Wow..after about the 10th attempt to load the disc, I turned my PS2 on an 45 degree angle and held it there, the disc loaded, then I turned my PS2 upside down and it worked.

Try that method if anyone is still having problems.

max drive problem!!!

my max drive was working good only 2 days and I did not have any problems with it, unfortunately I hit the power in the extension cable where the console where conected and max drive was put in the console too! that day I didn't work with max drive but another day when I wanted to use it...I just could not! my computer didn't see it and the max drive program too! ps2 sees it but I cannot do anything with it, it shows that there is not any files and when I want to copy or move something there is a message "insufficient space" do You think that hiting the power off broke it???
please answear if anybody knows what is going on with max drive!!

Thanks for this advice mate, I just got my max drive today. Bought it so I could enter goal of the month. Good job i've got xp though cos I got 2 "for playstaion cd's" and no pc one lol. Everytime I put the disc in my ps2 it kept saying disc read error. I was just about to email play.com and give them a bollocking when I thought I'd check on here and as usual I found the answer I was looking for. Stood the bloody thing up straight and it worked first time, you beauty! It also works laying horizontal now aswell lol.

I'm having a problem with my X-Port. It's the same as on the first page where it says "The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS applications", or something like that. However, since I'm using an X-Port and not a Max Drive... I don't think I can follow the instructions given by '7Ronaldo'. Anyone?

Wah!! Problem!!!

I purchased Gran Turismo 4 yesterday and found it requires at least 1,500kb of space. I have 3 memory card and they are all pretty full, so I decided to put my one memory card of all Pro Evo 3 stuff onto the Max-Drive then onto the PC - and bingo, empty memory card!

But, after moving all the files over, I returned to the PS2 browser menu, look at the memory card and found lots of icons where data was corrupt. The PES3 icons (which I tmoved directly over to the Max Drive) were still there but corrupt, and the other save files on the memory card which I didn't try to move were corrupt. And I can't delete or move corrupt data.

What went wrong?

Don't know mate. How long have you had the memory card? Sometimes they just go funny.

Might be an idea to format it before continuing to use it.

I've had it a while but this is the first time something has gone wrong with it. How do I go about formatting it then?

P.S I was using the Max-Drive to put all my PES3 stuff on the PC - but I didn't back up my NFS:U2 or my GTA:SA. :(

Unlucky. Regular backups help to be safe.
There is an option in the X-port program to format the card. I think max drive should have this option too?
