentrate on what your'e doing then you have the best orgasm of your life:wub:

for everyone having problems try out the challenge training it will give you a general feel for it;)

But seriously i dont see the problem ur all having
i ran from my own half with Henry and scored the sweetest little chip:D

Um what level are you playing on? you must be some sort of PES gaming god to be able to do that already on 5 or 6*??? or have you been playing WE9 for ages before this???

I remember the first few days of PES4. I wondered whether Konami had gone too far in trying to be "real", the game felt wrong, and I thought I would be staying with PES3. A year later and I was still playing Pro 4 right up until PES5 came through the letterbox. Awesome game. The same I think will happen with 5, at the moment I'm not really enjoying it for the whole 90 mins, but soon it will be better than a sexual act.

i completely agree with what most people have been saying --
1. the game play is far too slow - you can't turn or slide past people without it taking forever to do so, by which time you've lost the ball.

2. The players control and touch of the ball is mostly awful! it seems everytime you pass the ball, your player will let it hit him and run on a few yards, letting the opponent steal it.

3. far far too many fouls are given away. you only have to look at someone and the ref blows his whistle.

4. it seems like the game is now about 'the midfield battle'. if you get attacks great, but ive spent about 40mins out of the 1st half in some matches just battling non stop backwards and forwards in the midfield. it all gets a bit repetative after a while and you cant be bothered to play beacuse its just not fun anymore!

Nah I was like that at first, actually felt a bit tired after a game where I was chasing after the ball in midfield for most of the game but when you slowly work out the shooting, passing system and timings for turning the defence its amazing!

Its now far more rewarding when scoring especially when you string about 10 -15 passes together like the Arsenal of last season would and slip it to Henry to slam one in. Just stunning!

Ive been playing pes5 now since its release and like everyone else i have found getting round players much more difficult, which in a way is good because you actually have to think stratigically, always thinking one pass ahead of the next, but in another it does slow the game down - like real football, which is excellent, the realism feels fantastic. my only gripe is that the master league, apart from its new look and minor improvements (regulate condition, estimated points when doing negotiations, which i think is great) the experience itself hasnt really changed, i was hoping for more details about my players, morale, interests in extending contracts etc.. but i guess theres only so much u can fit into a game? and also why have a selection of referees when they all react the same? and to be honest, i didnt really notice about the crowd not being in it as much, i think i was enjoying the cut scenes too much when the teams first come out and all wearing the official chelsea kit :-D and trev is back too....bless him. :)

I'm still not that used to it; getting tackled very easily when running with the ball. But I did beat Chelsea 8-1 with Arsenal (don't ask how but true: Hleb-4;Henry-3;Gilberto-1) on 5*. I believe it's because it is sooooo easy to score with certain teams once you have the ball. As soon as I unlock 6* I'm straight onto that. My advice is don't spend too much time on lower stars and build yourself up as you'll never get the knack of it. Go straight into the deep end at 5 or 6* stars!

BTW: THis was in a 30min game :)

I know exactly your problem, and I am only starting to learn the knack of running past players (easier with players such as Henry and HLeb, and a nightmare with Pires).
1. First of all you cannot run in exactly the same direction when running alongside a player, ie change your direction very slightly.
2. You cannot hold down R1 like you used to. Instead start the direction you want to go in, and then start to sprint away with occasional taps, and then increase the number of taps as you edge away from the defender.
3. I sometimes find it easier to dummy the defender first. My best is either quick step over or dummy shot (always fools the defender) which is square and then very quickly X.

Hope I have helped!

u can also wait till they get close then quickly change direction then sprint off. all about timing and trial and error

Just over a day to get used to it.

At first, I thought it was terrible, but I think it was mainly due to me trying to pull of all the little things that worked in PES4, in this game. Of course, because Konami have had a tweak around with the A.I, it takes different things to get round the annoyingly tight, strong defence.
