If Konami Can Implement What Is In The Press Release......

The reason I love and will always be a member of PES Gaming is because of the freedom of speech.

Like Tech_Skill, i too have been critical of Konami and the fish (Seabass) but have been cautioned on PESFan and banned on WENB not for cursing but for negative comments towards PES. I have never been muzzled here.

Back to topic....
Fifa still remains the best footie game on the market, their numbers in sales reflect just that. They are not selling games to morons, but to fans just like us. The games (Fifa 10 + FWC) may have its faults also mainly floaty feeling and lack of individuality; but they have the basics down to a T. Animations are nice and the fucking online works.

As for PES....the games looks good that is all i can say. We all know the problems so i wont get into those.

If Konami can implement what is in the press release ....then they will be a good contender this year. It is going to be really hard to beat Fifa because EA is showing improvements on each release ....Konami not so much....Has anyone seen the blue Samurai vids? Same fucking game as PES 2010. NO IMPROVEMENTS AT ALL.

Based on Konami's track record .....I am not holding my breath or looking for any newly released images or game vids. I will wait until the game is released and watch the reviews. They haven't mentioned a single thing about online yet.

I do hope they make a great game this year ...but if not, Fifa isn't that bad.

Peace

Sales does not reflect that it is the best game. I think PES has outsold Fifa once, but PES and ISS were the better games in the past. At the end of the day it is down to opinion. For example who is better Messi or Maradonna, it will not be set in stone, there is no right or wrong, it is based on opinion.

You say Fifa improves year on year, this is true, but it is still far off PES 5 imo, especially in addictiveness. It aims for the mass market, online is good, but the single player experience is one of the most monotonous, mundane experiences available.

All Im syaing EA has a long way to go to make the perfect football game. But to them this is not a problem, as their sales are so high.

I agree with Ockrass in terms of the freedom of speech on this site (not to mention that is the only pes site in which is not a bloody eye sore.

so whats this june 1st business that dickhead adam keeps blabbering on about. having a look back last year the guy always came out with all these dates only for the suckers that believed him to be told that, "oh wait no, sorry next week, that's right, next week and you'll all be presented mind-blowing whatever that will make history" to be honest i feel sorry for the gullible bastards who believe him.

June 1st embargo is over for the journalists who played the game in Tokyo. Expect screenshots and impressions. I thinks PSM3 magazine have some exclusive screens and Eurogamer etc will have some previews. Not sure about gameplay vids. Like someone else said, ill wait for the demo.

Sup James,

I think you are comparing apples to oranges. Messi compared to Maradona will definitely be based on opinion ..but if Messi is chosen by more fans ...does that mean he is better?

Here is why i say Fifa is better....more people are buying the product than PES. Does this mean it is the better product ....YES!
Maybe in your opinion you prefer PES ..and thats Ok ...but Fifa rules the tables at this point. You see James, in today's market a product is only as good as its sales. Consumers are the ones who decide which is better. What or who do you think caused the decline in sales for PES? Konami and the fish thinks the game is great ....but not the fans.

Question to you! Two cars on the market Benz and Bmw. Benz outsells BMW 3 to 1 in sales. Which car do you think is better?

Sales don't NECESSARILY mean one game is better than the other. Sales ALSO DEPENDS ON HOW WELL YOU MARKET THE GAME. Remember that.
Also, what blue samurai videos are you referring to? And why are you so sure it's the next pes?
As for EA improving with every release. I agree but to a point. There's not much of a difference between releases though and fifa's flaws aren't just individuality. But let's leave that alone. Though I agree that it's a pretty solid game and it has the basics of football nailed (but one major flaw in individuality).

This whole thing about Adam and WENB is completely true.

I mean a forum is a discussions board. If thats thats the case for WENB then whats the point in having the forum when, if someone goes and bitches about KONAMI or PES, they go and ban them.

Everyone has their own right to speak, and if someone goes and posts what they think about the game and get banned, It just makes WENB seem like KONAMI's bitches.

Now, you cannot say what a game is going to be like based on a few screenshots. Its like a youtube video of a montage on COD or Gears of War. Someone can make the game look good BY THE WAY THEY PLAY IT, but when someone else goes and plays it they are disappointed because they thought the game was going to be what the Montage on youtube showed. Its the same as PES, KONAMI can make the game seem good by a few screenshots or whatever, but we cannot say what the games going to be like until we ourselves play it, because in the video of the next PES, they will show the player movements, animations and all that, but when we combine that to the whole game, it may not be what they hyped it up to be.

some good points. The best product will not always sell the most. Im not saying this about pes, but for example the top of the range Nike boots are about £250 and is the best available Nike boot, however it is the cheaper replica's and less high end boots that sell more. This does not make them the best.

Anyways its not important, where I stand on pes is that it has been poor on next gen. But i have never been more excited for pes 2011. Could be because i crave a decent next gen pes as Fifa has not captured football how I see it.

