I bought FIFA

I couldnt wait another week for PES to come out so I bought FIFA because everyones been saying how good it has become over the last few years and that it has overtaken PES. and i gotta say the crappest pes id ever played was either the 08 or 09 version and even thats a million times better. the faces of some of the players like robinho, samuel and vidic looks like the faces that probably would have been in PES 3. the gameplay is ok but i think PES is slightly better. Plus its really hard to dribble past players even with messi. the only good thing was the 11 players v 11 players online. and that there were more teams league 1 etc.

has anyone else played it? what was your view?

I actually played the FIFA 11 demo for the first time this past weekend, and although very premature, after scoring 2 goals from my first 2 crosses I just thought wtf...and turned it off. Didn't enjoy it at all...

Must note though, it was right after I played the PES 11 demo for the first time, and I was very very impressed. Though far from perfect, the improvements Konami made from PES 10 justifies my every cent to buy the game. I'm looking forward spending hours and hours of fun with PES 11

I have to say i bought FIFA 11 aswell, thou I did like FIFA 10, and FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 I'm not overly impressed with FIFA 11, just feels sluggish, the new pro passing can be annoying at times, and feel I have little time on the ball before I get out muscled or knocked off it. Dribbling is pretty much no existant, and I seem to score alot of simular goals! Roll on this Friday!

I played the Fifa 11 demo to see what all the hype was about and came to the conclusion that it was just that - hype. The gameplay is very smooth and the annimations were great but there's just something missing for me in Fifa.

I beat Real Madrid 2-0 with Chelsea but neither of my goals felt satisfying. It felt like I had little to do with them. When I score in PES I know that the way my player was positioned and my direction with the controller was the reason I scored. In Fifa it still feels like you press shoot and then the computer takes over.

Fifa 11 is a good game but PES 2011 is a better football experience for me - It means more when you score or clear a lass minute winner off the line.

Only thing that worries me about PES 2011 are the rumours that the defensive AI still backs off to the edge of the area allowing you a long shot. This really bugged me in PES 2010! PLEASE someone tell me it's fixed? I didn't notice it in the demo which was great news :)

I must admit i also bought FIFA 11 just to pass time while PES 11 is released..
And i must say the game is dreadful, its very buggy just like FIFA 10 and the game has no emotion at all..like i have said before once u have played one game on FIFA you have basically played every game, same goals scored all the time.
My biggest hates about FIFA is that why are the stadiums so far away from the actual pitch and the players look like aliens at times there faces look so wrong!
I cannot wait to get my hands on PES 11 and play how football should be played!

Well shooting is actually set to ASSISTED on FIFA, only found this out the other day! You can change it to SEMI or MANUEL, MANUEL is actually impossible goes all over the place! I set it to SEMI and it feels better!

Sorry to disappoint you but you are about to experiment the most Fifa-ish PES yet.

me and my brother sat there and comppared demos back to back...

we both prefer PES and have been temptted by fifa,m but therres just that something there missing in fifa. It lacks that randomness, not sure how to describe it. fifa you always end up in the same situations one on ones or cross header goal. u dont try anything different, becuase you think oh wait im not playing PES>!
Its so easy to get the ball off AI even on hard levels in fifa, pes the AI can and will play it round you. Just hold a untill you barge AI off ball, fifa may have the licenses and polish but PEs is the game that made FIFa what it is today. and now pes is doing a come back.

Then theres the team management of PES, thats unbeatable.

PEs will beat you cos it out played you, FIFA just runs at you and hopes to score.

All FIFA games are the same, no feel, overly hyped, useless bugfest of a Manager Mode, limited editing, cheaty AI, barely worthy of the 'simulation' tag.

I've played every FIFA since FIFA 96 on the Mega Drive. No intention of buying one this year though, roll on Friday 8th.

FIFA is made by people who want to make money. PES is made by people who want to make a great football game.

Give me the Lancia over the Dihatsu any day of the week.

fifa demo done itself no favours. the finished game is better !

I played both the demo and the actual game doesnt seem to be much difference.

For the person who said that the players look alien-ish in FIFA youre spot on mate dats exaclty how i felt but i just couldnt find the words.

Ive always been a die hard PES fan but I just got it to see what the hype was about and also to kill time ( i couldnt wait another week for pes to come out). However my analysis of fifa was done without any bias- i wouldve actually swapped over if it was as good as people sed it was- but clearly pes 2011 is better than this fifa.

i also couldnt wait a week and brought FIFA. LOL like everyone else , and boy i cant for PES even more now. The game is great , but then i booted up the PES demo , and i felt more freedom . And less sluggish movment. Sometimes on fifa i feel im skating. But both games are great .

But ITS PES for me !!
last year both couldnt be compared. As fifa was superiror. This year . i say well done Konami .

I was actually contemplating buying FIFA 11 too, but not because I couldn't wait, but purely as an investment of sorts. The supermarkets selling the game for less than £30 usually only do so on the week of release or for a very limited time period so for that reason I was mulling over whether it's worth the punt. I'll probably buy it at some point just to play my friends online as 95% of them play FIFA (including my best mate) so while FIFA's single player I find very mundane and unrewarding, it's always enjoyable playing against or with friends. Hence why I still might buy it sometime soon before the price raises to over £30 again.

is it me or did EA copy Konami in a lot of aspects of their FIFA brand? The most glaring copycat to me is the defensive pressuring of the player with the ball where with (PS3) X you rush the player and with the square you bring a secondary defender to double team that player. This was never in FIFA before, they only implimented it in the last few editions and its a total copy of PES.

I haven't bought FIFA since FIFA World Cup 98. I had FIFA 96, 97 and 98 but once I got to 98 I used to play my cousin at ISS 98 and it was brilliant back then, we used to go in the same team we were about 8/9, we went Italy and played with (I guess Ravanelli) it was back when nobody had a real name I dont think, im sure his name begined with a C but we called him Ravanelli anyway as he had grey hair and we though it was brilliant. Since then i've always played 'PES' from ISS 99, 2000 2001 I think or that might have been the first PES all the way through,

FIFA has never appealed to me, it looks and feels bland. They players as they always have since FIFA 96 when there was only like 10 different looks white, brown or black skin with bald, brown or blonde hair. It hasn't progressed much since then, the players are still all replicas of each other to me, theres no individuality that you get with PES, in PES I know who everyone is just by the way they look and move in FIFA they all look the same even height wise they all look the same size.

I just don't enjoy FIFA at all. For me to get FIFA they will need to vastly improve how the players look and feel and make them individuals and not the same model for every player.

Also in FIFA the players look like they are wearing halloween masks with thin, fat or wrinkly ugly faces that look like people from zombie games.

PES the last few years hasn't progressed as it could have though, i've been disappointed with that but for me I still much prefer it to FIFA. I play FIFA the odd time as some of my younger cousins have it and the odd mate but it seems to me that it is for younger people aged like 4-14.

I've been suprised with the new PES demo it seems a good improvement but I won't know until I get the game on Friday and play a few games and play online if it is the real deal..... but I still wont be getting FIFA ;)

Im not looking forward to this PES as much as I used to, maybe im getting too old, 21 now. I can't wait to play it and will get it on Friday but I dont feel like a I need it and was counting the days like when I was younger. Anyone else the same? is this because there's not been much improvement in the last couple or old age lol

That's not even the half of it. Realistically EA have taken a huge array of elements from PES to recreate FIFA over the years - not least to mention FIFA's entire control system. While PES was sitting firmly on the throne, every FIFA fan was still repeatedly tapping Triangle to sprint. The control system is virtually identical now bar shoot and cross being switched along with the sprint/finesse button. There's been so many influences EA have taken from Konami over the years, so many in fact that I'm now forgetting a lot of them. It's still not a bad thing really as long as EA try to adapt them and improve them. At the end of the day, if both games are good, then that's great for everyone.