As a recent convert to PES after many years as a seriously die hard FIFA fan... I have to say that I reckon there are heaps & heaps of people out there playing FIFA purely based on what they read in forums and the slick advertising EA roll out. It took FIFA10's bugged out Manager Mode for me to finally get up off my ass and discover the wonderful football game that PES is. IMO most FIFA players buy it every year because that is all they have ever known. I seriously cannot wait for PES2011... and I really wish I hadn't waited all these years to see the light.

Just for the record I did test the waters again with FIFA WC 2010 but sadly PES has ruined me forever...

Back to PES2011 I have read the claim (atrributed to Jon Murphy the main PR guy for Konami from the amatuer PR wannabe/PES propagandist that runs WENB) that ALL animations for PES2011 will be NEW. That sends my BS detector ringing at full volume.

I doubt they would outright lie like that. For the people about to come screaming at me stating they have, I disagree. They have horribly misled us in the past years, but never lied.

You know what interesting, i think psm are asking people to send them q's to ask konami.

I haven't seen one yet ask if there is a new game engine.

Adam said on a wenb podcast a few week ago that he couldnt imagine there wouldnt be a new engine and thats what the blue sky team were brought in for, since then, havent seen much mention of it.

And the animations maybe new, but will the game still be on rails yet again?

I don't think rails are the problem; the passing on PES is hideously arrow straight, as if the ball has no life of its own. FIFA's passing system is on rails, in fact you need certain pre-determined paths or some king of locking system in order for an automated passing system to work, what sets FIFA apart is the general variation of movement in the players' passing. The ball interacts with the surface and potential obstacles and that's what Konami need to consider.

The players in pes dont feel like they can use of all of the available area, it feels like they can only move along some kind of predefined grid, it feel very restrictive and is something that has been going on in pes for years and years.

The arrow like passes you speak of can be solved with the inclusion of a proper manual passing system of the kind that exists in fifa, so i dont consider that the be all and end all.

Im not sure fifa's passing is 'on rails' the ball curls about quite a bit even for ground passing, the passes dont really move across a straight line. (whereas in pes, they do) If you switch on manual passing on fifa, its harder to ping pong it with pinpoint accuract because there is alot more room for error.

I think Konami must use both this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Types_of_Ambiguity_(Empson)

and this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Bullshit

as their guide to "truth telling"

BUT please remember, officially from Konami -that in PES2011 ALL animations are NEW - if not then please don't ask us PES skeptics TO EVER TRUST ANOTHER WORD THEY COME OUT WITH. Thank you please.

Who cares if they are not 100% new, if the game is good. Fifa didnt fix MM as promised but the game was still good.

Just bought pes 5 for the xbox and its truely a great game. It has niggles like the AI defence being overly powerful and the ref blowing up every minute but the ball physics are unforgwtable. The speed at which shots fly in and the way long throughs are hit hard then slow down are a joy to watch. Good game. Scores 2 screamers already. Once u get used to the graphics you settle in pretty quick. Atleast now if pes 2011 faulters I have back-up

Default Re: PES 2011 Discussion thread
"So, the translation, for those still interested on a proper one:

Quote:
- New moves, on the defense, a new way to deal with tactics, new trick system (this we already know).

- Master League Online, Copa dos Libertadores, a new editing system with a surprise they didn't want to tell us (we also know already).

- It's much more harder, because there's no AI assistance, and about 15/20 players have a "new" ability called "Speed Star".

Q: Did you liked the game?
A: I did, because i'm a veteran, but without A.I assistance, newbies/casual gamers will suffer, because it's much harder.

Q: But, I'm going to ask you something. Are the changes radical? Is it much better than all the next gen and PS2 games?
A: No, not yet, we are still waiting for that PES. Sorry.

Q: Are you saying it isn't good?
A: No no, I'm not saying it isn't good, it's just that it won't be the "different" PES we are waiting for.

Q: Are the animations good at least? What about response times?
A: Animations look good, and the time of response is weird at first, because you have no AI help, but you'll get used to it (I think he is talking about something different than response times...). For the veterans it will be nice to get back to the roots, but newbies will suffer at the beggining.

Q: What the about the goalkeepers and ball and players physics?
A: Goalkeepers were bad, but what we have seen was at 70% so I expect them to improve, because they were too bad. Ball physic is similiar to PES 2010 and players physics was improved, especially on body-on-body collisions.

Q: Is the game similiar to last FIFA editions? Or nothing like it.
A: Well the new trick system is a bit like FIFA's one, but apart from that, no they aren't alike.
Questions are by Jjoseca.

So, like I said, nothing conclusive. We actually made more questions but the guy didn't answered. Let's see what we read on next weeks actual reports. "

Back to the roots, harder to play, good animations and collision system pleases me. However poor goal keepers is very worrying. The 3 main things that needed to be fixed were animations, response times and GK's. Sort it out Konami.

This aint good, are were gonna get the same type of shit as last year, what happened to adam saying there is gonna be a ne engine this year made by blue sky team etc?
